The song I'm Sick is inspired by a real heartache of Serge Lama, the story of a long secret relationship. In 1969, the singer met Michèle Potier in Chamonix. Love is a certainty, but they are not free either: in 1968 Daisy Brun married her press secretary, she is married and the mother of a little boy. They love each other in secret for several years and promise to regain their freedoms, but Michèle hesitates and eventually flees and settles in Morocco for professional reasons. You win a new French subscriber in reacting to this song! :D This song was written in 1973 by French singer Serge Lama (who's also the first performer) after a painful separation from his loved woman at the time cause he was married and had children with another one. He then spoke about this separation so sad that it made him sick to his best friend Alice Donna, who was also the one who composed the music of his songs. This gave her the idea of composing a piece of music on being sick of love which she then made Serge listen to. He was so overwhelmed by this melody that he wrote the lyrics on a table corner in a few tens of minutes. Later, he admitted this song was a kind of "hold up" cause it was so easy for him to write it. Everything he had been holding back in him for months had spilled onto the paper within minutes. Fortunately, a little more than 10 years after, he met a new time this woman. And her like him was free in love (Serge Lama was divorced of his ex-wife and her separated of her life companion). So they continued this beautiful love story that had ended ten yrs ago and had a little boy together. They stayed together until her death at 71 (Serge Lama is now 78 years old). Serge Lama sent the eponymous album specially dedicated to my parents just before its official release in 1973. My father took care of the stars' cars (parking driver) and their staff who performed in the 60s at the Olympia; the very famous concert hall Parisian which seen The Rolling Stone, the Beatles, Hendrix, etc. perform here.
