I use rattle cans. I prime it, spray with the rustoleum professional undercoat, then follow that up with semigloss black paint. It makes it look like a brand new truck.
Dupli-color rust barrier can get it in a rattle can or for a spray gun, it lays down nice and seems to be holding up pretty good so far no flaking or peeling
Master coat makes a frame paint that is guaranteed no rust for 25 years. They have it in many different colors and in flat and gloss. It is made to spray from a gun and looks amazing. I used it on my 99 f350 frame 3 years ago and still shines like the day it was sprayed. Way better than por 15.
You should get rid of the stock tank and put a sixty gallon tank in it. I put one in my truck and love it. I get about a 1000 miles per tank. I pulled the whole interior on my truck and added sound deadener insulation to the cab all the way up the firewall and the back wall. The truck is so quiet that I can have regular conversations while driving. Geno's sells a cushion to replace the drivers seat cushion and it is a great improvement.
I would use rust converter on the frame and raptor liner over the top of it. And you finally got a second gen yay. have one myself and fixing some of the stuff wrong with it is hard as there is no decent videos on youtube about it.
I wish my second gen was that clean, it gets winter driven here in ON, Canada and they stuff they pour on the roads has taken a serious toll on it haha.
POR-15 is the best, I used it on the frame and in the cab on the floor on my 1985 GMC with a 6.2. And it has a nice gloss black finish and it completely makes what you coated rust resident!
Makin &72.23 an hour watching this! Life is good! Rustoleum farm implement paint will even coat over rust and will not chip off, all of my frames and axles on my off road rigs are coated and still look awesome after years of beating!
every vehicle I’ve ever seen with undercoating it seemed as though the undercoating created more of a problem than anything else. but that’s just been my experience. once the undercoating starts cracking and peeling you have a mess and the only way to fix it is to get it all off. me personally I just go to Home Depot and buy a gallon of rust-oleum and thin it with NAPTHA home Depot carries that also and lay it on with my air sprayer. use acetone for cleanup. I’ve done several frames with it the shit works awesome comes out like glass. i’ve even sprayed motorcycle engine covers with it and it holds up to the engine heat. been using it for years so far no problems the only thing is it doesn’t seem to have as good UV rating like automotive paint. but for under the truck,Engine compartment, door jams,Brackets etc. it doesn’t matter and it’s more durable than automotive paint anyway.
Chassis saver or por15. I do have an odd request I am going to be putting a air dog or fass on my 02 soon with a sump. Can you show where I need to add the sump with built in return and what to look out for. As in a sending unit (duh) or a fuel wave door or anything in it. Thanks for all the helpful videos.
Anyone else notice how Greg A moved a head gasket off the top of the pile of parts @ 5:09 is there a subliminal message? Or did I miss Greg A pulling the head off something
I just did my truck last month with a coat of rustoleum rust reformer, let that set for a day or so and then it makes a perfect surface for their undercoating and stops rust hard. Also looks smooth and amazing
I use Speedokote Trc-15 .... it works great and unlike Por-15 it will adhere to painted and non painted surfaces. Por-15 is strictly for rusty surfaces if you read the product description. Personally I think it sucks, but we all know about opinions lol
Did my whole frame on my 98 GMC K2500 with POR-15. Just make sure you use the metal prep and top coat finish! Since the base is susceptible to UV damage.
my dad and I are in the middle of restoring and converting his two wheel drive 24v to a 4x4. the frame we got was in a little better shape than yours. but we brushed por-15 and it's just as smooth as if we sprayed it. good stuff
As particular as you are, you say you only want to sandblast the frame from the cab back. But, I think you would be happier to do the whole frame like you did with Gen 1. I realize it’s a lot more work. But, you would be happier in the end.
oh, hi welcome to the Greg A channel were every truck must be 100% clean and beautiful.
I use rattle cans. I prime it, spray with the rustoleum professional undercoat, then follow that up with semigloss black paint. It makes it look like a brand new truck.
The bd diesel ad in the middle😂😂
Dupli-color rust barrier can get it in a rattle can or for a spray gun, it lays down nice and seems to be holding up pretty good so far no flaking or peeling

3M non rubberized undercoating is the best in my opinion

MasterSeries silver primer sealer is the best on rust and can be topped with any under coat you would like to use... and I mean it is the best!!!
Por15 painted on right from the van is the way to go... u can get gloss black and it looks beautiful when it dries and has little prep work
Por-15 out of a spray gun. It works great and looks even better

I used POR-15 for my truck. I swear by that stuff!
Vht- roll bar and chassis spray can only way to go looks great
Por -15 hands down the best shit for frames and other stuff
I would use rust converter on the frame and raptor liner over the top of it. And you finally got a second gen yay. have one myself and fixing some of the stuff wrong with it is hard as there is no decent videos on youtube about it.

You da man Greg!
I know it's a bed liner but, Raptor Liner is tough stuff and good price.
It is brush on but you should really try it and it’s called POR 15. It is also a little pricey but for what you are doing it would be perfect.

Wish someone made a full replacement dash. Top and bottom parts

I miss my ol 2nd gen dually some days.

THE DASH?
I thought it was going to be the dash
I use nexstar under coating in a can for all the semi frames at my work when we restore them. Works amazingly last years on end.
As particular as you are, you say you only want to sandblast the frame from the cab back. But, I think you would be happier to do the whole frame like you did with Gen 1. I realize it’s a lot more work. But, you would be happier in the end.
WHERES THE DEDICATED DEWALT FUEL SUMP DRILL??
Dont use anything rubberized coating if you leave any rust at all to paint over
