- It was a great night for our 6th year doing a Haunted House projection. The neighborhood showed up in big numbers and cleaned out our candy supply pretty good.

@@edwardriddick7651, thanks for watching. This is called Projection Mapping, and is basically using a video projector to show a video on your house. The video is custom made to fit all the features of the house, so it looks like the house is actually transformed into something else. :)
Best one yet! Been a fan for awhile and have started dabbling in projections, and you are one of the main reasons. Only now I can't watch yours until AFTER Halloween. It makes everything else pale in comparison and I'd start seconding guessing everything I did! Great job and can't wait until next year.

@@joshb5898 will do, was running around so much last night that I didn't get to take a decent video of it so plan on trying tomorrow night when I have some spare time. Mine was more 3d yard figures like animated ghosts, pumpkins, tombstones and a very short whole house display that I did the day of.

I love your Halloween productions! I snagged your same projector for a pretty great deal, but one thing that has me worried is ambient lighting. How does this projector stand up against, say, dim lighting due to a streetlight?
Hi Nubz. Thanks for stopping by and watching. Yes, there are some great deals out there on the BenQ projector I'm using. When you get it, please clean it with some compressed air and consider buying a new bulb, as an old bulb and dusty lenses can cause a loss of up to 50% of the light intensity. The projector is a consumer projector and is therefore obviously not meant for our purpose, and that does come into play with ambient lighting. I have to physically cover our closest street light and ask neighbors not to have their porch lights on (which is doable because I'm only running my show one single night), but I still have incoming light from other streetlights I can't reach (and one year a full moon). So I'm limited to using only the brightest colors if I want the best result. Anything in the darker regions of the color pallet is a no go, and just becomes a grey muddled mess. One day, I'll be able to get a better projector...I hope. :)

This is a BenQ MX819ST with 3000 lumens and the paint on the house is “tan” or “sand” - says my wife LOL.

Hi Debby. Thanks for watching. I believe it was when I saw the 100th celebration of the bike race Tour De France, where they transformed the Arc de Triomphe in Paris with projection mapping. That got me looking into the technique and gave me the idea to do something similar on my house. :)

Oh how wonderful! Can´t stop watching this video over and over again and I am just overwhelmed by all the effort that´s in this project. I can´t imagine how long it takes to create something like this?? I am really impressed, this makes me wanna move to America ;)You guys put so much love and passion to the Halloween-Season!♥ Unfortunately here in Germany, the Halloween-Season is not (yet) as popular as in the US, but it gets a little more every year...I don´t know if some kids will come over for a Trick-or-Treating. Last year I saw already a few with their costumes running in the streets. I´d be pleased and I will be prepared.:D

I've done this some years now, so I already have the equipment needed to make this (computer, software and projector), but the budget for the actual video I project onto the house is only around $40 and that is for the singing ghosts, some of the skeletons and shadow videos that I got at AtmosFX.com. :)

Hi Chris. I actually only run this on Halloween Eve, so no need to protect it - actually let me correct that: one year we had a bit of a drizzle, and put a canopy over the projector. :)

Hi Sam Reed. Thanks for stopping by and watching. I'm using a "Short Throw" projector, which projects at a very wide angle, so I'm only about 30 ft away from my house. I have the projector on a stand and have "fenced off" the area right in front of my house, so no one walks in between the projector and the house, casting big shadows. If you look at the "Halloween House Projection 2016 Wide HD" you can see the silhouette of the stand to get an idea of the setup. :)
Wow the sound affects are really cool, did you and your friends/family do the voices and singing? The voice acting is really impressive

I wish I could do something like this for my kids and our neighborhood, I don't have a big house but it would be fun. I'm not great with computer programs, but I would love to learn how. I'm a single mom so it would be awesome to do for them cuz this is our favorite holiday.
Hi Aaron. Thanks for watching. The learning curve for doing something like this video is a bit steep, but it doesn't have to be this elaborate to have a big effect. Just lighting up the house in color, and including a few effects and skeletons is pretty cool, because of the scale of it. There are a few beginner tutorials out there to watch if you feel you're up for the challenge. :)
