- Baghnakhs Col MS Mann, SM,Ex-21ParaSF. His multifaceted journey is a testament to a lifetime dedicated to excellence, resilience, and making a positive impact on society. While serving in the Army, he was deployed in OP Pawan in Sri Lanka, where he was grievously injured during an operation and was awarded the "Wound Medal" and the coveted "Sena Medal" for his combat leadership during his command. He Commanded an elite Special Forces unit in intensive counter-insurgency operations, and conducted multiple intelligence-based combat operations, eliminating a large number of anti-national elements and bringing peace and stability to disturbed regions of North-East India. Under his able leadership and guidance, the Special Forces unit reached the pinnacle of glory, winning multiple gallantry awards and Chief of Army Staff and GOC-In-C Citations in two consecutive years. His stories continue to inspire a whole generation of young people to join the Indian Army/Special Forces and serve the nation with pride.
Leveraging the skill sets and competencies learned while serving with Special Forces, he transitioned to a corporate career in the field of Physical Security & Technology Program Management. As the India Security Manager for Barclays Bank, he delivered Security Systems Design and Planning for the second-largest Barclays Office Globally. He established a world-class Joint Operations Centre to act as a focal point for Incident and Crisis management in the Asia Pacific Region, audited all third-party vendors in India resulting in substantial cost savings of 30 million pounds for the firm, and leveraged technology to create innovative solutions to enhance security controls, user experience, and operational efficiencies.
In his personal life, his adventurous spirit and zeal for physical fitness know no bounds as he participated in multiple marathons and ultra runs. Most notably, he completed one of the most grueling runs globally, a 250 km race in the Gobi Desert in Mongolia, and figured in the Guinness Book of World Records for running a half marathon on the frozen Pangong Tso Lake at an altitude of over 14,000 ft. Now, he is leading an audacious Ultra 1000 km run planned for 2024 along the Western Borders of India.
Mandeep's commitment to health, unity, and environmental responsibility extends beyond personal achievements. Through his endeavors, he conveys a powerful message about the attainability of dreams through hard work and determination. Emphasizing perseverance and finding innovative solutions, he encourages everyone to challenge notions of impossibility and limiting beliefs.
