Enjoyed the video. Is Solvay near Syracuse, N.Y.? I am Canadian, but picked up a Lost Battalion WW2 American helmet last year, painted with the Statue of Liberty on the front. Nice item to a famous American WW1 unit! Great collection BTW. Living in Toronto, Syracuse, N.Y. is not foreign territory to me. In the 1980's my parents, both long deceased, used to go shopping there when prices were affordable, not today! A lot of American material shows up here in Ontario where it is not as popular at good prices. Cheers, have a good Christmas in 2023!

Yes Solvay is right on the outskirts of Syracuse! That's awesome that you found that helmet I'm keeping an eye out for one. Thanks for enjoying the video!

@@livinghistorymilitaria I live in the UK my father was a farmer during WW2 so was not allowed to go over seas but served in the Home Guard I still have his combat tunic, side cap, gas mask and some paper work, my Great Uncle was killed in WW1 and is buried in Belgium we went over this year to visit the grave he had a son who never married and he gave some of his fathers equipment that was sent back after he was killed, it's the metal mess tin he used and his brass cap badge, ID tags, small leather pouch and mess tin cover also a wallet with note book and a couple of leave passes, the wallet and note book have a hole in made by the bullet that killed him, a very precious item to me. Only just found your channel I can see you have lots more for me to look at.

Excellent collection. Especially like the fact that you are not only collecting pieces, but also trying to get their story. That is the kind of detail that really brings history to life.
Btw: The German newspaper is in all likelihood from 17th March 1935, the date Hitler reintroduded general conscription in Germany (against the terms of the Versailles treaty). The caption translates as "The end of the shame of Versailles".

Very nicely done. You have your flag hanging backwards. Having it hang in front of the window will fade it a lot faster also. I like the use of the string lights. More light always looks better for a collection.
