great guest.. that was an outstanding interview and very informative
Matthew 1 was an addition - the Ebionites had no virgin birth beliefs.
Excellent thanks guys
The blind leading the blind.
Peter got it right when he quoted the proverb, 'The dog is turned to his own vomit again; and the sow that was washed to her wallowing in the mire.'
You are so brainwashed mate.
@keithsmith3678
The easy way to find out who is brainwashed is to have a discussion about the Messianic prophecies found in the Hebrew scriptures.
Do you deny that the Hebrew scriptures prophecy the coming of a king Messiah, the Son of David?
Choosing to ignore the evidence eh?
You need to remember that only the five books of Moses were translated by the rabbis, not the prophets.
The Dead Sea Scrolls are older.
They use young woman and has conceived.
Justin makes so much sense.
I am more about debunking the false doctrine of ECT ("eternal " conscious torment)
Off you go, then
@Mercury-Wells what does that mean?
@@jhq9064 😄
A prime example of 2 Corinthians 3:14-15. Or am I mistaken?
Why does everyone skip over Isaiah 7:14? Where it was originally prophecied that His name would be IMMANUEL!!!
The J-man was never called Immanuel. Read the context!!!
@davidbradberry7637 You read what I said. I didn't say He was call Immanuel. I said it was originally prophecied that His name would be Immanuel. If you argue that the Isaiah prophecy was a sign to Ahaz and had nothing to do with The Messiah, explain why it was referenced and repeated in Mathew? If you're not going to help get to truth and understanding, just don't say anything.
Have you reviewed the Soncino edition of Daniel?
Not sure why justin uses the septuigent as a resource. The original septuigent, translated by rabbis in the 2nd century BCE, was ONLY the 5 Books of Moses. That was destroyed when the library of Alexandrea burned. The septuigent that is used today is a Christian translation and was created with all the mistranslations intact. Not a good resource.
The NT does not make a calim that a prophesy means magical word by word prooftext. It is a typos: something what hapoened would happen again in more greater way. So, reading Is 7 in historical context differs from its NT fulfilment because what happens is that the at the final state the salvivfic work of God is something which goes beyound the orginal prophesy. Still, what happens in NT time has a root in OT text. Jesus was a cornerstone to whom pple hit thery leg - it is happening here even not literally.
Romans 5:18, 11:32-36. 1 Tim 4:10. 1 John 2:2, 4:14 shows my soterology
How about Isaiah 2:1-4; Micah 4:1-4. These passages are truly messianic and NEVER REFERENCED IN THE SO-CALLED NT.
THE J-man is dead and never returning.
@@davidbradberry7637 Jesus is Lord
Its clear enough to follow Pastor Holmes to a conclusion. His rationale does make it easier to sleep at night. I have seen his manner of reasoning countless times. It is clear that belief in any religious institutional dogma is flawed. I compare OT, NT and Quran to find a path to the undefinable God, though the path is a mess. If we look at the broader picture we can see that the lions share of our references come from the redactions of a single cultural group. There are distinctions of the voice in story narration that can be explained by cultural preferences.
For example; OT may lay claim to the God, of whatever cognomen, for actions that the Quran lays at the feet of Angels. Qu 8:54: ''we drowned the people", 27:58: ''we rained a rain'', 26:66:, 29:40;, 37:82:, "we drowned the others" In the cases noted, the1st person plural subject pronoun is used. This places the action in a group and renders the Angels equal to, or on par with, the Ultimate God. As this practice is a heresy in all Scripture, I believe that many of these miraculous actions attributed to God are more properly the results of administrative initiative. From this perspective a great many contradictions may [MIGHT] be resolved.
In the story of the ancient 'Watchers" a group of Angels had to report the chaos to the God at which time He responded. Pastor Holmes's rationale is comfortable to follow but I resist the idea that 'Faith' should be broken based on dependences of ancient source material. I do not accept the Christian or Jewish Cosmological interpretations, but the words have some relative value. "All this was not created in vain", seems to be a more impressive term - to me.
I like to look for likely answers to the problems of contradictions of history, archeology, and religious belief developments. That the Shapira scrolls Covenant Standards match the teachings of Jesus in Matthew is remarkable. How could he have known unless he was inspired by God to teach what he did? I think the rest of the NT isn't worth study, but will also acknowledge Matthew is altered. What if Jesus, in the original Matthew, only claimed to be 'that prophet' who came to "Restore" of Isaiah 42. The Aramaic said he came to renew the Covenant, not give a new covenant. see: "Romans Proves Paul Lied, have we inherited lies from our fathers?" (Jeremiah 16:19) Onediscipletoanother
It is weird , if Jesus was a simple and ordinary man why me,Jacob and Justin should have deep concerned about his fullfillment prophecy....m..confuse....!
Clearly
Because people are following this and believing in it to the point where they want it pushed on the entire populace, I did it for 38 years. I believed I had god on my side because I had the right religion and all the others were wrong and worshipping demons. I finally realized you can only have freedom of religion in a secular country it doesn’t work the other way around. But I also think that if your religion goes against the constitution you should be barred from serving in our government that makes our laws.
The J-man was definitely not the mashiach.
Northerners shamed slaveowners to the point that the latter started treating slaves better, and times were changing. A Democratic pro slavery paper said slaves were so happy and well behaved that they were more useful than poor whites. They wanted to make whites slaves, too. Anyway, saving lives and using the money on former slaves would have been saner than war.
Very good. It is also worth mentioning that the NT writers are doing exactly what Rabbinic teachers were doing contemporaneously and for hundreds of years after.Rabbis also grabbed phrases from the Hebrew Scriptures and applied them tangentially and out of context as divine patterns that they claimed related to the Messiah and the coming Age of the Messiah. Their sense of ‘fulfilled” included to fill fuller, so that they thought the scriptures could be pattern for several events over time, like filling up a jug gradually, or repeating a pattern in a mosaic. This is also the idea followed by the Essenes’ Habakkuk Pesher’ which interprets their own history for a few years under the Teacher as a divinely overseen pattern, from words all over Habakkuk, that they ‘knew’ ALSO referred to Providence-guided events at other times. The rabbis were praised for their ‘clever’ answers not their logical conclusions and fair evidence use. The NT writers are pale imitators of this rabbinical argument style.
The Nt are Gentiles who just made stuff up, misquoted scripture, took it out of context or sometimes even invented verses. Rabbis also never claimed their interpretation to be scripture. People could disagree with their interpretation. But the Nt became the "word of God".
Yes and that is why everyone should be skeptical
Yes of course. Without scepticism no one would ever change their opinion or behaviour. And the ‘evidence’ of the NT writers is all weak. Scientific methods of investigation was only followed haltingly by a few in all societies for a very long time.
Is this guy a Former Pastor? Catholics use the Revised American Standard Bible.
Catholics also has Mary performing all kinds of stuff and I’m still wondering how Mary and Joseph didn’t consummate their marriage on their wedding night like all marriages in the Hebrew lands. I don’t think Justin was a pastor long. Remember that there is “no” pastor school. Anybody can just be one or a Reverend by just printing out some sheets of paper. He uses the Bible to counter all arguments on his channel and there are no rebuttals to that.
NRSV, NAB, NABre are all certified Catholic translations
@@Deconstruction_Zone I was a Catholic for 36 yrs before I finally had to stop…or found reason over 20 yrs ago..lol. Thx Justin because we just read whatever was in front of us. No questioning.
@@Deconstruction_Zone certified mistranslations yes.
Isaiah 44:6 If the king of Israel is in heaven, how does the meschiach arrive without him beng the same as the one in heaven, or become idol worship if he is? Seeing your belief of being superior in knowledge is in evidence , i await your superior reply as evidence of such belief.
You put too much stock in a mythical story. Jesus may have existed but he was pushed to be the myth and legend rather than a philosopher at best. I'm guessing you chose to ignore the data?

Genesis 18 :2 , YHWH the Lord of the scriptures as well as two angels are men.. Now Adam when first created was in the image of Elohim and YHWH, Genesis 1:26 but due to gaining knowlegde of a moral dilemma, lost his sight of the construct that YHWH is judge over, thus YHWH becoming an external judge and authority over Adam and his offspring. Within the book of Job, a verse Job 38: 33 points towards a structure that has depictions of Orion and the Pleiades upon its surface, which is the vault described in the Genesis creation story. Genesis 1:14 This structure is the form the world was created to follow. It can be found upon the celestial sphere with dragon that heads the system of the beast. Revelation 9:11
You have been hoodwinked by mumbo jumbo. The Globus Cruciger is an inverted Ankh.
James 4 : 4 which is something that truly tells you not to trust your government. Now realise why those following christs teachings were persecuted for over 350 years by the Romans until a religion surrounding such was nationalized and institutionalised to aid those in power.
I would say frmer pastor never even realized what i have detailed above and has been living in a make belief all his life.
@Bluebaggins buddy there is countless evidence that Jesus wasn't God nor the son of God nor a man who performed miracles. The bible is full of non factual stories yet people take it to the bank. Been going on since the idea sparked.
Show me the empirical data that proves Jesus was anything other than a man.
People worship a dead guy....pfft yeah.... Now you got it figured out.

No, Jesus said he would not die in the hand of his enemies, Jesus escaped arrest of the Roman legion according to the Gospel of Barnabas
Add it to the list of gospels that tell a different story and aren't taken seriously because they go against the "story" they needed.

@mike1369-d8w read it from the Gospel of Barnabas which you believe not true but I believe it 100% true.
This is only relevant for people who are only convinced that Jesus is the messiah by all those scriptures you are referring to. It might be interesting to know when those references were applied to Jesus.

The new testement confuseion?
When Jesus said John the Baptist was Elijah, it was the most bald-faced lie in the whole Bible. When John the Baptist said he wasn't, the case was closed -- Jesus lied.
I tend to agree that the 4th beast in Daniel 7 (the horn with many horns) was not Rome. It works out perfectly if it's Antiochus Epiphanes IV, because that means the Maccabees fulfilled the prophecy. However, the Prince of Persia (Michael, your Prince in Daniel 12) isn't an angel, and Gabriel's name is not mentioned. There are also other Persian princes.
Psalms 22 clearly isn't about Jesus. Being pierced in your hands & feet is not how you die in a crucifixion.
And yes, Matthew 21 was a lie as well. Jesus never became king of anything (except lies & stupidity,) and he told his followers to sin by stealing a donkey & a colt.
@RightOnBro72
Why this ultra-weird delusional social and theological reformer is worshipped by millions in Latin America and Africa and, now, in South India is plain disturbing.
You people are all retarded. John is Scorpio literally one of the beasts of Revelation lol.
My god English people are pathetic at riddles. You will spend your lives arguing about astrology as if it happens on earth.. Maybe things will change in 2160.
Psalm 22 doesn't even say pierce hand. It says like a lion and it's about David
@@germanboy14psalm 22 16. Pierced hands and feet.
And the lion part is about davids enemies, not actually about david.
@germanboy14, if you watch the whole video, he goes into several different variations of what the original translation might have been. He says it might not have been "by a lion," but it definitely wasn't "pierced." Some translations have a footnote that says "Hebrew uncertain." Regardless, being "pierced" is not how someone dies in a crucifixion -- they die by asphyxiation.
Why don’t you debate other channels who do the opposite?
Probably because it's nonsense and no one would watch.
"debate "
@ I’ve seen the exact opposite claims, and backed with texts and books from history.
Both sides keep using the same old arguments and it gets us no where.
It just seems to be individuals biases that come first, and then sit in echo chambers.
@@nicolegallagher4319 Because?
People would hear things they don’t like ?
Isn’t that that the definition of intellectual coward ?
Debates are a waste of time - they teach nothing and change zero minds.. I see plenty where one side or the other Gish Gallops a bunch of half-truths and assertions in 20 minutes that would take several hours to pick apart, let alone the 10 to 15 minutes that are typically allocated for rebuttal. All the followers then head off into the sunset, hearing only what they want to hear and crowing victory, just as ignorant as they were beforehand. If you, or other channels you follow, disagree with what was said in this video - address it with a well-researched rebuttal video. TH-cam often recommend them in the related videos section for the video being addressed.
Bart Ehrman said all prophecies in the OT do not mention the messaiah in the context. If Christians find the word "twig" in the OT, waw that is the cross! No need for that; Jesus was the the messaiah sent to the Israelites. Any false prophecy that did realized was simply a lie or irrelevant. Second coming is the day of Judgement. God is the King not Jesus.
You refer to the sadistic god?
@@AmericanDevolution No, those were made up stories.
@@AmericanDevolution You are assuming the OT is true.
How much longer will people wait for this second coming?
@ it is the day of judgement non one knows except God. When a human dies it is his second coming. Jews conflated this life with the after life.
Well, the reason why John-the-Baptist denied he was Elijah because during the reincarnation process your memory is wipe cleaned. So of course John-the-Baptist would not know who he was in previous lives.
Case in point, in the Gospel of the Holy-12, Jesus (Ashayah) asked the blind man do you know who you were in your previous life? The blind said no.
How do you know the reincarnation process? What's more, how do you know reincarnation occurs?
