Silent Night Holy Night. Original version in the place of origin Oberndorf. The people sing.

The song “Stille Nacht, Heilige Nacht” was first performed on 24 Dec. 1818 in “Oberndorf bei Salzburg” in public.
In this location, the song is traditionally sung in the original version, which is different to the popular version in parts of the text and mainly in the melody, which is a third lower in the second part, and has more ornaments.
The song is sung once during the offertory by two men (here: brothers Hannes and Georg Mairoll), one of them accompanies the singing with a guitar; the church choir responds to every verse.
After mass the people sing the song again with organ accompaniment.
