    Hopefully they have something special for 2023- thirty years of S4C. And over on Channel 4, thirty years of Channel 4.
    Anyways, these idents are really something special. I can see why they kept them for so long. The icon of the Welsh Dragon lends itself better to creativity than Channel 4's blocks, and the result is not only consistent but we'll themed. The jingle is very catchy- just like Channel 4's famous Fourscore, but they went as far as to actually time the jingle with the visuals, which helps really make whatever is imitating the dragon seem just that much more exciting or energetic. It's certainly a more creative ident pack for sure, and I wish more people knew of this set. It just has so much more energy than the iconic Channel 4 idents from the same period, and I hope one day we can get more clean high quality copies uploaded.
    Yet another amazing work of the late Lambie-Nairn.
    Mind you though, I'm an American so my opinion probably doesn't matter lmao

    I can’t believe that it took that long to find some welsh

    I think that the jingle used in these idents is S4C. Now how could that be? That’s only 3 syllables? It’s the welsh pronunciation, S pedwar ek.

    What's your favorite S4C dragon ident featured here? Also do you remember seeing any of the lost idents featured in the end of this video?

    Welsh sounds like a combination of English and some other foreign languages

    • @sophie_drachen
      @sophie_drachen หลายเดือนก่อน

      The closest languages to Welsh would be Cornish and Breton as they all share the same root. They all are Celtic languages, but Brythonic Celtic languages, whereas Manx, Irish (Gaeilge) and Scottish Gaelic (Gàidhig) are all Goidelic Celtic languages.
      We also take words from Latin such as "ffenestr" and that comes from the Latin word "fenestra" meaning window and "lladron" being similar to the Spanish word for thief -- "ladron" which in turn came from the Latin word "latrōn".

    9:53 What's with that ITV style ident? And what does MAWR mean in the Welsh language?
    Because as per the info on the internet, ITV has no service or station in the Welsh language. Teledu Cymru and HTV Cymru Wales have long exited after the reorganisation of ITV.

      I know it's about a month too late but "Mawr" means "big" so the whole thing would translate as "Big One".
