What I love about these Canon Powershots is that you can easily hack them using CHDK to shoot RAW images. Definitley a game changer with this older tech!

This rings very true. I had the Ricoh GR Digital - the 2007 digicam version. I also have the newer GR II. I used the older GR D far more in its day than the GRII and the GR II’s photos lack something. My current favourites are canon G9 and a LUMIX GF1. Small, handy cameras, not perfect but that make you look for things that you wouldn’t see otherwise.
I was also shocked by the quality of my macro photo's! This camera is perfect for taking "bad" photos at parties (red eyes and all) and pretty good pictures when i have good lighting. Its almost always in my bag when i go out :)
Outstanding video, very engaging. I can relate entirely, I have a couple of old digicams, in particular a similar one to yours, a Canon Powershot A650is it's a 12mp 1/1.7" CCD sensor, which is quite a high spec for a 2007 point and shoot camera. I like that it has an optical viewfinder and a fully articulating rear LCD screen. The images it takes have that filmic, retro quality and the colours are rendered very naturally. I noticed your Olympus mju zoom 80 film camera, I've had a few of these now, currently have the mju zoom 140 and I'm always happy with the quality of the photos it takes. Depending on your camera this might be different, but on the A470 you can manually change the ISO when you’re in M mode. Aperture and shutter are always automatic, but there’s always exposure compensation!
