I am an American who is not Pashtun/Pukhtun but studied the language of the Pukhtuns for 2 years and can speak and write fluently which I had to learn during my time as a adviser and analysts for the government. Basically he says "kulla ti ter Pashtun shoo, Afghan Shoo. BAAAS " which basically means "when you say they are Pashtun, then they are Afghan. FULL STOP!" basically he is saying a Pashtun is an ethnic Afghan wherever he may live. I am Khattak from a village near akora khattak from pakistan and i do not agree to the statement that if its pashtun he is afghan. this would have been true hundred years ago but now we are living in the present. today your passport is what defines the nationality period. hard cold fact we have to accept this. you can disagree to it or fight over this, pashtun from both sides of the border are the same, in terms of religion, values, ideology, lifestyle history and tradition but fact is pashtun have always been at war amongst each other for thousands of years khattak vs yousazai vs afridi vs shinwari vs bangash and so on. its only external threats that manage to combine all under one umbrella of pashtun. in a perfect world we pashtun would been united when Khushal Khan Khattak was preaching nationalism and combining all Pashtuns as Afghans but we dismissed it back then. 1) Babarnama: A Diary by Mughal Emperor Babar when he was fighting Pashtoon around Bunnu area (current Pakistan)1515 AD to 1525 AD. He mentioned that He was fighting Afghans around 600 years ago. He was the ruler of Kabul and there was no country in the name of Afghanistan at that time.
2) Khushal Khan: Khushal khan used the word Afghan for Pashtoon in his poetry in the time of Aurangzaib another Mughal Emperor around 1700AD. again current day Afghanistan 🇦🇫 as a country was not on the map.
So the man is dead right when he says that Afghan as a nation or Millat is Pashtoon Lar or Bar.
So Pashtoon can identify himself Afghan irrespective of citizenship or state anywhere in the world.

I am an American who is not Pashtun/Pukhtun but studied the language of the Pukhtuns for 2 years and can speak and write fluently which I had to learn during my time as a adviser and analysts for the government. Basically he says "kulla ti ter Pashtun shoo, Afghan Shoo. BAAAS " which basically means "when you say they are Pashtun, then they are Afghan. FULL STOP!" basically he is saying a Pashtun is an ethnic Afghan wherever he may live. Just to let you know you are only Pashtun if your father is Pashtun, which i came to learn during my studies of the culture. Hope that helps.

I am Khattak from a village near akora khattak from pakistan and i do not agree to the statement that if its pashtun he is afghan. this would have been true hundred years ago but now we are living in the present. today your passport is what defines the nationality period. hard cold fact we have to accept this. you can disagree to it or fight over this, pashtun from both sides of the border are the same, in terms of religion, values, ideology, lifestyle history and tradition but fact is pashtun have always been at war amongst each other for thousands of years khattak vs yousazai vs afridi vs shinwari vs bangash and so on. its only external threats that manage to combine all under one umbrella of pashtun. in a perfect world we pashtun would been united when Khushal Khan Khattak was preaching nationalism and combining all Pashtuns as Afghans but we dismissed it back then.
