The joys of trapping. I had a woman see me toss my bc trap out the car. She pulled up behind me and asked if she could have the mouse because I threw it out. I had to explain to her that I was a falconer trying to trap a hawk. She thought that was cool and drove off.
Wish I saw this sooner. I have a redtail the size of a golden retriever that loves to come by on race day, I also have a young Cooper’s hawk driving me insane you can come get whenever you want lol
@@FinsandTalons it’s massive. I see a lot of hawks because of the birds. This one is huge. It was eating a squirrel on the telephone pole in front of my house a couple weeks ago. I’m in NJ so not too far. You can have anything that pays me a visit lol and I have photos. Not sure how old it is though.
@@ScottH22175 Yes we have a trapping season that runs from August 1st to March 1st each year. Once we trap a bird we want to hunt with, we put a band on the leg of the raptor provided by the Division of Wildlife.
Love the videos and explanations. Best of luck.
@@Dubs805 Thank you buddy 🫡
I’ve seen a few nice birds on st rt 110 east of Napoleon. Lots of hay fields, power poles and irrigation systems they hunt from. Good luck!
Copy that! Thanks!
lemme know if you head up that way and Jeb is not available. I’ll roll with ya. I love trapping
@@ryanfreed4467 I definitely will! I'm going to give some local spots a try tomorrow and then start branching out if I don't get one after tomorrow.
You got it going on. I’m really enjoying and learning.
@@jasondeansmith79 Thanks Jason, glad you like the video. I'm looking forward to some fast-action hunting videos this season!
Keep after ‘em man!

@@mixedup72 Oh yeah, I get it all - usually people thinking I'm doing something illegal 😂
If you make your way over to NW Indiana, I can find you a juvie pretty quick. Loads and loads moving through the area since September.
@@thecggames I will definitely keep that as a backup plan if I keep running into these male Red-Tails! Thanks!
Good morning my friend good to see ya
@@andybass2045 Good morning Andy! Didn't hear from you last week, you doing ok?
@@FinsandTalons I was actually in the hospital all week having fluid build up on lungs and heart and private area doing better now PTL

Great video just wondering if you ever found the big female red tail you lost about a month ago it was a beautiful bird??
@@kenbadgett8383 Thanks Ken! No, I haven't. I was hoping we'd get a call or email with a sighting but nothing yet.
Great video, around what time did he hit the trap?
@@ap-nu3ck Thanks! This was close to noon. It got caught on the trap pretty fast too!

@@DanzaLoft That would be a hike but I'll keep it in mind if I can't find a biggin here.
How does the permit process work? Do you have a certain amount of time that it's good for or just until you're successful?

I imagine that the quicker you get a bird, the younger it is and easier to train. Sorry you lost the other girl.
@@ScottH22175 Yes sir. Thanks, I'm hopeful we'll find another good one.
