Working there would be like a sinners paradise. The temptation of sticking my head in one of the mixers and catching a face full of cherry jellybeans would be too much for me to handle.
Fond memories of a summer job I had at Brach's. I was just a general laborer, but loved the job and the company was fun to work at. When I got hired, they had an orientation class and told us not to feel guilty about tasting the candy. There were some guys who ate a lot and got sick of it, and some of us just took a few pieces every day and enjoyed the experience.

I really miss “How it’s made”. Also, there’s that saying that once you’ve seen how your food is prepared, chances are, you won’t want to eat it again. It takes so much skill to film it in such a way that makes fans want to find out where the factory is and make an order. 😍 P.S. The machine covered with corn starch that you seen was called a Mogul. Every year the machine requires a complete breakdown and every bearing is replaced because of the abrasiveness of the starch. There are hundreds of bearings and cam followers in that machine.
I've worked food service jobs, and my wife has done homemade baked goods. Trust me, the more time you spend around a food, the less appealing it becomes to you.

I saw the method of making temporary molds out of powdered starch in a How It's Made video on gummies. I bet that method could work at home too. You'd just need to fill a rectangular cookie sheet with starch and tamp it down, then make indents in the starch and fill them with gummy material. Once the gummies have set, dump the whole tray into a big sifter over a big mixing bowl and just sift out the gummies.
You'd get nauseous just from the smell of them after working there one day. Believe me after you do this sort of thing all day long you lose a taste for it.
