What a great presentation! A "real" bass player! Playing bass the way it should be! All U amateurs, wannabes and dilettantes, - take a good hard look at this video. And then decide if U wanna play bass or not! . . . PS - I'm a Precision guy, but I gotta say the Jazz Bass sounds really good here.
Amazing comparison! Generally speaking I am using to prefer the Jazz sound but also in this situation I must admit that the Stingray cuts the mix much better than the others two basses!
@@wmhhealth2018 I also own all three of them. But being a child of the 80ies I had the strong urge for a typical graphite sound, so I bought a Status. And, although it's not my cup of tea, you have to give the Rickenbacker some respect as a bass sound on its own.
@@f.herumusu8341 I also own an early 1982 Steinberger L-2. I prefer it to the Rick. I've owned 4 Ricks and eventually sold them all. The sound was never the issue, particularly the low end which is massive but the playability. Ultimately I find it awkward. Fender and the 34 inch scale length is magic.
@@wmhhealth2018 Yes, beside the sound, that I would seldom need, the playabilty of the Rickenbacker made it always a "Won't buy" for me. But I admit that is a Non-Leo Fender Bass that wrote Bass history. Cant imagine Chris Squire without a Rickenbacker sound.
You knew the answer before you even made the video…. They ALL sound iconic. All 3 of them are fantastic basses. in the end, It all boils down to who’s mixing the cut.
I've already subbed to one million channels but i keep stumble upon great contents! I couldn't help but subscribe to your chennel as well! Very nice vid and, IMO, the P bass is killing! Thank you Obrad! And, by the way, your playing is great. Bravo! 👍👍👍
I have the same trio in my own collection... Great demo and against everything, I must again admit that a proper Stingray MM20 (2EQ) is an absolute killing machine ! Love it sick.
Brilliant as usual. Close for me between the Jazz and the Ray. I’d be happy with either for that tune. I still remember when it was released. Getting old!
If you're a tradesman, your skill has to be complimented by your tools. The Jazz, followed by the Precision, followed by the Stingray. Choice of the professionals. You can't go wrong with any of them. Comes down to Vanilla, Chocolate or Strawberry. Everything else is exotic.
Great comparison! What this taught me is that the tone of each instrument is down to personal taste but that any of the "big three" basses sound fantastic if the player is this good.
For me, the Jazz Bass clearly wins here. It's not about standing out in the mix, it's about the sound. This JB sounds fantastic in this context. It might be different with other songs. Excellent video and great playing 👍
(JMO) In THIS particular "demo", the Jazz Bass sounds best; I believe it's the mids that make it stand out, but they all sound Fantastic; Hell, they're ALL Fenders. Thanks Leo. 👍🏿👊🏿
Can be..just need to get those three basses back together. Since this video seems to be interesting to the viewers, I thought to make similar one with slap, but a pic is also a nice idea.
I have player J basses most of my life. By themselves they sound the most pleasing to my ears. But even though soloed, the Stingray sounds kind of quacky, in the mix it sounds the best
@@luigi.zaninidoesn't mean the Stingray is any better or worse than the Jazz or Precision - they might want the jazz bass to sit in the mix rather than cut through, it's all a matter of taste
@@luigi.zanini TBH: I can't take that "cuts through the mix"-BS anymore. In 90% it's a bad excuse for a bad mix. All three of these basses have proven since decades that thier sound is absolutly fine for "cutting trough the mix" ... if mixed properly.
I am rather new to bass playing and prefer Precis by far as I play (hard) rock mainly. But when I hear such classy comparisons I hear the class of a Jazz bass (which was in the middle position I guess). And think that the Stingray sounded more Jazzy than the Jazz bass, but I guess that‘s a question of EQing the avtive preamp?
I don’t know what you mean for “to sound more Jazzy” but in this comparison you can realize that the Stingray cuts better the mix that other two basses so you can hear it better mostly with a track in the background!
I've always been and still am a P bass guy. I own a Stingray short scale but still like the P better. Jazz - not for me. The Jazz sounds OK but I"m not a fan of the offset body and single coil pickups.
Nice demo and playing. I've been thinking about getting a Stingray for a while now to go with my P and J, now videos like this keep popping up. Do you think somebody is trying to tell me something?
thanks for the video i am new to bass guitar and could not hear the difference between their sound so i can make my decision would it be correct to describe their sounds as follows? Stingray = aggressive, punchy Pbass = thick and warm jazz bass = growly and bright

This could easily be the best comment I've received on my channel. Thank You so very much! 👍🙏
Well, I had the time of my life watching this comparison video!
Thanks 👍, me to recording it 🙂
Amazing comparison!
Generally speaking I am using to prefer the Jazz sound but also in this situation I must admit that the Stingray cuts the mix much better than the others two basses!
Man! What amazing kind of video! 3 of my favorites tones!
That precision looks and sounds superb, but I did like the jazz on this piece, great playing obra
Thanks 👍
Man, This guys having The time of his life!
I own all 3 multiple years some vintage. They are all a bass player needs. Leo Fender was a genius.

Stingray !
You can never go wrong with either of them
Such great playing.

Your playing and feel is the greatest.
The Stingray for me.

I own a Music Man bass I love that low note baritone sound.
Who would have guessed that the time of my life Bass line would make for such a good bass demo 👍
For this song, the jazz bass. Hands down.
Concur
Great video!! =D I Like the StingRay and Precision
I have the same trio in my own collection... Great demo and against everything, I must again admit that a proper Stingray MM20 (2EQ) is an absolute killing machine ! Love it sick.
Thanks, I love 2EQ MM. Must found one for myself as this one is not mine
They all sound so good!
Three great basses.
Thank you for this nice comparative video.
Thank You for watching.
All 3 of them sound great, just a matter of preference. What counts is the playing …which really make them shine 😉
Thanks 👍
Thanks for comparison!
Thanks for watching 👍
Great video test Bro! I rather go for the Stingray even though I own & love my 78 Jazz & 76 P Bass as well.
I have all 3 but I prefer the feel and sound of a p bass
Odlično!!!
As a real Stingray lover, i must admit the Jazz sounded the best.
as a Jazz lover I must admit that the Stingray cuts better the mix!
The Jazz sounds closest to the recording
I love the stingray's and Jazz bass sound ❤
I have got allmost all 3. A Fender Preci, Jazz and a Music Man Stingray 5 string. Makes fun to play all 3, depends on what song.
They all sound so damn good.
Exactly. How do you say you love one of your children best!
Brilliant as usual. Close for me between the Jazz and the Ray. I’d be happy with either for that tune. I still remember when it was released. Getting old!

I still love the P-bass most, it's a completely personal taste thing. Thanks Obrad, well done.
Stingray is my Favorit.😊
Precision fits better
The precision almost always sounds the best but the Jazz plays the nicest.
Impossible to choose, nice sound for all of 3!!!!!
Maybe Stingray and P bass for me
Hombre, mis 3 bajos favoritos !! Suscrito. Buena comparación 👍🏻🎸😎
Thanks! Enjoy my channel 👍
P sits better in mix...it just simply does its job brilliantly not to stand out..not too clicky..just fat round and punchy...engineers dream.
Pbass❤
The Jazz sounded so great
Jazcisionman

Jazz Jazz Jazz Jazz...
Great Video. Just confirms I want all 3 😂
Thanks!
All three sound fantastic! But I think the Jazz sounds like it supports the music best in my opinion.
Another similar comparison but with a pick? 🙏👍

precision....
foken jazz rulez them all
Great bass player and the description under video? Legendary :D
Thanks 👍. Check my other videos if You like 🙂
Ese JazzBass suena increíble
Great video! On the Jazz Bass, how did you have the pickup set? Neck, Bridge, 50/50?
Yes, 50/50, tone open all the way, but some EQ and compressor in DAW.
Amazing playing and tone. On all three bases. Just out of personal preference I'll always pick a jazz.
Thanks 👍
great video I like it
The Fenders sounds more earthier but The Fender half sibling, the Music Man is a close second and more powerful.
It seems like the Music Man’s is perfect for this song I’ve always thought that was the bass they were playing when they recorded this song.
And once agsin the precision bass shows why it’s the daddy of them all
I have player J basses most of my life. By themselves they sound the most pleasing to my ears. But even though soloed, the Stingray sounds kind of quacky, in the mix it sounds the best
Only one wins : the player
🙏
I prefer the stingray or is it just me?
is because of the humbucker pickup
Different Tools for different tasks
I personally Love a PJ Bass with a J Neck
I love musicman stingray too
I’ve got theses 3. It’s like clothes and shoes, i take one of them to the gig depending on my mood of the day.😊
For this song? I prefer the full and round sound of the Jazz Bass.
yes, you prefer the Jazz sound (subjective thing) but the Stingray sound is cutting better the mix (objective thing)

Alone of in a low volume band the Jazz bass. In a live situation to be good in the mix with a louder band the Stingray.
My rating
#1 Stingray
#2 Jazz
#3 Precision

Precision rules🎉
The Jazz and Stingray sounded the best, the P-bass sounding thinner. This guy is a solid player, too.
Jazz,Precision,StingRay....
Jazz bass´s clasic sound forever times!
In your hands they all sound great. I think the Jazz bass sits in the mix the best in this case.
Thanks 👍
Solo - Jazz sounds the best, but in the full instrumental mix - Precision all the way...
I'll take the Stingjazzisson Bass 😂
Leo Fender's three masterpieces!
Absolutely
Stingray!!!❤❤❤
thx
Very distinct! How do I live only owning one???
Nice demo and playing.
I've been thinking about getting a Stingray for a while now to go with my P and J, now videos like this keep popping up. Do you think somebody is trying to tell me something?
I only think I need one more Stingray with 2EQ....and probably a Jazz Bass 😫
@ObraBass I've got my eye on a really nice Stingray special. Ii know I shouldn't but. . .
jazz, for this song is the best
MusicMan
Without a doubt the jazz wins, all good but j bass clear winner
Jazz bass🎉
For me the Jazz Bass mixed better on this song
In the bass alone the Stingray does it for me but with the music tge jazz wins because I couldn't hear that Stingray sizzle
thanks for the video

Stingray = aggressive, punchy
Pbass = thick and warm
jazz bass = growly and bright

the jazz bass
I think the jazz the tone character of the song best
JB 👍👍👍
Nothing cuts through like a Stingray.
JB !!! 👍
Precision all the way!!!!!!!
