Dr Chilton makes sense in a quiet way that suggests his only agenda is to examine what can be found and suggest what is most likely. Jacob, your questions are astute and help lead all of us on a journey through Chilton’s years of research. Kudos.

Thank you Dr Chilton, thank you Jacob. Very, very interesting discussion. Dr Chilton has some unique and fascinating theories. The earlier death of the Baptist is especially eye opening. Such a chronology would give time for a much longer ministry of Jesus.

Chilton is wonderful. "John the Purifier" is a great nomenclature. Imagine the mamzer Jesus seeking to ne "reborn" (ie in the right way, or righteous way) through John's baptismal ritual. Of course, all this is plausible in the eschatological crisis that levels all social distinctions, the baptism of fire. Later Christians will apply this lesson to martyrdom.

29:10 Agreed Herod didn't wait to act on the criticism -- but we don't have any way of knowing when John criticized the marriage. For that matter, John may have been saying things like that for 10 years but he maybe hadn't developed a large enough following yet for anyone to actually notice. Also, people make political criticisms like this for years and decades after the transgression -- people still bring up Monica Lewinsky when criticizing the Clintons, for instance.

Let us not forget that the Church is a powerful social institution. There are lots and lots of "Christians" who attend church and talk the talk because it is the socially and politically correct thing to do. They know little about the actual Jesus or the Bible, they never will, and they really don't want to.

      @humbleopulence 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

@@TywysogCraig no, no, it's true. You had something called a Rabban, but that is basically "the highest official authority of the time". This was Rabban Shimon Ben gamliel, the president of the Sanhedrin at the time of the revolt. This is not the same as being the high priest, nor is it something so simple as "just another Rabbi". It's the highest title a learned man of Judea could achieve. And it was therefore seen as desirable, mostly, by the Pharisees - the fathers of Rabbinic Judaism.
Rabbi is a shortened version of "מורי ורבי", Mori veRabbi - My Teacher and Sage. Over time, use of this word changed only to Rabbi (which means "My Sage" or "My Master") and only afterwards did it come to denote the rank of Rabbi (cause there was no need for Priests after the destruction of the 2nd temple). But this only starts to happen after 70 c.e.
No one was called Rabbi as a rank or a position in the community. So it's improper to call Jesus a Rabbi in this period.
And it's also very suspicious that he is called that in a text claiming to portray a pre-70 timeline. It's almost as though the text was written in the 2nd century, when Jews were called Rabbis, or something. 🤔

    (30 March 2024)
This video's title: "What do we know about Jesus" does not address WHY Jesus thought he was The Messiah, and WHY some Jews thought he might be the Messiah and became his followers.
I have concluded that apparently Jesus and his followers were ignorant of statements made in the books of Haggai and Zechariah that identified the Messiah to be Zerubbabel, the Persian appointed governor of Yehud (Judaea).
As I understand Haggai and Zechariah, God had informed his people what the sign would be to thereby identify the Messiah.
    The sign?
The Messiah would build the Temple destroyed by the Babylonians in 587 BC.
After Zerubbabel had rebuilt the Temple by 515 BC, God would reward him with the Messiahship.
But to do this God had to destroy the Persian Empire first, who oppossed a Messiah being crowned.
The prophets predict all the kings of the world will besiege Jerusalem, take half the city in warfare, then God would descend from heaven with a heavenly host or army, cause madness to turn the kings into slaying each other's soldiers.
    The issues?
The throne of thrones (Persian throne and its client kings Satrapy thrones) never besieged Jerusalem.
God did not descend from Heaven, splitting the Mount of Olives in half.
God, for unknown reasons, failed to make Zerubbabel the Messiah, as a reward for Zerubbabel's rebuilding the Temple, so God could have a place "to dwell in," on earth, among his people.
No Temple, NO dwelling place among his people for God!
How strange that the prophecies of Haggai and Zechariah should be unknown as regards how to identify the Messiah by his rebuilding the Temple, prophecies unknown to Jesus, who claimed to be the Messiah, and his followers.

  • @Stonefalconetti
    @Stonefalconetti 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +7

Even some hardcore Christians, who decided to study the bible "themselves" and look at the evidence, realise in the end that yeah, maybe Jesus didn't really live and the bible is just an allegory to understand God and his works... But they decide to remain Christians because that how "their world is" and it's the easiest way for them to "keep in touch with religion."
And then, you have the regular Christian who has lazily accepted everything that he/she was told by his/her parents or church people and the *moment* you challenge their beliefs, they become extremely defensive, as if, *all of a sudden* they are now EXPERTS in Christianity (when, in fact, they know very very little about their own religion...)

Male scholars always gloss over the dedication, contributions, and bravery of Mary Magdalene. She financially supported Jesus and his ministry because she believed in the work he was doing. He trusted her and, perhaps, told her things that he didn't tell the other disciples. He defended her in front of the other men. She was there when he was crucified. And she went alone to make sure that he received a proper Jewish burial, in a time when the Romans purposely made those that were crucified an example. They humiliated and tortured them to keep the others in line. It wasn't safe for her to go, but she did anyways. I will never understand why she has not been recognized and repected for her devotion.
There are people today that see visions of their loved ones after their death. I believe that she believes that she saw him and talked to him. The conversation gave her grief some closure. I will never understand why people won't allow her to have that peace. 😕

You both have been sleeping at the wheel. Both scholars that have been on History Valley, Gnostic Informant and Mythvision have with some reasonable deduction belive that there was a guy. He just didn't do all those miracles. That Jesus lived , he got in trouble and was crucified. There is no way unless the whole process of being whipped and nailed that any man could survived that unless the process was really screwed up some how. Beaten to near death. Ankles and wrist punctured with nails and stabbed through the lung. No way anyone could survive that and if they did. It was long before they succumbed to the injuries

Jesus is portrayed as crucified. They began in the spirit but, ended in the flesh, with an actual crucifixion. There are two appearances, within the same generation, the sacrifice and resurrection, at the end of the ages, the time of the harvest.
But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach (to you) a gospel other than the one that we preached to you, let that one be accursed! (Gal 1:8 NABO)
Christ ransomed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us, (Gal 3:13 NABO)
Without Jesus, nothing came in to being. With Jesus, the plan of salvation was created by the Father you spring from. Jesus is the Light of the Lamp of the Father and the Word of the Will of the Father. The ruler of this world has been condemned. The Ancient Serpent of Old takes his seat upon a throne on the Mount of Assembly, as the Ancient One of Days while Jesus washes his feet. His people will be a kingdom of priests.
(Jesus) turned and said to Peter, "Get behind me, Satan! You are an obstacle (Cornerstone of his work of salvation) to me. (Mat 16:23 NABO)
"Unless I wash you, you will have no inheritance with me." (Joh 13:8 NABO)
Inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world. (Mat 25:34 NABO)
Did he not make one being, with flesh and spirit: (Mal 2:15 NABO)
You must then safeguard life that is your own (Mal 2:15 NABO)
The reason he needs the Way of the Lord in the Desert is because the day of vengeance AS judgment sets up the abomination of desolation in himself, as the Temple without one stone left standing upon another.
The way of the Lord in the desert needs to be put into context with the previous passage:
Sacrifice - Indeed, she has received from the hand of the LORD double for all her sins.
Resurrection - Make straight in the wasteland a highway for our God! (Isa 40:2-3 NABO)
Just as it is appointed that human beings die - be judged - appear a second time, (so also Christ) …will return Heb 9:27-28 …as the (Red) Dragon (Demon Sin) stood before the woman about to give birth, to devour her child when she gave birth. (Rev 12:4 NABO)
There is a baptism with which I must be baptized, and how great is my anguish until it is accomplished! "I have come to set the earth on fire, and how I wish it were already blazing! (Luk 12:49-50 NABO)
(it is better to marry than to be on fire (1Co 7:9 NABO) Be fruitful, and multiply (Gen 1:28 KJV)
"For by my wrath a fire is enkindled that shall rage to the depths of the nether world (Abyss), Consuming the earth with its yield, and licking with flames the roots of the mountains. (Deu 32:22 NABO)
Down I went to the roots of the mountains; the bars of the nether world (Abyss) were closing behind me forever (Jon 2:7 NABO)
We saw his star (of Bethlehem) at its rising (Mat 2:2 NABO)
Up from the Abyss (Rev 17:8 NABO)
The star was called "Wormwood” (Rev 8:11 NABO)
It was given the key for the passage to the Abyss. (Rev 9:1 NABO)
I hold the keys to death and the netherworld (Abyss). (Rev 1:18 NABO)
'Who will go down into the Abyss (nether world)?' (that is, to bring Christ up from the dead) (Rom 10:7 NABO)
Warning of the impending Day of the Lord, he was swallowed by the Beast out of the Sea and spewed out upon the shore as the Beast out of the Earth, as the sun beat down upon his head and a burning east wind began the Way of the Lord in the Desert.
the one who is and who was and who is to come, the almighty (Rev 1:8 NABO)
The beast that you saw existed once but now exists no longer. It will come up from the Abyss and is headed for destruction. (Rev 17:8 NABO)

Of course he was created, created by Titus,Titus was Pontius Pilate, Pontius meaning God of the sea, Pilate meaning armed with a dart, Titus's satire, Titus was author of All biblical scripture, Titus says after Sodom and Egypt where THEIR lord was crucified, KJV Satanic translation says where OUR lord was crucified,to be crucified means accursed, Jesus just means saviour in Greek, Titus called all rebellious leaders Jesus, satire.
