    I take chromium picolinate a very high dosage. I also count calories. It is the only thing that has consistently regulated my blood sugar levels while dieting to lose weight. Before that diet and exercise alone weren't enough to change my body. Now I don't need to work out I just count calories and supplement accordingly. I've lost 50+ lbs in 7 months.

    I have been taking Chromium for just a week now. The first couple of days my cravings were there, I was quite disappointed. But on day 3 or 4 the magic happens for me, I could not believe it. Yesterday I had to stop eating mid meal. I kept the rest for dinner. So basically so far my appetite seems cut in half. Also I can eat carbs with moderation, without the urge to grab some more. It's only a week so I'm not sure how it will go in the long run. So far so good.

      @@goldstar846 yes exactly. I actually just started experimenting with it a week ago. I had been keto for weeks and a bit apprehensive about eating carbs again but of course I also wanted to enjoy it haha . First two days of taking Chromium I felt nothing different but on day 3 it kicked in so day 4 I indulged ( within moderation but definitely had way more carbs than usual) and two beautiful things happened well 3 actually 1/ I didn't feel this urge to reach out for more. 2/ I didn't feel bloated. 3/ No change on the scale next morning.
      I struggled for over 2 months with histamines, to the point I felt so short of breath I couldn't sleep. Saw many doctors but not helpful, nor the drugs they gave. I eventually found relief through an inhaler 🤷 and as soon as ai was able to stand again did keto and exercise. And started researching supplements because doctors give me drugs full of stuff I do not want to absorb and don't work for me anyway. I guess we have to find this out for ourselves.

      U mean u take 500-1000mg of chromium?

  • @karlint39
    @karlint39 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

    Mistakenly taking 200mg of chromium would seem difficult since capsules are typically 200mcg or so. You'd have to take 1000 capsules, which most people would notice, I'd think. Are there capsules on the market that are 200mg? If so, what are they for???
    I'm hoping chromium picolinate supplementation will help reduce the insulin resistance and Cushing's syndrome that has resulted from taking high doses of prednisone for an autoimmune disease. This has caused me to gain fat and lose muscle mass over the last several months, and avoiding carbs, increasing protein and exercising has done nothing to stop this rapid muscle-to-fat conversion that has happened while I have been on prednisone. I haven't measured fasting insulin, but my blood glucose has been sky high, and my HbA1c has gone up from 5.0 before starting the prednisone to 5.7 two months later, and presumably it will be over 6.0 after I have been on the drug for 3 months. No help from the doctor on mitigating the side effects of the drug so far. I don't have a problem with weight -- it's just a problem of body composition, which again, must be the result of insulin resistance and gluconeogeneis and catabolism.

    • @freeurmind2871
      @freeurmind2871 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @karlint39: Your body doesn’t convert “muscle-to-fat” EVER. That’s just not possible. Muscle cells & fat cells are completely different structures of cells. There’s absolutely no process in the human body that would allow that. Prednisone raises your blood glucose level and that’s probably the reason you developed insulin resistance. If used for a long period of time, it leads to what’s called steroids-induced diabetes which’s what you most likely have unless you were already diabetic/prediabetic before starting prednisone!

    • @karlint39
      @karlint39 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@freeurmind2871 The body converts muscle to blood glucose, that's called "gluconeogenesis." If there is excess blood glucose, the body stores this as fat, a process called "lipogenesis". So you are correct, that there is no one process, these two processes work to achieve the same result as what I was saying. Thank you for correcting me. Think about it, if a caveman is on a hunting expedition and goes without catching something for several days, it would be useful to convert body tissue to fuel, so having this ability is a survival advantage in that scenario. BTW I did not have insulin resistance before starting prednisone! BTW now that I am off the prednisone, my insulin resistance and HbA1c have come back down. I don't need the chromium picolinate

      I've been taking it for 4 days now, and it has definitely suppressed my appetite. I have the 1000mcg pills, but I do cut it in half as that may be too much for me, and I always eat something before I take (if not a meal, then a piece of wheat bread or a banana works for me too.)

    I have seen of your videos. In each video you mention that none of the supplements have any effect on weight loss. Why were they promoted? For example the Keto diet doesn’t help everyone even though they said that it’s scientifically proven to lose weight. Caloric restriction seems to be the only path according to scientific evidence. Is that true though?

    • @lily-annmacdonald7664
      @lily-annmacdonald7664 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @diablovalley - It might not make sense, but oddly enough, it hasn't even been that hard. I think maybe it's a self-discipline thing - you just have to decide to do it, I guess. It's been a month already, and it has become more or less a normal routine. If I'm exerting a lot of energy throughout the day, I might have a heaping tablespoon of peanut butter, but not usually. By mid-afternoon, I am certainly aware that I am hungry, and by about 4:00 or 4:30, I've begun preparing dinner ... which usually has us eating by about 5:00 or 5:15. I drink lots of water throughout the day, and that keeps me hydrated. I've heard it said that often people think they're hungry when they're actually just thirsty ... I think that might be true. In fairness, however, I am retired and not a lot is required of me - if I was still in the working world, this might be much harder to do.

Everyone is different, so just because someone you may know who has the same or similar experiences with their pregnancy doesn’t mean it’s safe for you or your baby. For example, family history/genetics from 50 years ago still plays a major role in your health. Hope this helps and congratulations on your pregnancy! Happy New Year! 🎆🎊🎈
