    Today I have the second video in the Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers Series. This time I'm going some stamping with the markers. The stamp set I chose to try this technique out with is Brushed Florals from Mama Elephant.
    At first, the marker pigment beaded up on the surface of the stamps. But with a bit of prep work (watch the video for instructions), I was back in business and stamping the flower stamps with the Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers. I used the following Zig colors for the stamping and watercoloring: Carmine Red, Pink, Wine Red, Light Green, Deep Green, Yellow, Bright Yellow, Violet, Purple, and Black. All colors are included in the 48 pack of markers (link below)
    I love how soft and ethereal the flowers look. And yet, the bright colors against the black accents is so striking.
    I hope you enjoy today's video! I'll be back on Friday for the third and final installment of the miniseries. :)

    I love my floral stamps! Sometimes I think I make way too many floral cards but the inspiration I get by watching your videos keeps me moving forward. Bristol paper + Zig markers are definitely the key!

    Great video Kristina. Really enjoyed all the tips - I especially liked the idea of priming the stamps. I think to many times we all want our sets to look pristine. A well inked stamp is a loved stamp : ) I also like Jennifer's tip of inking the stamp with embossing ink, then wiping it off a little bit.

    Love the card; and ESPECIALLY love when you show how you fix your mistakes! It is so comforting and helpful. Also, thank you so much for reminding me about Tim's tip with Archival ink. I've been using a white plastic eraser to prep my photopolymer stamps to avoid staining, but it doesn't always work as well as the Archival ink.

    You can also "prep" your acrylic stamps by running a very fine file over them gently. It "roughs up" the surface a bit which helps it hold the ink. Reminder: DO IT GENTLY. No harsh filing or you will end up with imperfections in your stamps.

  • @elizabethclothier3267

    Beautiful card and great Tim trick! TYFS.
    I learned another acrylic stamp trick from Lindsay (thefrugalcrafter), you can take any pink or gentle eraser and rub it over the stamps as well. I found this to work amazingly. But I'm still going to try the technique you shared here as well :-)

    Cheap Emory board, nail file across tops works instantly so solid stamps print more solid. Sorry if someone mentioned, I didn't read 80+ comments. Beautiful card!!

  • @shumber68

    Hi Kristina. I have used Versamark to prime my stamps. it works well for me as I don't have the onyx black ink.

    • @RichBoden
      @RichBoden 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Glycerine is an even cheaper option. Versamark basically is just glycerine plus additives tbf.

    Must it be archival ink or can you prime with any black ink? Lovely card today btw, I might get those beautiful flower stamps in the future.

    • @kwernerdesign
      @kwernerdesign  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      I believe it should be archival ink. That particular ink "sticks" to stamps more than others and I think that's what the surface of the stamp needs. With that being said, I've noticed that stamps that have been used (with any type of ink) work better over time. So personally, I think I'll only use the Archival ink stamp priming method when I have issues with brand spankin' new stamps that I want to use immediately.

    • @RichBoden
      @RichBoden 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can use glycerine or VersaMark and they do exactly the same job.

  • @amysedam2767

    Glycerine works equally well (and is cheaper than Archival), as does an emery board.

  • @turtluv2000
    @turtluv2000 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    Does the priming with the black ink work better than taking an eraser to the surface of the stamp?

    • @susanp9097

      Sherri Piechnik the eraser works as well as a nail file, non metal, and gently rub off the top of the stamp...per the frugal crafter on TH-cam

    Kristina, this might be the dumbest question ever asked, but here it goes. How do you line up your tape so evenly on your watercolor paper? The tape is bordering the paper perfectly every time. Mine is always wonky thus distorting my actual work space. When you're done giggling, throw me your secret.

    • @kwernerdesign
      @kwernerdesign  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      You mean when I tape the paper to the board? I mostly just eyeball it. :)
