Mi 11 pro would take the most out of 888 imho
Remember that it's Samsung 5nm, that's basically a fix for Samsung's broken 7nm node. TSMC 5nm for apple is on a whole new level as it is a new process from 7nm with more EUV and smaller structures.
Samsung 5nm will still be plenty bit it's just slightly ahead of TSMC 7nm EUV if at all.
Mi 11 Ultra, and hopefully this time a proper global release.
not only Exynos 2100,bt Samsung also made a dedicated launch event few weeks ago for their midrange processor the Exynoss 1080.It is as powerful as SD865 which is a flagship processor from the last yer

Cuz it's Xiaomi device. Some will not agree with me, but I'll say it anyway. Even with newest, most powerful chip, Xiaomi will always stutter at smoothness level. I know this, cuz i used about 100 devices from many brands. I know which one is smoothest imo.

My S20 Snapdragon does the "zoom" effect when switching between the lenses.
Problem with the s20 is that most times the zoom prefers to crop using the main lense rather than switch sensors, when there is a sensor switch the stutter is noticeable but still smoother than the xiaomi implementation shown here
Samsung does it but it's still not the same as iPhone. It's just very choppy when switching lenses
@@pixels_per_inch my note 20 ultra change lenses smoothly when switching using the tree icons, when you zoom it manually it started to twitch a little when it touch the 5x zoom (also the blurry 4x suddenly get fixed by the telephoto when you touch 5x is kinda funny)

Snapdragon 888 got energy efficiency problem and it's confirmed by some reviewers in china, mainly due to Samsung's broken 5nm.
For some reason, Samsung fab products always comes as mediocre. It's always broken anyway.

Always liked your videos, takes & opinions, however the issue isn't with the Snapdragon 888, but the aging camera sensor that Xiaomi uses on the Mi 11, it's the same as the Mi Note 10 from mid-to-late 2019, which I think is also the same sensor used on the Mi 10 Pro from almost a year ago, a time when it was still perfectly acceptable even in the Pro variant. It's also, if I'm not mistaking, a variant of the one used in the Galaxy S20 Ultra, one that was not only taken to the next level with the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra, but even beyond that level, with the Mi 10 Ultra. So this sensor, despite it's number, 108 megapixel, sounding amazing, is 2 generations behind, at least, if not 3 generations behind. Xiaomi purposely reserved the best sensor for the upcoming Pro variant, the Mi 11 Pro, as the standard Mi 11 already throws everything in, but the kitchen sink, the kitchen sink being a much better & capable main camera sensor. The Mi 11 is to benchmark everything else, screen, processing, graphics, audio, etc, except the camera basically, with the Mi 11 Pro being that camera, with the Snapdragon 888, benchmark you're waiting for.

ANyways. The Xiaomi phones are really good and i never had ANY problem with them. No ads, no slowdown, and no crappy pre-installed apps. I use those apps cus they are great so i can't complain. Specs are good, price is good.. heck, why do we still buy Samsung again?
Dunno about rest of the world but in China Xiaomi' s brand image is linked to its early cheaply made phones and some dumb marketing decisions. Here Huawei is the Samsung alternative since Samsung is virtually driven out of the market.
Replying on my Mi 5s plus while auto-ing a game on my mi Mix 3 (main phone). While I likely won't get a Xiaomi if the price was the same as others, you just can't beat that price.

If I remember, xiaomi said that they will soon bring an update. So maybe if we wait for the update, then the phone can fully utilize the new SD 888

People like Dave like plastic, and I don't have anything against them, but I also love glass and when paying near 4 figures for a phone, I'll want something of value. Bottom line, it's because of paper spec, and personal preference.

This is great stuff but I don't think we should judge the SD888 by Xiaomi's implementation. Also Qualcomm has specific technologies on their Snapdragon chips, which are not present on the Exynos, which as I understand uses the same core configuration but slightly overclocked. This is great news for synthetic benchmark leaderboards, but can cause a plethora of problems with poor heat management, the most notable of which would probably be power efficiency.
The 888 seems like the release of the 810. Big hype, nothing special. Wait for the snapdragon 1000.... Competition?!?! Even the a13 chips beats the new 888 overall. Snapdragon is started to lag behind now.

Very desapointed with 888 soc from Qualcomm this chip is a little better than the previous 865 regarding performance but it needs a lot of power to do it.

This video is showing the wrong message, it's not snapdragons fault if Xiaomi haven't implemented these new features, considering it's so cheap, probably wasn't in the budget. Their pro or ultra phones this year will do this. Expecting too much too soon.

To be fair tho with 4600 mah, and high refresh rate with 1440p enable, battery life is great. We will see more phones with 5000 mah, so their battery life will be about 7hr which is obviously great.
Exynos is terrible, awful, kills battery life and makes any phone totally sluggish. Here in Brazil Sammy destroyed the S20 FE and the Note 20 Ultra replacing the amazing snapdragon with this piece of 💩... I wonder what they will bring us on the 14th 🤦🏻

actually some Chinese tester figured out that Samsung 5nm is so bad on power that if you overclock the 865's gpu to the same clock of 888's, it'll have basically the same perf while consuming less power.

@@jimking81 at 4:13 the ISP Smooth Zoom uses the zoom slider to get decimal increments/decrements which Dave Lee doesn't do on the video. The advertising clicks on the zoom levels but it really performs smooth sliding. Dave should check when recording video too.

The snapdragon 888 consumes more power than the 865 in a daily workload, that's why the battery life is short for the Mi11. but not only for Mi11, but it's also for all 888 phones in the future. let's see the S21.

Well the new thing is foldable phones which is probably gonna take off once apple does it on both the number of consumers with it and the number of devs that will continuously improve, update and make adjustments for the foldable aspect.
The industry, especially the software side (devs) aren't willing budge unless apple does it because market share...
