Have we really learned all the lessons of the Triangle Shirtwaist fire tragedy? I don't think so. We still hear of locked or blocked exits, use of flammable wall coverings, no evacuation or fire drill practice...

The 🔺️ Triangle Shirtwaist fire 🔥 was on the news each year ( in the NY-NJ area) until 9-11; the fire coincided with a different event in my family and so I grew up with awareness of this tragedy. As I grew older I read more about it and understood the details. Sadly, the Triangle Shirtwaist fire is not often mentioned today on the news, though we can read of the memorial ceremony.
Though workplace safety is still not 100%, we completely stand with thanks on the shoulders of the Triangle giants for the workplace safety regulations that we do have.
Maybe someday the Triangle 🔺️ Shirtwaist fire will be taught in schools so that coming generations can understand how past tragedy improves our lives today.

Hard to believe my grandmother was alive in New York at the time of this fire. She’d have been 13 years old.
