  • The Strokes is one of those bands that I've always wanted to get into but for some reason they've always escaped my mind. That is until I forced myself to listen to every single strokes album and review for this video

Personally, my favorite from them has to be the new abnormal. Since it’s release, I’ve felt every emotion possible while listening to that album. The last two tracks hit different man.
I agree that first impressions of earth is their weakest, although I do have a soft spot for heart in a cage.
    Keep up the good work!

if you wanna hear more Strokes electro-pop stuff, Julian's solo album Phrazes for the Young definitely goes quite full into that direction, it's very overlooked but certainly worth a listen if you dig the sound of Stroke electro-pop. He's also in another band called The Voidz that experiments more with electronic sounds but I wouldn't call it electro-pop. Their first album Tyranny is extremely experimental, lofi and almost noise rock at points (you might've already but listen to Human Sadness, you have to), but their second Virtue is a lot easier to digest and clean while still keeping relative weirdness and experimental-ness, both are very worth a listen if you like the idea of that sound :).

The New Abnormal is one of my top 5 albums of all time, I'm really glad you enjoyed it. I agree some songs take some time to grow on you, but I will never get enough of how groovy songs like Brooklyn Bridge to Chorus or The Adults are Talking are, and how viscerally emotional Not the Same Anymore and Ode to the Mets are. It's all around a great experience every time I listen to it

Julian Casablancas (the vocalist of The Strokes) actually went on to do a lot of side projects, some of which are up to par with some of The Strokes' best stuff. With that being said, I'd definitely recommend checking out "Virtue" by The Voidz-- it's basically a more polished and finalized idea of what The Strokes intended with their more experimental and electronic releases.

I remember hearing that Angles was awful during the recording sessions. Apparently Julian Casablancas (Lead Singer) wasn't in the studio when they first started to make the album and ended up just sending vocals through email if the band needed them, which caused a lot of confusion in the band and made the album kind of a mess. The album was a bit of a wakeup call for them though because after Angles they realized they needed to be together to record.

    My opinion:
Is This It is just the perfect album, production sounds incredible(because it was intentionally based on industrial music), the compositions are masterful. The lyrics are so good, they are kinda direct but subtle about it.
Room On Fire for me is just a more weak and repetitive Is This It, also, every song has a 7 second silence that just song. But It has some of the best band songs, Reptilia is their best song.
First Impressions Of Earth for me I get it that it is kinda forgettable on first listens, but if you attach to it, you just gonna end with their second best album. Juicebox is a banger, 15 minutes is just so creative. I think that is so overlooked. Serious dude, listen to Ize of The World and dont say to me that chorus just ascend you to the universe.
Angles just stinks, but the opener and the last song are good.
Comedown Machine has the "worst strokes album" title, but it doesnt deserve it. It really has some great songs and Julian has some nice vocals.
The New Abnormal, YEAAHHHHH BOYYSS, THEY TOOK 15 YEARS AFTER IMPRESSIONS OF EARTH BUT THEY MADE IT. Eternal Summer, The Adults Are Talking, Ode to The Mets, they all are some of the best band songs.
Yeah, Strokes is a phenomenal band, such an influential and incredible band. Hyped for the Swans one, they are my favorite band oat, great video kyle

You sound like the average youtube music reviewer who knows nothing about music and judges things based on his whimsical bro vibes 🤡
