Thank you for such clear, practical reflections to guide preparation and practice. And the ‘You don’t have to get all Glenn Gould’ brought a wry smile 😊

I dont know of you'll see my comment but what is the best excersise or techniques to putting both hands together? Especially with Bach and his tricky counterpoint. If any advise any at all I would appreciate ^^

Hi Sophie! Thanks for your message - that is a GREAT question, and one that needs re-visiting all the time. One thing you can do is reduce the amount of notes in one hand when you put them together and then gradually add more. Also, less is truly more in this case. Try a half or even a quarter of a measure slowly and do what I call 'grooving' practice where you keep practicing just that little chunk 5-7 times. Consistency is key - I suggest also coming back to a certain passage 2-3 times a day rather than one big practice session. Something in our minds that helps us that way. One measure might not seem like a lot on the surface with Bach, but even one measure every 2 days can be a good approach! I hope that's helpful :-)

Do you ever transpose Bach to different keys?? To me it's always been the easiest way to memorize Bach because it literally forces you to analyze the inner workings and logic of the piece. But perhaps your method is quicker or more effective. 🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔

Great question! I transpose the chorales sometimes, but for the keyboard works not usually - thanks for your comment I will certainly keep that in mind! 🙂
