      @@susanlockinger749 I use three different types. I have a special uva/b string of 4 tape-able lights for my propogation station and I have 3 adjustable lights on sticks with 4 lights. It is hard to describe. I bought them all on Amazon. Just search for grow lights. Calikim has a video about the necessary lumens and kelvins. I also use high lumen and kelvin lights with clamp set-ups. She has a video for how to set that up as well.

I have a few types of lettuce, green onions, 1 strawberry plant (but I am trying to germinate more), spinach, celery, and Tiny Tim and Patio tomatoes. I have English Ivy and Japanese Honeysuckle and growing up the walls of my inside entryway. I'm considering planting indoor tomatoes alongside them. I'm just not sure if Tiny Tim tomatoes have vines that would grow up the walls the way ivy does.

    • @CaliKim29
      @CaliKim29  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Tiny Tim tomatoes are determinate tomato plants, which means they tend to have a more compact growth habit compared to indeterminate varieties.
      They may not climb walls like ivy, but you can guide their growth upwards with the help of support structures. This can help maximize space in the garden and keep the fruits off the ground, reducing the risk of pests and diseases. Go for it!!! Be prepared to guide them up! CK

    Personally, I find it easier and safer for the plant to tap around the fabric pot and bottom. Then tip it, dropping off extra soil. Then you can easily separate the plant from the pot. These fabric pots tend to grab some of the roots at the bottom of you are a little late transplanting. That's why I found a spatula is best to use around the edges...

    • @CaliKim29
      @CaliKim29  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hello chilly in Canada!!! We have a good friend in Ontario, North Bay! It DOES get chilly up there.
      To respond to your question:
      It depends on the temp. in the basement, even with the grow lights on, tomatoes need ideally between 75-80 degrees. The warmer the better.
      Herbs (warm weather) need the same temps as tomatos- eg, basil.
      Cool weather herbs, parsley, cilantro, chives, can grow in cooler temps around 60-75 degrees.
      I hope you can make something happen!

    I have two tomato plants in one pot. Are they essentially choking each other out? They are definitely intertwined full size cherry tomato plants. The stalks are probably 8 inches apart.

    • @CaliKim29
      @CaliKim29  21 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Having two full-size cherry tomato plants in one pot can indeed lead to some competition for resources, especially water, nutrients, and root space. While they may not fully “choke each other out,” overcrowding can lead to stunted growth, reduced fruit production, and an increased risk of diseases due to poor air circulation.
      If separating them at this point would cause too much root disturbance, you might focus on consistent watering and fertilizing, as well as pruning to improve air circulation. Alternatively, you could consider transplanting one to a different pot if possible. If you found this and my videos helpful, please do subscribe - CaliKim

    Importantly, grow lights have colors which duplicate the sun's color spectrum. LEDs can be gotten which offer the same color sectrum and cost far less to operate. A friend hasvhad success wrapping christmas lights around and above plants. They're intense, not hot and onlybthe foliage needs the bright light.

    • @CaliKim29
      @CaliKim29  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Edward - I've never used Christmas lights, glad they worked for your friend. However, I'd encourage folks to check the lumens and kelvin, before they purchase any grow lights, lumens should be between 1500 -3000 , Kelvin: between 4500 - 6500K. You'll see these specs on the back of the light bulb package. More info in this video: bit.ly/CaliKimEasyIndoorGrowLights.

    Would this work in Ontario Canada? How much does the whole setup cost? If it's costworthy, it seems to be an ideal solution for poorer families who say they find it too expensive to buy fresh fruits and vegetables i.e. "healthy food" in supermarkets. This could be a wonderful option that could assist families in healthy living. 🙏🙏🙏
