    Reasons why we live Curiosity Inc. Alex can decide on a whim to step into his garage (in socks mind you!) and just go through old Lobby cards and talk about them and crack a few dad jokes. It is far more entertaining than any show on television - the element or just being a real guy and a real family shines through and makes everyone feel so connected - that’s why we all get so excited for a new episode - it’s like having your friends come over for a couple drinks and laughs. And the entire community is so respectful and engaged with each episode and live. Thanks for the great times Curiosity Inc!

    Oh, man... I was into it, the art is cool, and I'm a Tarzan fan, but then a Superman The Movie set! and suddenly I'm bereft that you have found a buyer for the whole lot... Waaahhh!
    A great find, and, hopefully, a great deal for you.
    Also, the star of the Eroticon film at the end was Lex Barker, who was Tarzan in one of the earlier cards you showed. Cool.

      Fully agree. I've never seen it, and I think that's because it is such a weird choice. It didn't good reviews either. Ned Kelly was first generation Australian, whose parents were born in Ireland. Ned, therefore, would have been strongly influenced by his parents accents in his manner of speech. To choose an English actor for the part was completely strange and wrong.

    Thanks for sharing these little forays into pop culture history. I had a friend who would randomly come across some really cool items in his job, cleaning out spaces to be renovated and whatnot, and he would bring it around for our group of friends to check out. We developed an appreciation for these things that gave color to our lives. Unfortunately, he is no longer with us. RIP, Dan.

    Ned Kelly is a hero here in Australia. Ned Kelly was an Australian bushranger, outlaw, gang leader and freedom fighter. One of the last bushrangers, and by far the most famous, he is best known for wearing a suit of bulletproof armour during his final shootout with the police.

    But I really want to let you know about "Tagua Nut Bird ashtrays" made in the 1920s/30s. First by Dunhill by the firm YZ. £5.00 to £20.00. But seen them for hundreds. Nice whimsical antiques that I think will increases in price. But like a lot of things, folk need to know about them so they do not go in the bin. Love your channel Alex, Cheers.

    I just can’t get over that such a rare collection (maybe 5 or 6 people in the world may have a collection like this from what I’ve read) and one of those people lives in Alberta Canada! This is a very Hollywood/Americana collection! But that opinion is coming from someone that isn’t a collector and just your average Canadian that’s been watching Alex’s channel for the past year or 2. I just find it amazing this collection showed up in Canada. Well, thinking about it, Alberta IS the most “wild Wild West” part of Canada ... 👍🇨🇦😊

  • @chazzyb8660
    @chazzyb8660 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Looks like you could set up a whole gallery business just using these posters, and giving you a decent living for some years.
    Many of these were among the most popular moves of their time, huge movies, huge stars. They need specialist handling, I am sure you'll find it.
    I used to live in a road that started in the west of London, and gradually moved towards the centre of town. You could watch pieces move along the road, from the junk and bric-a-brac stores in Putney, up through Fulham, into the posher Chelsea antique stores and on into the smarter galleries of Knightbridge and even onto Bond Street, each dealer making their cut until they found the right buyer.

  • @markpashia7067
    @markpashia7067 4 ปีที่แล้ว +39

    Wow, what a collection. Sadly Alex really does not know what he has in his hands. So many of those are major classics and the start of long carreers for the actors and actresses. Tons of those are cult classics or near cult anyway. The one who collected these had a real eye for value. Everyone saved "John Wayne" stuff back in the day, but a cult film like the trial of Billy Jack got thrown in the trash right after being taken down making these pristine rare cards worth more than hundreds of John Wayne ones. Western comedies like "The Ballad of Cable Hogue" with Stella Stevens were so common no one would think to save those at the time, but now they are likely rare as hens teeth. I am also amazed how Alex will buy these without asking the "organizing principles" and then proceed to scramble them for these videos. I saw famous directors like Howard Hawkes listed on some that might be whole bundles of his films or such. I must say that this collection both comics and movie memorabilia is nearly priceless in the right places and Alex really stumbled into something here. Done right this could fund a whole lot more than his building. If given the opportunity I could spend the rest of my life watching movies just from what I saw in this collection and would actually enjoy the majority of them. Wow, just wow.

      Why is it sad that he has limited knowledge on this stuff. He can't know everything. But he knows enough that he bought them. No one else did. Also... everyone can marvel over this collection but in the end the deciding factors are going to be how and what people are willing to buy and what they're willing to pay.

    WOW!!!! Saturday afternoon at the Capital theater!!! I would walk downtown with my buddy's Frank and Scott and spend our HARD EARNED quarters and dimes and see any one of those movies. We might share a bucket of popcorn for the outrageous price of .25!!!! For the matinee price of .10 (we were outraged when the price went to a quarter) , we got a news reel, a cartoon and the movie, that we thought about all while we mowed lawns, and did odd jobs during the week. I always made sure ALL of my chores were done before I went looking for change for a job well done, from the neighbors, and sometimes my Dad would slip me a quarter on the sly!!! Dad did NOT believe in paying an allowance for work on the farm that had to be done anyway, he got paid once a year for the crops and the whole house had a little change to spend!!!! I kinda felt rich with .50 in my pocket I did not have to earn!!!!! Well after the movie we would go to the 49er for a milk shake or a soda maybe fries to share (if somebody felt like splurging)!!!! Then talk about the movie in low excited tones for a while, then walk home in time for dinner!!!!
    The fifty's and sixty's were a wonderful time for a dirty faced kid under ten that never wore shoes in the summertime!!!! ;-)
    What a strangenasty world we live in today!!!!

    Drool ! - What a collection of movie items! -
    In my humble opinion,this collection sensibly sold to a collector or at a special auction, will pay for a very large chunk of the new building. Talking to a friend from London(UK),a former collector.- At the higher end on all prices, you could make the investment back 5 or even 10 fold,depending on condition. Please think very carefully about this collection, ideally it should be sold as a job lot, having taken decades to accumulate.
    Anyway,good luck.

    Ned Kelly was a bushranger (outlaw) in Australia in the late 1800's. there have been quite a few movies about him, including -The Story of the Kelly Gang (1906). At over an hour long, this 1906 Australian-made production is thought to be the world's first feature-length narrative movie.
    The Mick Jagger version (1970) is the worst one made.
