Compulsory evacuation device should be a staple in Dark World. It not only removes problematic extra deck monsters like Dolkka and Naturia Beast, it can be used defensively as well. If your opponent tries to bottomless or D prison Grapha, you flip Compulse to save it and you get another opportunity to discard. Skill Drain and EEV are obviously great sides.
Dark world is one of my favorite decks. I think it is probably better and more playable in September 2012 format since all of the other decks got nerfed. No Wind up hand loop, macro in dino rabbit was less common, and there was only one hornet. Loved the video. Format was 10 years ago. Time Flies!
just a heads up for everyone, Papillon is the French word for butterfly, pronounced pa-pee-on, considering the artwork of papilloperative is a butterfly would mean it is pronounced “pa-pee-operative”
Skill drain was definitely something to consider in the side deck, it was the best floodgate the deck could use especially in matchups where the opponent’s deck struggled to get rid of big monsters like Dino rabbit
Your ability to remember minutia like what you sided in a particular event over ten years ago is incredible to me! I'd love to know what kind of record keeping you might be doing or sources you have access to, but you always provide enlightening commentary, and are a great historian for the game.
The Konami coverage is usually online. Sometimes through archives, otherwise through other means. Older stuff requires use of Metagame - which can only be accessed via website archives.

it's funny how western players completely bashed the style in which dark world was played in Japan early on only to come back and acknowledge that the Japanese had it right the first time. funny how things come full circle

I think Drain was good against Inzektor and WU. Rabbit still had Macro so it wasn’t an axis I’d want to attack

I think the only "top deck" I am missing from the format is Chaos Dragons
