Re: Bluetooth signal cutting out while running. Pro tip: wear the watch on the arm nearest the headphones signal receptor. For example, on my headphone, the device "dongle" is on the right side, so I wear my watch on that side. This seems to help. In the video at 4:36, you are wearing the Forerunner on your left wrist while the Bluetooth headphone receptor is on the right side of your body.
The usual problem with Bluetooth music players dropping signal is when the player is on the left side of your body (as in wearing a watch), and your headset receiver is on the right side. The water in your body makes it harder to get a signal through. I've had problems with the iPod Touch and iPod Nano but just moving them over to a pocket on the right side fixed it. That's probably not a reasonable solution overall with a watch though. I prefer to have a separate device for music as you generally have more battery life for both devices.
The music cutting out is very prevalent on the Apple Watch as well. I think it's difficult to stay within safe margins of RF radiation. I've found that depending on where the receiving antenna is located on your BT headset will determine how well your watch connects with the headphones. The fact that this watch uses a cable to transfer songs is a huge benefit. Ask any Apple Watch user how well transferring songs over BT works for them (it's terrible and takes forever). I'll eventually ditch my Apple Watch for the 645 music.
If the bluetooth music is cutting out ,its not because of the watch . Its the power in the signal from the bluetooth head phones . I can put on my sonys over the ear bluetooth headphones ,leave the watch on the table and walk back 37 yards before I start to lose signal . If I put in my ear bubs I can only walk 10 yards . I have about 10 different ear buds most of them are super cheap but they all give me at least a 10 to 15 yards range . Losing it within a arms length means your ear buds suck big time .
0:58 I have to disagree with you regarding the "cheap design" of the charging clip which might be very useful when you want to add a song to the device and you don't have to get it off from your wrist
I'm torn between the Vivoactive 3 Music or the Forerunner 645 Music. I slighty prefer the look of the Forerunner's bezel and I've heard stories of the Vivoactive's screen cracking - which would you recommend out of the two?
I have the va3, and repeatedly smash the watch face off the side of the treadmill etc. And have had zero problems. The 645 is more of an investment compared to the va3. The 645 is more for runners and the va3 is more for casual use/general activity tracking.
Typically Bluetooth headphones have a master and slave set-up. Most have the master on the right earpiece, so wearing the watch on that wrist normally stops the Bluetooth cutting out. Did you try this?
Yes, that was one of the issues. Some actually had it on the back of the device where the volume controls were. Those were the worst in terms of audio/Bluetooth connection. The odd thing is that I have not had this issue with my Apple Watch on any of these headphones, so I wonder if the Bluetooth signal coming from the Garmin is weak.
Techy Agent thanks, I had the same issue with my Ionic and would only be reliable on the right wrist. Which is annoying as I have tattoos on that side will effect the HR results. Incidentally I picked up the 645 yesterday so I'll test that today!
I haven't had issues using cheap senso activebuds with the watch on my left wrist, 20km runs; 170-180spm; 5min/km; sunshine, overcast & windy, night or day. You will get drop outs if the headphone battery is getting low. I might just be lucky.
Sir my garmin forerunner 645 is constantly showing less distance every time i run. Last 3 10k’s which i ran .it showed 9.69,9.6 and 9.59. Is there any solution for improving its accuracy.i am using gps plus glonass settings.
The problem with the strength profile is that even if it gets the reps correct, the reps go to zero and you have to enter them again if you also want to enter the weight. I can see how it would be easier to do that on the VA3. It seems like this is going to be the size and weight of a lot of the watches going forward. That’s good because it’s very easy to wear. I have the VA3 myself.
This watch disappoints by not allowing to record your hr in pool swimming (hr-tri, hr-swim) and power meters in cycling. The watch is sold with multisport capabilities but lacks basic stuff like pairing with hrm-tri and power meters?
I couldnt understand if it reads heartrate from the wristwatch while swimming. Does it ? Or should I go for the vivoactive 4 . I am searching for a watch that has an inbuilt mp3 player with bluetooth. And can track my heartrate well while running and swimming. Without chest band. From wrist.
I just got one to use for dog sledding and was curious what mode you thought would work best to record mushing runs? I was thinking skiing or bicycling but was unsure. Thanks!
looks exactly as if the VA3 sprouted a few buttons, but lost touch sensitivity which might be a good thing because mine always goes bonkers in the shower ... not sure if the music feature is not worth the extra $ over the VA3 and should've been the exact same price

Could it be that is better to have a Garmin watch around the ankle when doing weight training, maybe better heart readings. I just uploaded my review for the new Vivoactive 3 Music, and I would say that it’s probably my favorite Garmin product right now. I prefer over the other two you mentioned.

Pleeeeeease stop bobbing your head while doing bicep curls!! Don’t hurt yourself, I like your videos. Nearly nothing you did was remotely close to good form. A trainert can help you show how not to screw your body on the long run.
I stoped watching at the point when you said you are not going to go through all the features of the device. The title said detailed review but then you say you are not going to do that. Instead you concentrate on the impression the device make on you. Sorry but in review I would like to learn facts not the feeling. Everybody likes something different.
Info LastName :-) thanks for fast response. I posted my comment because I am also part of “rest of us” and believe there are different points of view. Reading Garmin website does not provide all the information at least not detailed ones. There is a place for description how given feature works in practice and if it provides the data accurately. Don’t take it personally , I just wanted to point you should not title the video “detailed “ when you want to omit important features of the watch. When I look for review it is because I want to know what the watch can do and how well. In any other respect very good and professionally made video.
Hi SpokoSpoko, I appreciate the feedback. And I deleted the other comment. I’m always looking to grow and get better, and so I’ll make sure to present more details in future reviews. Thanks.
In addition to the review above. Here are is MY personal verdict after about 8 months of extensive use: DO NOT BUY THIS DEVICE. As a running-watch it is the worst one I have ever owned. The GPS is extremely inaccurate and often quite all over the place. On average the watch measures distance +5% wrong. It might not sound too bad, but that's 2km during a marathon! This means that all functions that rely on distance (such as for example running pace) is more or less useless. I have been in contact with Garmin (excellent customer service!) and got a new watch delivered to me. However, the new one is just as bad. After analyzing other runners with the same watch on Strava it is fairly obvious to me that this is a general problem with Garmin Forerunner 645 (Music). Furthermore, (and as mentioned in the review above) I have yet not been able to use the watch for music as the connection between the watch and my headphones always drops after just 5-10 minutes of use. Finally, the built in analytical features on the watch is waaaaay off. For example according to the watch I should be able to do a marathon in 2:46:25, lol! ...I wish! :D Can any of the data really be trusted?
It is January 2023 and this watch is still for sale on Amazon and Garmin website. So I'd like to add an additional awful review. This watch has a design problem. The case is made of fragile plastic. So the lugs break after some time. If you are lucky and live in some specific countries, Garmin would replace yours for free. In some cases, they would ask you for some money, which can be a lot. And in other countries, you get a big sorry, not eligible. PS: the replacements are refurbished and break also after some time. I googled and it appears that you could buy a replacement case from China for about 20 dollars but they are all sold out at this time. Who bought them all, I don't know.
I still have not made up my mind if I should buy this or not..or should I go for Fenix 5 or vivoactive 3. Do let me know when you say between these 3 which will you prefer. Thanks.
Between those three, I like the vivoactive three the best. I feel like it’s the best value. If you have money to spend, the Fenix is also great, but the Vivoactive 3 offers most of the same features as the other two for much less money.
@@TechyAgent well, since you asked, the Bible clearly forbids people to decorate their body with tattoos. Setting that aside, they are just disgusting and ugly. Pleeeeeease stop bobbing your head while doing bicep curls!! Don’t hurt yourself, I like your videos. Nearly nothing you did was remotely close to good form. A trainert can help you show how not to screw your body on the long run.
👍 thanks, I’ll work on form!
lol stop...
@@TechyAgent Time under tension man.. My results skyrocketed when i dropped the weight and lowered weight slowly as well.. Way harder but way better
Dude, learn how til swim....
lol
Øystein Illøkken he said he wasn’t a swimmer 😂
Tbf it's better than it can do..he ain't drowning so I'd say its pretty good lol
Funny swim, LOL

So what other garmin are u suggest?
The rich runners watch
There are other much more expensive watches then this one. This is mid range.
"Im not a swimmer" yeah no sht sherlock hahah
Anyway good video
Non-eventful...
your swimming style is terrible :D ...
I know, I’m not a swimmer. I just wanted to test it to see if it detected my strokes and other relevant swim data.
I know :) , but you made excellent review video. Thumbs up for that.
Vivoactive 3 music out now ... nice, buying that :) thanks for help
Oh yes. And under 300dollars
Golf? Haha
why tf would you want this sort of shit in the gym so you can measure your heart rate lifting weights lmao what a gimmick
who give a shiny dog turd about an 'unboxing experience' late-capitalism is getting to be such a drag.
cheap and akward ? hehe suunto have done many times and it works great.. lmao
Oh man it's so bad
If a product does not deliver on its promises then why should anyone be remotely interested in what many calls a piece of (____)!!!
I am sorry you felt a need to scar and bruise your body with those hideous tattoos. God help you.
Do you believe that tattoos are somehow morally wrong?
@@TechyAgent well, since you asked, the Bible clearly forbids people to decorate their body with tattoos. Setting that aside, they are just disgusting and ugly. Why would you destroy your body with those ugly permanent bruises? I mean sure do what you want, but you ought to know what God thinks.Read Leviticus 19:28.

@@TechyAgent Your beef is not with me but with God Himself. If you want to mock God, good luck with that. You know that you're wrong, you just are not man enough to admit it.
Leviticus 19:27 says that you can’t shave the corners of your beard? So why don’t you follow that verse? Do you have a beard according to God’s standard? Or do you just selectively choose which verses you want to enforce and obey?
