Shimano Stella 2500FI full tear down service & maintenance

The last of the 4 reels i picked up recently, Shimano Stella 2500 fi
Flagship reel turned out to be in near new condition as i wasn't sure of its previous history
Full tear down, re oiled & greased except the drag stack & the knob as they were in great condition

Hey mate your vids on servicing reels are awesome.
At the end of the vid you said not to put oil on the spool shaft but shimano says to add oil there. What’s your reason for not adding oil there? Also where did you get that tool for spinning the bearings?

I don't advise putting oil down the shaft, oil can enter the one way bearing and make it slip and handle will go backwards
If anything I would prefer a very light rub of grease instead of oil
The tool I got from a guy from the U.S.A, you can find him on fb or instagram, look up 'Bearing bad tools'

Cheers for the reply. Yeah the vids have helped me pull apart my 2500 vanford and put it back together. Do you ever mark the pinion shaft and drive gear so the teeth mesh stay the same as when it came from the factory?
When I pulled my vanford apart and put it back together I didn’t mark them and when I put it back together it felt very geary. So I pulled it apart many times moving the drive gear 1 tooth at a time until I found the sweet spot. Killed my life😅.

What size screw did you use to take the rash-guard off from inside the reel?

I used size 2.0 flat screw driver

Vision rc Ultra cleaner
You can use any other white spirits like WD40 Contact cleaner or carbi cleaner
