@@f1-mag oh yeah for sure, but something about those merc engines for me I really like. I think it's that they were louder on acceleration and they had a 'full' sound. I don't really know how to describe it other than it sounded like the only engine where sound was coming out of the exhaust, while the others sounded like there was a constant moving wall between you and the car that was blocking the sound. Also the cylinder cutting on the downshifts sounded like an angry barking dog. Not quite as good as Hondas raspy pops and bangs, but I still really like it.
@@CTcuber4K Yeah I can definitely see what you mean. The merc’s were very crispy on throttle sound and still is today tbh. And yeah and especially the Honda were very quiet on throttle. I also liked how lean the Merc sounded off throttle. They sounded really aggressive. I just think if I heard that Honda crackle irl I would quickly forget about the Merc’s lol. Not that it’s relevant but I have heard the RB7 live and oh my god that was crazy I didn’t think sound could be that loud. DC clutch dumped it into donuts while Erving the engine like 2-3 meters from where I was standing and holy fuck it literally shakes you up inside. Like it doesn’t matter if you have ear protection the sound waves just vibrates the fuck out of everything in your head so you hear everything anyways. Yeah just wanted to share that not that it is relevant.
Sounds much better in real life tho, you hear all sorts of sounds you never hear captured through any microphone really. Especially lifting off throttle and downshifting still sounds very good.
RB19 sounds DEEP, especially in person, I went to Interlagos F1 GP this year and the Honda engine really is nice
what a beautiful sound
My favourite sound from this era was probably the 2019-2021 Mercedes engines
Huh? The Honda sounded amazing those years

The crackles are distinctive, but overall I prefer the Mercedes PU: louder, throatier and more metallic.
That's a pretty low bar to clear, even a tuned out inline 4 sounds better.
Well, properly built 4 bangers can sound insane: m.th-cam.com/video/QdursTlrc2U/w-d-xo.html
This f1 sound it's horrible... 🤢
