Jane tu ya jaane Na was such a cult favourite especially among the youth. It was way ahead of its time. I wish we had more such movies in bollywood and i also wished Genelia and Imran could continue doing such chill out films because Aditi and Jay were really loved and still are
Me too but there is something called kismat and maybe Jai would have never been happy with Megna. It is honestly better that they broke up rather them being in a one-sided relationship where both are not happy. This is the inevitable outcome
Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na was one of those rare Hindi films that are equally loved by the critics and the audience. It was way way ahead of its time. The acting, dialogues, the production and costume design, the subtexts, each character's personality everything was so natural and realistic and believable. And it was such a well-told story, from start to finish.
The subtext is mostttt important. Shalin and Amit were both such layered characters without making them obvious. Even the ending with Mr Godot. Easter eggs everywhere in the film. Not many people would get it.
Such a cute movie. That particular slapping scene had a different kind of impact n was a turning point in the movie. Firstly, it was shocking to see him slapping his fiancee n secondly Aditi realising the kind of mascular guy she always wanted slapped her n that it was actually the sweet Jay who always cared for her. And Third, Jay opting for violence for the very first time for the sake of Aditi
She knew he liked Aditi and kept quiet until Jai himself told her. So I don't see the point as to why Meghna should slap Jai. If she did, it would be as wrong as Sushanth slapping Aditi
Actually JTYJN followed the typical narrative where the bf is nice but the person the parents choose is mean and idiot. But at least the movie showed it in a beautiful way
Hope u must have seen this movie. It was not about nice bf vs mean person chosen by parents. Its about two best friends who somehow bound to be fell in love when they tried to get saparated and Ayaz and one other girl chose by Imran and Genelia to each other in that saparation attempt. Meanwhile love paved its way in between them and during this Ayaz slapped Genelia. An light hearted movie actually.
@@risingstar9090 yes the parents in the movie are super nice and supportive.. They themselves wanted her to marry jai initially but both jai aditi were convinced they dont like each other. Plus sushant was aditi's choice and the parents never objected when she changed her decision. The movie was hence super soft and non toxic but dealt with relatable problems around love and friendship.
And he didnt even hit or touch her in that slap scene. In some movie to keep more realistic they actual slap or hit lightly. In Squid game the main character got slapped so hard his jaw got injured. Poor guy is being targeted for doing no wrong
I watched this movie with friends when I was in my teens. I distinctly recall few seconds after the scene where he slaps Aditi. The entire theatre gasped collectively like no one had imagined he would actually slap her. One guy sitting in my row whispered 'Shit'. A kid sitting with his parents a few rows ahead turned to his Father and asked in a loud horrified voice "Usne usse maara kyaa ? Usne usse kyu maara ?" ("Did he hit her ? Why did he hit her ?"). The background song came when Aditi stands holding her cheek and the moment passed where all of us were united in our Shock. Such were the days when we didn't know the terms like "Red Flag" and "Toxic Masculinity" but recognised one when we saw one.
“Shocked that people remember the movie”? That movie was soooo mentally scarring that I’ve been trying hard to forget it. I feel like they should pay everyone who watched it for therapy.
Why? Because the story, the jokes and the acting all make you facepalm a lot. It was a great movie to watch when you were young. Try watching now and you’ll just be facepalming a lot 🤷🏼♂️
