Lived in the same town as him when he was with CLE. Saw him at the grocery store a few times, just shopping like a regular joe. As a kid, it was such an awesome experience.
I was 7 years old when I watched my first MLB game. Grew up in the tri state area in NY. We had the Yankees on MSG everyday. Cleveland just so happened to be playing at Yankee Stadium. That was in 1997. That’s when I found and began to idolize Thome. He was without question the most underrated player of his time. His birthday was 2 days before mine, that was a deal maker for me at the time. lol. Followed him to Philadelphia after 2002 season. Lucky for me, I lived just an hour from the Phillies’ AAA stadium in Scranton Wilkes-Barre. So I got to watch Utley, Howard, Madson, Victorino, Carlos Ruiz, Chris Coste, Brett Myers. A ton of players who played on the 2008 World Series team. I ended up idolizing Utley as a teenager. It was so awesome to watch Chase and Thome play together. When Thome was traded to the white Sox, I stayed a Phillies fan (I still am to this day), but I always followed Thome and his stats. I was lucky enough to watch Thome play until I was 23. He had a long career and was such a power threat. Not only a home run hitter, but he got on base at a .400 clip and also hit close to .280 for his career. 6:33 Dad took me to Yankee stadium on July 4, 2002 with the hopes of getting to see Thome break the record for most consecutive games with a home run, but in his last at bat of the day after going 0-for, he flew out to deep center field off lefty Mike Stanton, ending his streak. I went to about 10 games between 1998-2012 but never got to witness Thome homer in person.
His accomplishments during the time he played makes him stand out even more. When asked about steroids I believe his response was, "Steroids? Hell, I don't even lift weights!"
@@Chize41 Bro baseball fans are so naive and gatekeepy. They cherry pick who they let have a pass and surprise surprise its always a whyte guy. Doesn’t lift weights 😂 yeah and Bo Jackson didn’t either lmao
Yessir my request got done 💚💯, we need the insane prime of Clayton Kershsw, he’s getting old now. Also if you could do Roy Halliday, David price, and Lou Gehrig.
Same here except I was 8. Had visions the whole video of Thome pointing his bat, launching a dinger to dead center or pulled to right field and Hawk yelling "You can put it on the board, yes!"
The base of his swing always looked like it shouldn’t have worked but it did and boy did it work 🔥 I would consider Thome as “country strong”. Like Adam Dunn
Those 90’s teams were absolutely surreal. As a kid in the middle of it people I feel like don’t realize how insane the hype around these teams were. We didn’t have the browns and the Cavs were down prior to LeBron all we had were the Indians the new stadium and that was it. Thome and those Indians ignited a fervent lifelong love of this game for me and a lot of people of my generation
I love trout. But mlb loves to make guys seem better than they are. Ohtani is 30 already. Sure he will break some records. But he won’t come close to all time HRs, BA, RBIs…. He won’t come close in any of they and neither will trout. But they are the best players ever right?
I was at a Phillies spring training game when Thome was on the twins and I was trying desperately to get his autograph he was about to grab my ball to sign when out of no where Justin Morneau grab my ball instead. That was what 15 years ago, I still got the ball and I get a lil pissed every time I look at it lol
Dude right next to him in the high school photo when they are wearing blue is my uncle lol. They are still friends. I went to the same high school as him. It’s crazy to think he’s up there with babe Ruth and guys like that.
INSANE PRIME OF GARY SHEFFIELD PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Jim thumb was a weak player. 97 marlins fans don't care about the Cleveland baseball players. 97 marlins were that dude. Who would you rather have , Jim thumb or Conine, alou, sheffield , white, Johnson, Renteria , Castillo, Bonilla, counsel, and Kevin brown/Livan hernandez? I mean Jim thumb was ok. But you know, not a ws guy
Thanks so much for this video! As a Phillies fan, my love for Thome goes back 20 years. One of the game’s best hitters and best people.
Phils fan here, second that.
Thank you for watching! It’s awesome we can come together to celebrate Thome’s career 👏

Grade: D- (B+ for effort)
DO BETTER
This man killed me in mlb the show for years
Thank you!!! Proud to request a legend! Someday down the line I’d love to see Jose Ramirez getting his time to shine too

Gained like 40-60 lbs during his prime…if I told u wolverines made good house pets, ud believe me huh!?
@Chize41 No, he didn't. He was always ~6'5" and only got a bit chubbier in his 30s.
@@Brahmabullz google his rookie card! I’ve had many people see that and have that palm-to-forehead moment…trust me!
@Chize41 Whatever you say dude.

I've been hooked on your videos since the first one I saw. You are criminally under-subscribed, man! Keep 'em coming!
Finally, my request is granted🎉
Thank you for requesting him! I thoroughly enjoyed researching his career 👏
Yessir my request got done 💚💯, we need the insane prime of Clayton Kershsw, he’s getting old now. Also if you could do Roy Halliday, David price, and Lou Gehrig.
Lou Gehrig & Ken Griffey Jr on my favorite. I wanted to suggest Lou but I thought maybe he would be too old of a player to get any love
Any other era outside of the steroid era and Thome would have had like 4 MVP’s and would’ve been remembered a lot more than he is now… unfortunate
Insane prime of Willie May's next, please has to happen.
As a white Sox fan who started watching the Sox at the age of 9 in 2005, I needed this

I would consider Thome as “country strong”.
Like Adam Dunn
One of my all time favourite players, thanks for the video 😊🙏🏻

Love these. Said it before and I'll say it again--Tom Seaver's insane prime.
Watching this made me realize that Mike Trout is just a more athletic Jim Thome

Another banger brother
I appreciate you! 👏
In 1996 Cleveland scored 10+ runs 25 times, they scored 1 run or less 10 times, and were only shutout once

Please cover that other dude in 2002: Jason Giambi, my favorite player
Dave Winfield, Wille Stargel, David Ortiz and Hideki Matsui are my Requests
Ted Williams had a 20 year prime. Spend 5 years of that off fighting in the military. 2nd best batter ever, after bonds.
Alfonso Soriano 💪

Dave Parker⚾️

Jim Thome was one of the biggest Tiger killers I remember from my childhood 😂 always hated when he came to the plate bc I knew what was coming
I can imagine! He put up some video game numbers against the Tigers 😂
Dude is the most underrated ever .
Still waiting on The Insane Prime of Mario Mendoza

Anyone wants a good laugh: google what Thome looked like early on with Cleveland lol! Like 50lbs lighter! And played during that one era…hmmmmmm,!?
Does his body look like a steroid abuser? Use common sense guy
Never the best player in any team
Roid head
