Great video! On the Jazz Bass, how did you have the pickup set? Neck, Bridge, 50/50?

The precision almost always sounds the best but the Jazz plays the nicest.

Really great comparison. The Sire V5 on its own sounds really impressive on most of the clips I have watched. But Side by Side the Fender wins. The difference to me is surprisingly drastic. I don't know if its the aged wood of the Fender. You might have an exceptionally good one. Or your Sire might not be one of the better ones. I bought a V7 vintage and even though the TH-cam clips sounded great, mine was set up poorly when I got it and it sounded pretty lifeless. It took some some time and some modding before it came to life.

Just get a sire Marcus Miller bass. Problems solved.

Pedulla is warmer and better balanced imho

Fender original for recording and sd-1 for live work.

The Fenders sounds more earthier but The Fender half sibling, the Music Man is a close second and more powerful.

It seems like the Music Man’s is perfect for this song I’ve always thought that was the bass they were playing when they recorded this song.

What a great presentation! A "real" bass player! Playing bass the way it should be! All U amateurs, wannabes and dilettantes, - take a good hard look at this video. And then decide if U wanna play bass or not! . . . PS - I'm a Precision guy, but I gotta say the Jazz Bass sounds really good here.

Amazing playing and tone. On all three bases. Just out of personal preference I'll always pick a jazz.

Appreciate you plucking in the same spot on all the basses. Been listening to a lot of motown lately, don't like how the open E sounds on the p bass in this particular configuration. Just seems a bit thin

I own all 3 multiple years some vintage. They are all a bass player needs. Leo Fender was a genius.

Well, I just saved $250! I hear no truly substantial difference justifying the swap…. Maybe some Fralins would make the difference…

I own all three and use them all an equal amount of time. For this song I would most likely use the P-bass.

I wish I knew how important it is to work on light touch. It would've spared me a lot of nerv and getting frustrated (and probably a fucklot of money too) :)

I have got allmost all 3. A Fender Preci, Jazz and a Music Man Stingray 5 string. Makes fun to play all 3, depends on what song.

All 3 of them sound great, just a matter of preference. What counts is the playing …which really make them shine 😉

Jazz bass won

I own a Music Man bass I love that low note baritone sound.

In the bass alone the Stingray does it for me but with the music tge jazz wins because I couldn't hear that Stingray sizzle

Alone of in a low volume band the Jazz bass. In a live situation to be good in the mix with a louder band the Stingray.
