You do a fantastic job of explaining in simple terms, things that could otherwise be complicated. You don't talk down to anyone while you are doing it, and you brilliantly include everyone in the process. And you convey your enthusiasm for the whole shootin' match. Its the sign of a good teacher.
I don't think I can name another channel where the authors seem so at home in their surroundings, and this is one of the things that make it so relaxing to watch.
Really enjoyed this video. When you all show all the real life repairs and maintenance it takes to full time on a boat it really gives a more accurate representation of life at sea. Keep up the great work.
One of the many things I enjoy about your videos is that you explain things: snakes, wear shoes; starfish, waiting for the tide; squid, reason for colors. I always enjoy the beach cooking. Thanks!!
It's getting to the point that a 30 footer isd starting to look like a dinghy out there! Thanks MM for making it possible to bring these videos to a great audience of people, much appreciated.
THANK YOU for telling me where to look in regard of your Solar installation. The showing of your Windgen was superb too. Everything you do, looks so simple and easy. I would myself not even trust to take the Wind-Gen down and take it appart. I love it especially, when you 2 go and search for äh, I forgott the name in english, the Things that grow on the Piers you ripp of and then cook them. I mean YOU TO REALLY RELY on finding things to eat out there. I congratulate you 2, as it prooves, the times for your skills, has come to be more and more so important those days. THANK YOU again.
I trust the wind generator repair worked...left me wanting to hear the quieter oscillation. I enjoy the manner in which you explain your actions and things to do to avoid damage, loss of parts etc... Starfish littered beach was unbelievable. 👣
Troys face rebuilding the wind gen so serious :) #bombdisposal, and as for smokey food i will use that on the mrs next time she cooks if i ever let her make a burnt offering to the gods again. Awesome as always guys stay safe, and i ebayed circlip pliers cheers!
Your heavy stone with the high iron content could possibly be a meteorite, or a fragment of one... Hope you kept it!!! Enjoy your videos so very much... Would like to sell my home, rid myself of many of my ‘prized’ possessions, and take up ownership of a sailboat... At age 72, however, it might take more of a go than I could muster... But, as they say; “You can take a sailor from the sea, but you can’t take the sea from the sailor!” Have to put an open ocean excursion on my bucket list before it’s too late!!!
Another great video guys from your other 72 year old US Coast Guardsman and would be sailor! Do you have any idea why you are attracting all these OLD guys?
The nice thing about sailing is you can choose what scale adventure you have. I love mucking about in little boats in out of the way places just as much as anything.
Awesome show as always !! Troy, if you get a chance to do some web shopping... Do a search for, mono-coat or mono-kote ! It's the covering used for RC model planes. It comes in a roll like cling-wrap. It's a really tough single sided self adhesive and heat shrinkable plastic sheeting ! It's great for quick repairs on areas with voids and on irregular shaped items. And would probably quiet the props your wind generator even more, after first doing a little sanding/smoothing !! Just make sure whatever brand you get has water-proof adhesive, most are ! It's slicker than paint and comes in a multitude of colors too ! Blue sky, breeze and lots of fun to you and Pascale !
You know you were raised right when your narration skills are good enough to make engine mounts and generator bearings interesting. Thanks for including a bit about the solar rigging, that answers one of a hundred boat questions. Google and I have had several meetings about the wind vane: neither of us really understand it yet ....
Repair lessons, beautiful star fish i have never seen that color, sharks, turtles my favorite, happy smiles and a picnic on the beach. What a great episode. Thankyou
I am watching your videos and anjoing ,thank you guys! BTW I dont speak english very well but still waching )))wish you good luck from Russia st.Petetsburg
That's so much content packed into your videos. I love it. I was impressed that you still have the wingnuts on your solar panels, they seem like the sort of thing that will end up over the side really easily. I noticed Troy keeping a finger on the circlip - that'll be the 'experiment near a supply shop' part I reckon :) Ideally wear eye protection and work inside... circlips are notorious for their ability to exit enclosures at high speed and always in the most annoying possible direction. I'm sure AvE has covered this in his inimitable way.
Good point about the eye protection. When we're fishing at dusk we often take off our sunglasses and I insist on putting them back on when a fish is coming back to the boat. A hook in the eye is so easy to do and would be unimaginably horrible on a small boat in the wilds of Oz. I bet a circlip would be pretty unforgiving too.
I like the arrangement for the solar panels and wind generator. Its functional, and serves other purposes like shade while on watch. Great videos, thanks for posting. Those oysters looked great by the way.
Ahhhh...you made me hungry with those oysters! HA! Good job on the wind genny. Like you said Troy...no big deal and an easy fix if you just take your time and use a little common sense. WAIT! Common sense...what's that?! HA HA! PEACE OUT! Ü
Make sure to face the square edge of the circlip outward also, I've seen them pop out if you have the rounded edge facing away from the direction of force
Serclip pliers ,should have keep looking found 12 pares of vicegrips wire cutting so many other pliers,,more importantly ouster opener, enjoyed the video thanks have fun.
Nice video Troy little advice on the bearings . In your case with the gen as the bearings really didn't need pressing . If you do a run into a situation, heating the receiver of the bearing either in an oven or gentle flame on the housing Then freezing the bearing you will never require taping/hitting or pressing the bearing in . As I do this on a regular bases I find that you must always and I mean always repack these new bearing, as most do not get packed properly at the factory. Highly recommended on the repack. Cheers and fair winds 👌👍
I have had to chill or heat bearings in the past for interference fit in transmissions etc but repacking bearings is new to me. What have you found to be there problem? I'm interested in this.
Those Air-X's are great for servicing. Feel your blades for tiny high speed pits near the leading edge. I found that a light sanding with some 120 grit Improves sound performance. Great video , Keep them coming. Cheers !
The sanding wasn't as effective as we had hoped. it did work but only a minor improvement. In future episode we get a hold of some Silent Wind blades and they have made a huge difference. But at some cost!
Great videos. I enjoy the level of detail you go to in explaining. I enjoy sail trim and sea conditions. I also pay attention to the food prep, such a pain in the rear.
You never want to oil the outer surface of a bearing. It might make it easier to install, but will let it slip easier. This will lead to faster wear on the housing.
Hi Troy and Pascal Bing watching your Vlogs from the beginning one question I have is how did Troy get his Knowledge of Bush Tucker and the Survival points he seems to be aware of I have watch a number of your vlogs in the past and always found them good. But now after my journey from No1 to 46 It is very very inspirational and at times gripping adventure keep it up and I should be caught up to date by the end of August 2021 Craig UK
I really think that you could take that iron rock and some quartz and make a radio. haha.. ..... I read somewhere that having more blades (ie, 5 or 7) would balance , spin on lower speeds, and be more quiet. Years ago, seemed all you could get was 3 bladed props. Now I starting to see multi blades on rooftops. Then it might just be the brands, too? Enjoyed the video! a highlight of the week! Cheers!
Personally I think the solar panel set up is not just functional, it's good looking and not a Macgyvered / Mad Max like. :) Also I had to laugh. Everywhere else if snakes were an issue it would be boots with snap on gaiters. For Aussies it's just putting on a pair of deck shoes. :)
When they come from the factory and still have a circuit board monitoring the output of the phases, that connection order is required. My Frankenstein monster is fine as you say.
You do a fantastic job of explaining in simple terms, things that could otherwise be complicated. You don't talk down to anyone while you are doing it, and you brilliantly include everyone in the process. And you convey your enthusiasm for the whole shootin' match. Its the sign of a good teacher.
A sign of the respect we have for our audience!
That goes without saying mate !!
How cute is Pascale's commentary? 'One last visitor came to say goodnight'
By far one of the more intelligent sailing programs - thank you very much.
One of the many things I enjoy about your videos is that you explain things: snakes, wear shoes; starfish, waiting for the tide; squid, reason for colors. I always enjoy the beach cooking. Thanks!!
love the close ups of the squid changing color memorable
Ya! That was incredible!
I believe the two of you could sail a dingy around the world and somehow survive. Excellent tutorial on bearing replacement.
It's getting to the point that a 30 footer isd starting to look like a dinghy out there! Thanks MM for making it possible to bring these videos to a great audience of people, much appreciated.
I am willing to be Troy read Kontiki when he was a kid!!!! Dinghy heck....T+P could lash logs together and make it across the pacific!
Really like your childproof instructions when you are working on anything
Wonderful informational episode. Love you guys and the way you avoid getting overly excited when things must be done or when unexpected things happen.
I love tagging along with you on your adventures! Thank you for having real content, I feel I learn something on every video.
Music to our ears
A learned & mechanical skipper is Troy. All videos are entertaining & informative. I can't get enough of Pascale's beautiful smile. Happy sailing.
Troy you are so practical and use so much common sense that i have learned so much from you which i use in my boat. thank you for sharing
Awesome! Happy to help.

Another Tech Talk with Troy .!!! Thanks Guys
I trust the wind generator repair worked...left me wanting to hear the quieter oscillation. I enjoy the manner in which you explain your actions and things to do to avoid damage, loss of parts etc... Starfish littered beach was unbelievable. 👣
I don’t know what to comment to explain the enjoyment your videos bring 🤔👍
You just did. Thanks NICCAT
BTW; are your T shirts designs finished yet?
Getting there.
Pleasure to watch such great seamanship and display of knowledge
Troy! Master of Field Expedient Repairs!
I want to see your daily living on this boat and your on shore adventures .
I always learn so much when I watch your videos, thank you!
Troys face rebuilding the wind gen so serious :) #bombdisposal, and as for smokey food i will use that on the mrs next time she cooks if i ever let her make a burnt offering to the gods again.
Awesome as always guys stay safe, and i ebayed circlip pliers cheers!
Thats us- always serious. I hope you find lasting happiness with your new pliers.

Ronald Miller They aren’t far north of Iron Range national park so I think it’s a fair bet that all the rocks there have a high iron content.
Another great video guys from your other 72 year old US Coast Guardsman and would be sailor! Do you have any idea why you are attracting all these OLD guys?
Meteorite or MeteorWRONG? - TH-cam th-cam.com/video/ClW3EB8Ptuw/w-d-xo.html
Maybe we're sailing like it was done in the 70's?
The nice thing about sailing is you can choose what scale adventure you have. I love mucking about in little boats in out of the way places just as much as anything.

I don't even own a boat but I enjoyed the lessons. Thanks
Another well done, informative video that shows a genuine love of what you're doing. Great stuff. Still No.1 channel in my book.
You know you were raised right when your narration skills are good enough to make engine mounts and generator bearings interesting. Thanks for including a bit about the solar rigging, that answers one of a hundred boat questions. Hmmm, perhaps a chat about servo-pendulum windvanes may be in order...
❤️ From India.
👍
Repair lessons, beautiful star fish i have never seen that color, sharks, turtles my favorite, happy smiles and a picnic on the beach. What a great episode. Thankyou
Every time I think 'eh dont know about this episode' you totally surprise me with something new to learn. Thanks for the amazing videos!

uncommon sense?
Great video!!
Is Troy the smartest all around guy or what?
Sure seems so, plus knows how to relate to us rookies....selection of his sailing mate way above par, smart guy......a bit of a camera hog....ha
What did I say, Pascale is the best, not just way above par. Come on Troy, forget the bearings...
Awesome info mate...jolly good ~
Love watching your vidio`s thank you fore the effert

I enjoy your journey and adventures very much, and learn a lot of biology, geology, etc. at the same time. Good luck and stay safe.

Enjoyed thanks again.

Major respect & cudo's at 9:42.... injecting the word 'recalcitrant' into a proper sentence. ....__/) __/)

Teaching and entertaining, another great vid.

Noted.
Really enjoyed the vid Plus imagining Pasqul runung naked on deck thanks for mental images ..Be safe live love laugh
william punte you don’t have to imagine. It happened one episode

You can also use the old bearing to seat the new, perfect size match.
Good tip.
Fantastic episode...So interesting!
Sweet
i got into the repair but never got hear the new bearings comparison ....good watching
We discuss it further in future episodes. Stay tuned
I don’t have a wind generator, but now I know how to repair one I feel I need to go get one. See what you guys do? 🤣

Agreed, any time you can have @ least 1 panel angled to the winter solstice (or summer, in their hemi?) is huge. The frame appears quite strong.
Better use nice quick servos Nigel- boats rock and roll a bit!
You can rest your bearings for one or two hours at the fridge , they ll get inside easily ;)
As always amazing that view when ya cooking to die for smoky oysters gourmet or wot nevana
Reason #300,067 why we enjoy ocean living.
Those starfish look like kid's playdoh!
Surely that wind generator should have a tapered bearing with a compression spring for longer life.
We don't design em, just try to live with em.
Love this place, looking for an excuse to go back😊
Hey Troy it doesn't matter in what order the three wires are connected on the wind generator as it is three phase AC that gets rectified to DC.
When they come from the factory and still have a circuit board monitoring the output of the phases, that connection order is required. My Frankenstein monster is fine as you say.
