There are a few key times when I invested in myself that looking back, I can see clearly how they paid off big time.
One of those times was deciding to buy my first tig welder.
Back around 94, I remember that I had to swallow hard to spend 2500 dollars for a syncrowave 250. This was around 1994 so that was obvious choice or me because there just weren’t nearly as many options back then.
I also had to get some wiring done in my garage because a 250 needs a 100 amp breaker.
But I remember seeing of some of my friends were buying bass boats or motorcycles with their tax returns and I thought to myself…why am I hesitating on this welder? I know this machine is a better investment than a boat..and… it will make me money.
I even took out a loan to buy it but I easily paid it off in just a few months doing side work.
I didn’t know it at the time but deciding to buy that machine paved the way for a lot of big things down the road.
Like a TH-cam channel with over a million subs, an online welding supply store at weldmonger.com and a great life.
Fast forward 30 years, If I were starting a side hustle today, I would probably start off with this welder.
Dont be afraid to invest in yourself.

Great content as usual Jody 💯
I sold my sand raiI, a badass Yamaha Banshee four-wheeler and a vintage small block Ford 302 tripower complete with original carburetors ,fuel rail and air cleaner.
All I wanted was learn how to weld and bought a brand new Miller 351 Synchrowave.. taught myself how to weld, moved to North Carolina and worked my way into the Nascar Cup teams as a chassis fabricator.
Go for what you truly want in life, it takes balls and most won't do it..
Thanks again Jody for all you do showing us a way to become better fabricators and welders!!

I have the PrimeWeld TIG225X and I have no complaints about it. I'm still learning and need to get some more seat time. I've used it to stick weld quite a bit but so far have been more successful in sticking the tungsten to my coupons then filler. Can't blame the welder on user error. Their customer service is awesome. I emailed a question on a Saturday night and it was answered by Sunday morning. I wanted to also say Thanks to Jody for providing us so much helpful information.

You should call sometime during work hours (eastern time) and REALLY be blown away with who they are . Gene is the guy you will most likely talk to, but then you just may talk to the owner (Mike) too . Both of these guys will treat you like a friend and knowledgeable ta boot .Hands down the best customer service you can get . :)

I picked up a dinosaur Miller 330 A/BP for $200 untested a couple years ago. i fixed one switch, re-wired the foot switch and replaced the gas hose (so I could trigger the arc with the foot switch instead of drag start). paid for the welder with my first job. only downside is the size/weight!

It sounds like a annoying mosquito in your ears I use my Tig 225x at 200 hz on aluminum on a lot of my repairs of dog boxes, truck boxes, step bars even on some cast aluminum it keeps the arc tight and focused where I need it. As I always do thank you for the great content and information you have shared with us I wouldn't be interested in Tig welding like I am. It's a enjoyable hobby to have to along with the auto repair I do as my hustle just another service I use. Keep up the amazing work awesome to seeing primeweld Tig welder in the mix in your shop..😊😊😊

my rehm tiger 230 ac dc has a preset for aluminium with autofrequency - "high frequency with pedal low - low frequency below 40Hz (dunno exactly rn) with 230 amps full throttle. you feel the arcstability with high frequency and see and feel the penetration with low frequency, but sometimes a wobbly calotte on the tig rod - the white ones working much better than the green ones.
    nice. thank you.

You'll see much more difference in how the process goes with different waveforms of AC. Most invertors gives just square wave because it's effective and very easy to generate using electronic transistor H-bridge. But some inverters can generate sine or triangle waveforms that requires more powerful microcontroller and faster MOSFETS. But those waveforms sounds different and feels different. Sine wave you can actually remember from that old buzzy boxes with heavy transformers inside.

Hey Jodie expect a pretty steep decline in Helium prices coming in a few years.
There was a gigantic Helium discovery found in Minnesota,
estimated to be the biggest in north American history and one of the biggest in the world.
It has an extremely high percentage of Helium 12.4%, which is 30 times the industry average according to reports.
It will probably take 18 to 24 months to make it fully operational and producing Helium for the market.

Great video Jody! Lose the earplugs and get you a set of Bose noise canceling earphones (Apple makes them too if you're an Apple guy) which will suppress the noise and let you listen to music while you work. If the phones don't fit under your face shield, both companies make excellent noise canceling earbuds. (I don't work for either company but I love my Bose phones and buds)

The primeweld will do ok on 120V power all the way up to about 120A. You can turn it up to 140A but it’ll pop a 20A breaker if you weld for more than 30 seconds or so.

How thick of aluminum can this machine weld without helium or pre heating with a 240v single phase outlet? Can it weld aluminum blocks / heads / manifold flanges, etc? I currently have a Lincoln square wave 255, but it struggles above 1/4" with AL without preheating and just running Argon. A video showing the true max capability of the machine for the average guy (non-helium) would be nice. Great videos regardless thank you.

I'm trying to decide between the Primeweld TIG225X vs the TIG325X. I'd be running it on a dedicated 50 amp, 230 volt circuit either way. Not super enthusiastic about running the water cooler, though. How much extra capability do you think the 325 has with no water cooler compared to the 225?
