However, there is much reasoning behind this. In order to understand the true meaning behind the word 'Pathan' and understand who they are, where they come from, and what they have done, we must explore the history of the Pathans.

@@agostocobain2729personally I as a pashtun do. Our language is part of the Iranic family tree so we can be considered an iranic group. But most people don't even know because most pashtuns unfortunately aren't educated on these matters due to situation in Afghanistan and KPK(Pakistani pashtun areas).

Ajab khan Afridi, Gen Bakht khan of 1857 and the bravery of 40th pathan Regiment in WW1.. they always fight against super powers like Britain, the USSR and US recently and win.. they were part of every battle at Panipat, Shershah Suri, Abdali etc...

Afghan is a Scythian word used historically for Pashtuns but Tajiks, Uzbeks, Hazaras can also be called Afghan. Tajiks (except the ones from Kulab) are very close genetically to Pashtuns, Many Pashtuns have Tajik wives and vice versa.
Afghan mean pokhton. All pokhton are Afghan but we have Tajik ozbac and lots of other ethnic on the other side all Afghan are pokhton but all pokhton are not Afghan because we have Arab mughol and Hindu and Sikh who are pokhton because of their language and their custom and culture and they are living with pokhton for hundred of year and they should have the right to call them selves by their ethnicity.

The issue with this statement is that many Pakistani Pashtuns would agree with u however when they identify themselves as Pakistani Pashtun afghans tend to criticise them this leads to confusion between the contrasting views as some afghans like u don’t claim pk Pashtuns as Afghan and other afghans say pk Pashtuns shouldn’t claim Pakistan at all and just identify as an Afghan in my opinion I don’t think it’s fair for anyone to have views and criticise another persons identity and I think since there is opposing views it is really upon that person to decide on how they want to carry themselves for example I am very fortunate to have been brought up in the uk but my father and many other members of my family like myself originate from the khattak tribe and we reside in Pakistan when explaining where I come from I tend to say I am Pakistani Pashtuns but I am ethnic Afghan “pull out ur sword and slay anyone that says pashtuns and afghans are not one .Arabs know this and so do romans ,afghans are Pashtun , Pashtuns are Afghan- Kushal khan khattak

@@DistantTravels This is called Post Modern Era. If Islam was not there we would be more advanced because in Islam change can be non tolerated. And look at this era no Pashtoon wants to adopt any change for everything they first look at religion in an era which is beyond or next to modern. 2nd thing is look at developed countries they have their own literature due to which they have identity i.e French Literature, German, Russian, British and American etc and French Identity, Russian Identity but how can we say Pushto literature or Pashtoon identity. If you accept Islam you have to follow Islamic literature and obviously your identity dilute. When the Taliban government came, first they destroyed pushto literature e.g. they break rabab, piano and other instruments which is the backbone of literature. They only follow Islamic interest, they don't look at pashtoon interest. So as the literature destroyed, identity crisis started and we nation lost our culture and identity. First study that how a religion dilute someone's identity, then study pashtoon culture and identity.
