This new collection for the Lent season contains 10 pieces which are perfectly suited for use as a Prelude/ Postlude or interlude in a church service or as (short) concert pieces! All pieces are very fast to learn and accessible for organ beginners as well as professional organ players!

Die Karwoche mit dem alten immer neuen Hymnus "Caput cruentum".
Precious and spiritual theme brings me beautiful memories of youth, which I sang in Spanish in the choir of the main church of my city under the title "Oh Lacerated Face" (J.S. Banch). especially in Lenten time. A virtual hug Paul for such a beautiful creation. 🙏💓🙏

Thank you for giving the text this powerful expression of contrast between the gentle and subtle with the strong and powerful; I especially appreciate the stanza with reeds and an almost full organ with the gentle flus and tender solo stops. It reminds me of the complexity hidden in both the music and the text of so many German chorales. I remember hearing the Chorale “Deck thyself with joy and sadness” sung at a fast paste with power and gusto rather than just the quiet gentle reflective tone we hear most often in the states. Singing the chorale with almost gusto, made the words joy and gladness burst into flame. I would love to hear you do a variation on Deck thyself (Schmucke Dich) that is strident and bold rather than the way so many approach the hymn with such somberness and without a strident tempo.

This is such a stunning arrangement and video recording, Paul! It is my favorite of all of your recordings. You have masterfully captured the full emotion of the hymn lyric in the organ registration. The third verse on the full organ is so powerful. The German and English translations are a little different. The German lyric most closely matches the 2nd verse in many English hymnals:
What thou, my Lord, hast suffered
was all for sinners’ gain.
Mine, mine was the transgression,
but thine the deadly pain.
Lo, here I fall, my Savior!
’Tis I deserve thy place.
Look on me with thy favor,
and grant to me thy grace.
Those words juxtaposed with that full registration is absolutely breathtaking. It's just so powerful, words cannot adequately describe the depth of my emotion listening to you play. I can't thank you enough for this incredible arrangement.

That is a really wonderful set of variations. It conjures up all the emotions associated with Calvary: sorrow, anger and final peace. Your arrangements of that most noble chorale are sublime.

Such an inspirational set of variations on this most famous hymn for Lent. The bold and strong variation continues to grow in intensity and then the final sections are total serenity. A great arrangement of this piece that will be used for years to come. Thank you, Paul for sharing your talents with us. I disagree about "Total serenity" at the end. the last chords seem to flicker like candles. Like memories during Lent of the savior, gratitude for salvation, which is overshadowed by regret and sorrow for the crucifixion.
Oh, this ending oscillates between major and minor, and freezes in silent mourning. How beautiful

Wonderfull surprise this new rendition of this set of Variations in comparison with the first (2 years ago, already!!) that we find in the Lent Collection.
Really a superb rendition, very emotional with a lot of feeling played on a new sampleset of a beautifull organ and a magnificent registration.
By the way, what is the sampleset you used and what is this modern organ ?
Perhaps, could you complete the description in your introduction ?
