Hi Samuel -- preparation/training for certain ACI Certification programs can be done online, however, all exams must be administered through an ACI Local Sponsoring Group. Travel to the nearest Sponsoring Group or an ACI Resource Center may be necessary. You can find a list of Sponsoring Group and ACI Resource Center locations here: www.concrete.org/certification/findasponsoringgroup.aspx
At the 2:10 mark in the video you show a mortar cube breaking way out of spec. Per ASTM C109 the loading rate for cubes is 200-400 pounds per second. This cube was broken with the machine on full advance. For a video explaining the advantages of knowing the being able to run tests according to spec, this is an unforgivable error.
Good eye David, and thank you for your comment; you are correct. However, the purpose of this video is to demonstrate the scope of ACI's Certification programs and is not intended to act as a training video. A number of ACI's Sponsoring Groups include review sessions with their Certification offerings, which demonstrate proper and improper laboratory and field practices to enable participants to identify errors, as is the case in the specific clip you are referring to. We appreciate your sharp eye and welcome your continued feedback in the future.
Actually David they had a computerized system that was preset at spec. The video was was sped down for you to see the fracture in the break.
I'm about to do my certification
That's great to hear Eddy! Let us know if there is anything we can do to help you become ACI Certified!
How do I get certified if I live in a country where there are no centres. Can everything be done online?
