I really like downtown Glendale. I haven't been there since before the pandemic.. but the Americana at the brand is one of my favorite outdoor mall areas.

I was just there in Glendale for several days. The 85 degrees Bakery Cafe was awesome. The Caramel Sea Salt coffee was very good for all of you coffee lovers.

OMG!! How did you know I love Glendale, Los Angeles? I took myself and my daughter there last year for my birthday. Loved it! Although I rented a car, I just kept it parked at the hotel because we walked everywhere; Brand at Americana outdoor mall, Target, restaurants, Inn and Out Burger, salon and even walked to church! Thank you so much for this video. Nobody, drives a city like you do. CAB😊

I live in Glendale. Its a great place. You're seeing mostly the downtown here. Which is getting a bit of a Beverly Hills vibe. If you go East of the 134 there are some of the best parks in LA for kids. Kenneth Village, Nibley Park, Scholl Canyon Park which has a baseball field in the sky and a beautiful golf course and driving range at the top of a hill. Super clean, a little hidden, almost feels like San Diego sleepy. If you go close to where the 134 meets the 2, near Eagle Rock, you can find hipster spots. If you take Chevy Chase east you can bike ride the quiet hills to the Rose Bowl or go up all the way up to Mt Waterman ski mountain. If you want good sushi try Buko or Zono. Tons of great kabab. Very safe-- great police. Just dont speed here. Enjoy!

I lived in Glendale from 1993 to 2005. It was so peaceful and quiet then. I remember the streets were empty at 9pm. Now it's so crowded and busy. My first job was at the Blockbuster Video on Glendale Blvd and the first home my mom bought was on Wilson Ave and Adams. I miss going to Zankou Chicken and going to Portos when Portos was just a hole in the wall. We also loved going to Legacy or Shooting Star to buy comic books.
I also miss hanging out with my friends in Hoover High and driving up to Scholl Canyon and Brand Park. Let's meet up at the clock in the Glendale Galleria or at the front of Brand Library was what we would say if we wanted to organize a hang out with friends. Anyone that was a teenager in the 90s and lived in Glendale would know what I am talking about.
What a great time I had in that city.

I lived in Glendale from 1945 to 1965. It was a far different place. Take for instance the police department. I and many other children I knew had numerous encounters with the police. Just a few personal examples:
I can remember as a young boy waiting for a bus on the corner of Maple Street and Glendale Avenue. I was going swimming at the public pool. A police car with a sergeant driving stopped and inquired where I was going. I told him; he said “jump in I am going that way; I'll take you.”
I can remember as a young want-to-be Boy Scout on the day of my examination for tying knots, which I was not very good at, a police officer, a lieutenant, came calling early that morning. My mother was most concerned about seeing a fully armed, six foot policeman at the door asking to see her son. He explained to my mother that he was there to teach me how to tie knots so I would pass the Boy Scout exam.
I can remember as a high school student seeing a police car waiting in front of the school at 3:15pm, the end of the school day. Each day it appeared that the officer was apprehending the same female student. I later found out that her mother was bedridden and concerned when her daughter did not immediately return home from school. The police were merely taking her home so her mother wouldn't worry. I later learned that her father was given the job of night watchmen and caretaker of the abandoned Brand Mansion. The job required that he and his family live on the estate grounds. I assume this was done so his wife wouldn't be alone.
I can remember other encounters like the day my bicycle broke down, but I think you get the idea: It was a better place, a safer place, and a happier place.
