I found your channel via The Hoof GP. I have learnt so much from Graham's channel, a horse owner I have learnt more about hooves than I ever knew before! I never realised how similar cows feet and their structures are to horses hooves. You guys are excellent and very educational, wish the equestrian sector were so good. Thanks you stars!!

Seen this a couple of times. Graeme was very helpful and kind. The lad really learnt something to keep in mind. For a lad and his Dad he is doing quite well. He is very kind to his stock. Didn't like his crush, I thought a bit more padding on the leg grip. But what would I know. He is a keen lad so worth the time. 👍💋

OK I don't know how I missed this video! It's so great to see you guys both doing this together especially because I think you both show there is a humane and caring side to farming, you guys care so much about the animals you own and work with and I've seen some pretty crappy farmers and hoof trimmers on TH-cam who shouldn't be in the job of taking care of animals all they see is making money and not animals who deserve some kindness for all they give, it's a pleasure not only to subscribe and like your videos but also share your channels as much as I can and help get the word out about the humanity you show keep up the great work!
You know I've been watching Graham, and I know he's also about prevention, helping educate and persuading farmers to make the changes that help preventing the bacterial issues etc. Preventive measures, also, funny how I'm watching from the States, Arizona and Tom says he's come all the way from Scotland to help you out! Lol All the way, 😂😂🤟👍☘️☘️☘️
Found your channel from Hoof GP although I remember him talking about your farm on his other videos. I subscribed and can't wait to watch your other videos.
Was great to see them both together and asking questions of each other and sharing that knowledge, even with just that casual comment about about trying to help make the cow more comfortable so he was going to put her in a pen to coddle her in a recovery stall, which is usually filled with scattered uneven straw floor usually about at least a foot or so on the concrete floor to give them more comfort, but stepping on uneven surfaces means the block can’t do its job either 😓. (some use wooden shaving or sand as bedding because it is softer than being on their regular concrete floor. That simple comment gave insight to Tom, and most likely to hundreds of other dairy farmers as well. Best of all is the thousands of other dairy cows who will heal faster with less pain 🤓 while the farm might also see a increase in their profit margin as well!

I want you to know something that stood out to me about the HOOF GP , just before this video I was watching a video from another trimmer (name not mentioned) and the hoof he trimmed had a lot of these white markings and instantly my brain thought “ I wonder how that happens or why it happens , is he burning the horn by too dual of grinder ?” The thoughts trailed but when HOOF GP came across it. I grew up in a farming community and we had a small family farm just to provide for us. Farmers love their caps! Giving a farmer a new ball cap goes a long way and seals a friendship. Specially the ones with industry logos on them.

Dad and I trimmed dairy cattle here in Maine and NH. as well. Mostly loose housing with a few older farms who used stantions. He built two tandem axle tip tables on trailors. Worked very well, just belts under the belly chain hooked to a cross shaft crank above. Stand her up on her tiptoes and sweep her off her feet. Puts the feet right at working level. that wood carver disc for the feet is aggressive and scary. Great video with lots of good info. Thank you.
The disc is specifically designed for hoof trimming. Graeme's one is aggressive though but he does have a lot of experience with it. Tom has a much less aggressive one.

What an absolutely cool dude, I learnt so much in that video, Tom, not done much cattle foot trimming, probably because I didn't know what I was doing, or how to correct a problem. The grinder makes life a lot easier. We only had knives and a rasp and we could never get them as sharp as the professional guy👍

Massive thanks for that video Tom! (And Graeme of course) That was hugely educational for me! Given me some food for thought and something I may actually trial on my farm, the plastic blocks are an incredible idea! I've found in the past where I may have had to stick a block on a cow 2-3 times just to give the affected part enough time to recover, I've ended up with issues on the good part of the hoof due to obviously the repetitively putting on new blocks! Thanks again, very helpful 😁

That was hugely educational for me! Given me some food for thought and something I may actually trial on my farm, the plastic blocks are an incredible idea! I've found in the past where I may have had to stick a block on a cow 2-3 times just to give the affected part enough time to recover, I've ended up with issues on the good part of the hoof due to obviously the repetitively putting on new blocks!
