This is based on true story and the movie reflects on the Boxing culture of 1980's Tamil Boxing in North Chennai / Madras where clans fought for Reputation.
But this film is set in late 1970s I guess
The boxing is very different coz it's an indianises version of english boxing. And the story is loosely based on the realities happened in the 70s and 80s in TN

This version of boxing would be more similar to your English pub brawls than professional boxing cos it's essentially an evolution of the same brought to India by the Englishmen. Hence the kind of showboating you'd see in pub brawls.

Aot will be a good start
From what little I have seen, these guys usually underestimate things based on face value, and they might underestimate AoT too at the start. Most people didn't realize what a masterpiece AoT was till mid-season 2. It really dawned on them in end of Season 3 and start of Season 4 that AoT is nothing like it looked in Season 1. Even though the manga didn't stick the landing, AoT is still great. But I doubt these guys will watch it through completely.

I understand everyone has their preference. I wish you guys opened up your "US minds" a little bit to see what any other movie is about. Not just this film. Any language films!
You have been trained to watch almost and the only US flims with just one genre per movie. I understand that is the American way and it came about after the 75-90's.
Back then in US films, there were dance numbers in the '30-'50s era too. Every culture, its surroundings, movies, and music are different.
So, if you are going to come into the world cinema stop pushing it aside because of your "trained" minds.
