Hey Masako, I have a question. Have you ever thought about creating a Spotify playlist of these full stories? So people can listen to them while doing other things. It's just a thought.
This idea with Trunks and Mai staying in the present was what I wanted RIGHT AWAY after seeing the arc, that was such a stupid choice. They had Trunks built up, started character dynamics, etc. And it'd have been awesome if Future Trunks and Frieza had to work on the same team in the TOP
At the very least if the Trunks sendoff HAD to happen, you would think the narratively pleasing route would make more sense. Cell's timeline. Just send Trunks there and now he's reunited with his mother and Bulma has her son again. And, y'know, before that, tell Trunks where New Namek is and teach him instant transmission since he's the only hope his people will have. At the very least, do the first thing. People will probably argue Majin Buu wiped out that Earth. I argue if the Androids were somehow weaker in Trunks' time, the lack of any strong fighters on Earth meant Babadi hadn't started his plan yet.
Plus, if Trunks and Mai did end up in Cell's Timeline, then there'd be two copies of Mai to take into account and only one Trunks, at least until they revive him using New Namek's Dragonballs
Definitely one of the more laid back what-ifs, I must say. Sure, Trunks gets to have his Xenoverse adventures (which, by the way, could be a fun backdoor plot for some crossovers with other What-ifs) and had to participate in the Tournament of Power and Broly fiasco, but it's pretty neat to see how his adventures in the main timeline didn't reach quite the extraordinary heights of Raditz or Nappa, with Trunks just trying to wind down and enjoy his new (well, not on fire) home.
It would have been great that while Trunks and Gohan had a training montage, Videl and Mai had a small version of their own with Videl teaching Mai how to fly.
I hope we get a Gt continuation of What if Trunks and Mai stayed in the past. I would like to see more of Pari and his interactions with Goten, Present Trunks, Pan and Bra!
I never thought about this, but within the first few minutes I imagined myself as Future trunks trying to fit in with new universe friends. They dont have the same experiences and memories as you. They see you as an imposter. They don't understand why you are there. They can never understand what you went through. You can't really talk about it, because it all sounds strange to them, when you talk about another version of them.. On top of that, your counterpart is a weaker version of yourself.. I would probably go insane.
You know, this what if kind of made me think of something. Given how Trunks despises Zeno for what the little god did to his timeline... having to deal with the likes of Beerus pushing him around... and now you have The Supreme Kia of Time telling him he has to 'fix his mistake' that he did to save his friends and family and future.... What if after being these gods/kais punching bags for so long... that he time travels on his own to teams up with a Zamasu (or Towa/Mira) to end all the gods so there can be true free will and "peace" for mortals
I kinda wonder what Pari’s life ends up being like in the future. Though the finale for this what-if is nice, a follow up some time from now would be neat.
Not only would keeping them in the past make more common sense,bit would've also made for a better marketing decision, fans LOVE future Trunks and in the past he has people who are closer to family than most of the ones he lost in his timeline, he shares a strong bond with both his adoptive-past family of Vegeta and Bulma as well as a brotherly bond with Gohan from their adventures against Cell and the androids, I don't understand why they didn't just keep him as part of the main plot...
One of the things I didn't like about the Goku Black arc was Trunks pretty much being retired when he didn't have to be. Instead of Vegeta training Trunks to obtain SSJ2 or 3, Vegeta could have taught him how to use Godly Ki, and train him to master SSJ blue from there. He still could have taught Trunks SSJ2 and 3, but they just had to return to Trunks' timeline too early. If you can combine Super Saiyan with Super Saiyan God, then you can probably combine Super Saiyan 2 with Super Saiyan God. They could have gone further and trained to master that with the evil containment wave as a back up plan.

The one issue I have with this what-if is that Universe 7 went from 6 people, down to 2 when it came to fighting Jiren and Toppo. It could have been an awesome wish fulfillment to have Goku and Gohan team up as the final two against Jiren. After all, Gohan did get more training with Trunks than he ever did in the cannon series.
Relatively new subscriber here; Masako might be my favorite DB TH-camr already. Even his voice acting is pretty damn good ✨ 17:22 case in point. That edit is perfect. Masako's Vegeta is so damn good
I don't think I'll ever stop being confused that they wrote Gohan the way they did. I can get behind him not having the "warrior's spirit" or whatever, but his wife is the daughter of a world famous superstar. The idea that Gohan would need to get some average desk jockey gig to provide for them is some seriously weird stuff when you remember that. It would have made so much more sense if he just didn't want to be a fighter and was going through the motions to counter the ever scaling threats than "I _can't_ train right now because the quarterly reports are due and I'm behind" or whatever. What a wild narrative misstep.
1:08:49 Aww! It would be both Cute and Funny if Future Trunks and Future Mai asked Chronoa to be Pari's godmother, since, ya know, she's Literally a God! Haha, a nice thought. And Gohan could be Pari's Godfather, though hopefully Videl doesn't get mad at Chronoa taking cute little Pari's Godmother spot.
So there's one thing I don't really get, what has Beerus done originally which has caused for there to be an additional timering / timeline fracture ? I don't remember any event of him messing with time.
I've always rewatched the Raditz episodes wondering if he had at least tried to persuade Goku, he probably had a good shot of winning him over. Showing up and making threats was maybe the worst way to go about it considering Vegeta needed as many Saiyans as he could muster. It's like if Bulma showed up one day looking for the dragonballs, demanded Goku join her as her bodyguard, and insisted he return tomorrow with the heads of the leaders of the Red Ribbon army to prove himself useful or he'd never see his grandpa's dragonball again. Raditz didn't have to be entirely honest about being space faring mercenaries and ruthless killers. He could have spun the more sympathetic parts of the story to at least lure Goku into joining them temporarily. --We're the last of our species. --The last of us are joining together to overthrow a galactic tyrant. --There are stronger opponents out there than you've ever faced. Heck, I think the decision would be easy for Goku at that point. He might have even offered the dragonballs in assistance to their cause. Imagine what Raditz might have thought when the realization dawned on him that immortality was at his fingertips and his naive little brother was going to hand it right to him.
Hey Masako, WI kid Trunks and Gotenks decided to use the Dragonballs to resurrect their saiyans grandparents because kids and they are curious little buggers that don't consider consequences and they just want to meet them?
I disagree, one of the themes in that arc, with Trunks visiting Gohan and talking to 18 is the idea of a peaceful world where he no longer needs to fight …at least not against danger. That’s the world he is fighting for. What I have problem is how he achieved that peace.
The part of trunks saying goku doesn't know what it feels like proves hes wrong I mean android and cell saga was the main definition of it not to mention majin buu
I always figured in the anime/manga timeline that Trunks just became a Time Patroller. Until Future Trunks returns in the anime/manga I'll just place him with the Supreme Kai of Time.
Love to see you do more with supreme kai of time and future trunks ^^ The xenoverse and the manga's involving her and trunks are most interesting. Was cause of them i wished we saw an animated series with future trunks as main character and see his struggles to save the multi-verse
nice what if. My only suggestion is Dyspo in the Funimation Dub sounds closer to Android 13 which is a Southern United States accent but not nearly as exaggerated as Android 13 is
I would have expected Gohan to say train with me rather than train me. At this point Gohan should have more practical experience in multiple trainers the trucks did not have the benefit of so why are they could both learn from each other go huh should still be in the Forefront
How about "What If Pan was born in the Future?". I did the research. If Videl and Gohan met in the future and Pan was born in the same age as in our timeline, Future Pan would be 1 year old when Future Gohan perished.
Seeesh tragic like literally everything in gohans life But then again its like everything in future gohans life But also since the top happens at the same year ft gohan dies(in the future timeline) Wouldn't tuture pan be 4 yearold when her father dies?
I love listening to these what ifs then listening to them and thinking how it would go with my dragon ball Saiyan character, I love dragon ball what ifs especially Masako's because they are so good and my brain likes to go crazy with my character being part of these.
Honestly I could see alot of this actually happening. Your what if's are always fun I would love the continuation to what if goku had a daughter I really enjoy that I also love what if raditz turned good and what if geinie went to earth as well thank you for all that you do to provide us all with these fun videos.
How does Gohan get knocked out in the ToP in this version? And if Toppo doesn't start to use his God of Destruction powers, then doesn't Vegeta wind up lasting longer against Jiren as well?
Honestly i feel like it wouldve been cool if They had dropped Trunks and Mai into universe 6 and then meet up with them again in the TOP and ee couldve had a Vegeta vs Trunks and Cabba moment

Dende got rid of that when he upgraded the wish count to 3 in the cell saga.

I love listening to these what ifs then listening to them and thinking how it would go with my dragon ball Saiyan character, I love dragon ball what ifs especially Masako's because they are so good and my brain likes to go crazy with my character being part of these.

Your what if's are always fun I would love the continuation to what if goku had a daughter I really enjoy that I also love what if raditz turned good and what if geinie went to earth as well thank you for all that you do to provide us all with these fun videos.

Or just simply just call the fusion, Trunks. If it’s both the same person then there’s no reason to change the name a little.
Though the finale for this what-if is nice, a follow up some time from now would be neat.
