Sucharita please Kiran Mam ko screenshot bhej dena.
I come from Assam. People loved the movie here. Jitne bhi aaye the taaliya Baja ke gaye end pe.
There is so much I have to talk about in this movie. Maybe someday I shall tell her in person.
Also, Music of the film is ❤️❤️.
You are inherently kind and empathetic. It shows in your characters and approach!
The last scene Where the guy holds phool ka haath piche se at the bus stop. That was love in the truest form.
I shall never forget that moment. Captured with such ease...
Thank you, Kiran mam. This is why movies are important. I shall remember how it made me feel!
    Thank you! Big bug!!

A gem of a point was made by Kiran Rao in this interview- single women have rarely been portrayed living contented lives in hindi films. It's usually one of the many stereotypes- single women either have terrific sob stories which they never recovere from or they're hankering for love, sex and attention or they're scheming bitches.
Manju mai was such a breath of fresh air. Someone who has cracked the system, learnt to live on her own terms and does not suffer fools. Brilliant, inspiring character. ❤

Laapataa Ladies is the best Hindi film I've seen in the theatre in the longest time ❤ Saw a film twice in the theatres and the second time watch was also so entertaining! Wasn't bored for a second!

Here in the San Francisco Bay Area, a lot of us, who typically do not watch the mostly senseless Hindi movies, have seen Laapataa Ladies (mainly due to the word-of-mouth appreciation) and have loved it!
BTW, Kiran Rao - who I have never heard before - comes across as a very sensible woman here in this interview. Also, really appreciate her use of Indian classical music in her movies. (watched Dhobi Ghaat to see more of her work) Well done Kiran. We need more moviemakers like you!

I love how Kiran Rao pronounced your name "Sucharita" in a cutely typical Bengali accent. Exactly how a bong would say "Sucharita" ! Love it !!! ❤️
More comments after I finish watching the interview! Absolutely loved the movie ! ❤️❤️❤️

Absolutely! Both politicians and actors have the power to influence and shape public opinion, whether through passionate speeches on the streets or thought-provoking performances in theaters. Their ability to connect with people on various platforms gives them the potential to make a significant impact and contribute to positive or negative change in people's opinion and change society.

You two ladies were awesome! So real! Kiran Rao so nice to know your thoughts. You were seen n never heard all these years. After Dhobi ghat I had a different impression of you Bec you did not speak as freely then...now I totally love you and love every thing you stand for! You are a gem who was brought out into the sunlight after 13 years of self imposed hibernation. So glad we have some 'real' filmmakers who care abt women representation in films and behind the scenes! Otherwise sometimes toxic feminism n pseudo feminists can spoil the party. More power to you Kiran Rao. Love you loads❤❤

I wanted to watch Laapata Ladies with my friends but there was only one show available which was late at night. It did not work so we decided to watch Shaitan instead. I still regret watching Shaitan. Had the show timing been more convenient we would have watched LL.

Very good conversation and an equally good film. Wish this mouth-watering premise had come to me, but glad it ended up in the safe and talented laps of a sensible Kiran Rao and a maverick producer like Aamir. However, I feel kuch jagahon pe film thodi drag hoti hai but overall it's a well made entertaining film. Always been a fan of Sucharita for her unique way of reviewing movies and candid & sensible & "hat ke" conversations.

19:01..very pertinent..it resonates with every woman. The setting different but mansplaining happens in the garb of chivalry. Kiran, I adore and admire you. I wrote my own review. Want to share with you. Email id please. Lot of friends and family watched the movie after reading my review.

08:50 Come on!!!! But i thought that “fraud scheme” claim was debunked in the climax when she realised that No this groom is not like hers.. she just pasted her trauma on Phool’s case study!! It ended a positive way for both genders.. until you confused me here!! :/ Anyways.. i loved the movie.. it was kept simple.. straightforward.. harsh truth.. and pure emotions.. between good people!! Ravi Kisan’s characted was so well written too.. Manju Maai as well.. but come on.. don’t just filter out “fraud scheme” from it.. Marriage has always been a well-thought structure 2 genders collaborating.. definitely men have abused physical superiority for centuries.. but in movie Manju Maai was proved wrong in the end!

It can be frustrating to see creative work seemingly copied or rephrased without acknowledgment, especially if it closely resembles an earlier piece. Originality and respect for intellectual property are essential in creative industries, and collaboration with original creators can often lead to a more authentic and respected adaptation. If the movie you’re referring to has indeed taken heavy inspiration from "Ghonghat Ke Pat Khol," giving credit to Anand Madhavan or involving the original creators could have added value and integrity to the project.
Critics and audiences increasingly call out uncredited adaptations, and promoting originality is a positive trend in today’s media landscape. It’s also becoming common for artists and writers to protect their works legally, which can help prevent misuse or misrepresentation of their creations.

I know Amir Khan was instrumental for this film. But I don't understand why name dropping him in the title (before Kiran's name is even mentioned) is so important. Yeah, he is a megastar and a super important part of the production team, but can we focus on Kiran and her work more please? I am tired of seeing Amir Khan's mention in the title/thumbnail of every Kiran Rao interview for Laapata Ladies. What a beautiful film she's made, pls let her have the damn spotlight for herself. I wish Sucharita of all people wouldn't do this.
