“Decorate!”, they said. “It will be fun!”, they said. One head injury and two Aleve later, you have a fantastic piece of art. Your planter is gorgeous and the lights are amazing. Well done, you!
O M G ~ Not funny that you dinged your head, but so funny that you shared your not so perfect attempt at decorating. Feels like our house, as this is usually how my bright ideas go! Keep being awesome! Love your videos, just wish there were more of them!
You had me laughing all the way through! Thank you for letting the rest of us know we aren’t the only ones who have bloopers. It is absolutely 😍 stunning 😍!
The tip for cutting the cable tie bag in the middle? Thank you. I have dumped out the whole bag countless times. Your display is beautiful- worth the near-death experience.
Seriously, so happy you weren't injured but watching this caused my morning coffee to spray through my nose!! You are so funny..the one liners and dry delivery are hilarious. The planter is gorgeous and you ultimately achieved your goal. Thank you for sharing❤🎅
The final result is stunning. Who said gardening is easy?! A+ for determination! Hopefully the injuries sustained are not long lasting!!! Beautiful job as always!
Oh I simply love your comedic way of gardening. I was laughing out loud on the couch watching this and the giant hoop. Glad you didn't get injured and it looks wonderful!! You are a hoot lady!
Thanks for keeping it real! You are one persistent lady and boy did it pay off beautifully. We can all relate to projects that have taken turns like that. I love this beautiful unexpected sculptural combination you've designed, beautiful for the whole winter. Thank you for the inspiration, you've earned your wine time today!
The best blooper reels in gardening! I love it, Erin, so genuine and endearing and what we need to see more of in gardening videos! Your final arrangement is very original and beautiful to boot. Yep, that's another impressive Erin container arrangement!
Absolutely beautiful!😍😍😍 Would have loved more pictures on the finished lit pot! Only 2 seconds of the 20 minutes, pain staking process !! Poor girl , that was a beast but thanks for figuring out the hoop for us 💪
Loved the bloopers 😂 What’s really cool is that your container is so different from anything I’ve seen- a totally new way to design a holiday display with familiar items- fantastic!
I laughed so hard at Attempts 1 & 2 that I almost did a 'spit take' with my morning tea. Thank you so much for giving us such interesting (and amusing) videos,
Thanks for keeping the video real! Actually it reminded me - of me! I love your videos, and your wine chats increase my fondness (and I’m sure most of your viewers) for you. Merry Christmas from a northern South Dakota girl, now living in Nebraska (zone 5):
I frequently use two sayings that seem appropriate to this video as well. "Give it a go, how hard can it be?" and " it seemed like a good idea at the time". Seriously, loved your perseverance and the result. Thank you for sharing your process, warts and all. Hope your head is fine!
Thank you, thank you, thank you. I needed to get out of the disaster in my head and your shared misfortune had me laughing until I cried which unexpectedly cleared out all of my pent up exhaustion, frustration and sadness. God works in mysterious ways. So glad you weren’t permanently injured, I always appreciate your normalcy and willingness to share. You saved my weekend. Take good care of yourself.
This is my absolute favorite video. It shows that you try, try, and try again to make your "lighted ring winter container." I love the "steps 1, 2, 3, especially the "bleeped" part because I can identify with your frustration in trying to get your garden the way you want it.
I didn't know that gardening could be so much fun. I am sorry but I let out a scream of laughter when the big steel hoop tipped you over. So glad you didn't get hurt. Wow, what an amazing show piece. Lovely addition to your entry way. Thank you for the great ideas. Best, Jill
Oh girl - you win the internet today - that was awesome! It came out looking so cool and now I'm going to try my hand at it. Minus the head injury, but hopefully with the same sense of humor.
this project will forever be known as the killer holiday urn, I can't believe it got you in the head and then took you out at the knees! thanks for showing the reality of trying to do creative installations, it's definitely not always picture perfect but the finished project looks beautiful. Here's hoping the next few projects are made of lighter stuff!
Oh Erin, I was laughing watching you struggle with your project until I saw the ring hit your head! I think we must be related! This is so me. I will wrestle with things and have to start again. Thank goodness no one is taping me! My husband has had to take me to the emergency room for stitches on my head for attempting something on my own. I have learned that I am not as strong as I once was, nor have I always been the most coordinated. But, darn it, I want to get stuff done, and I don’t want to ask for help or wait. Your completed planter is lovely. It is helpful to know that you also recycle past projects and just beef them up. Great tips here. Wish I hadn’t let our wagon wheel rings go. I’ll enjoy yours. And, please please please take care of yourself. I want to enjoy more of your humor, tips, projects, and beautiful smile.
Love this video hope your ok.... I have an old fire wood hoop I use in the garden, if your going to use hula-hoops I would wire two or three together for extra strength and stability maybe even wrap then with strips of chicken wire or rope for texture before you spray paint them.
OMGosh!! THIS is why I LOVE You Tube! ~ REALITY ~ ❗ Thank You for THE BEST video this Holiday Season!!! Your vision, and stamina have prevailed - and in the words of Billy Crystal: ♡ "It looks Marvelous!" ♡
The anticipation of this video from your IG stories😂😂😂. This is the most amazing simple curls, ring of fire, and tutu I have ever seen! I am going foraging this afternoon and will giggle every time I think of how hard you worked! Laughter is the best gift!
🎄I’m sorry I couldn’t control my laughter-but you are amazing! It made me wonder how many times my neighbors were watching my attempts at holiday structures! Thank you so much for making yet another day for me so much more enjoyable! ❤️🎁👏🏻🤶🏻
Hi Erin! I'm so sorry that you got hurt, but glad it wasn't too bad. I thought on your first attempt that you would need help. I'm glad you got your husband to help you. Your persistence paid off and it turned out absolutely beautiful! I love all of the layers you did and the lights you used. Thank you for showing the good, the bad and the ugly. Not everything goes perfectly on the first attempt.
I absolutely love how you keep gardening Real and show everyone how projects really go!!! 😆 Even thought you this container tried to kill you , I absolutely love how this “Simple “ 🤦🏼♀️😆 container project turn out... it’s absolutely beautiful ❤️❤️!!!!
Thank you for the a) gorgeous outdoor planter design idea and b) the coffee spewing out of my nose as I watched you almost be decapitated on video by a metal tire wheel but then laughing as you probably said several choice cuss words realizing how close you came to really getting hurt! I love watching your videos! And glad you were not seriously maimed or killed during the filming of this video presentation! 🌲🥴😁🥶☠️
Well Erin you never let us down. The end result is stunning. I do hope you are OK, attempt number 2 looked like it made contact! After watching that I think I will leave the wagon wheels and stick to the hula hoops 😅
I’m so sorry that I was screaming with laughter at the second attempt. My husband had to see what was so funny. I’m happy you didn’t get hurt. It turned out so amazing!! I love how down to earth you are!! Keep the videos coming! Merry Christmas!🎄😊
OMG! I’m so happy you didn’t get hurt ........but girl!!......I was dying 😂😂 at this. Love love love your channel. So helpful, relatable and real. We garden in the same zone, so really have enjoyed what you put out there♥️
Oh gosh I was worried you hurt yourself! The end product is absolutely beautiful!❤ I adore it! What a gorgeous space! Well done Impatient! Well done!❤ So in the spirit NOW!
Ok. This is the best video EVER! Thank you so much for representing how most of my gardening and design projects get enacted. Some I continue and some I abandon. You are an inspiration because your projects turn out beautifully no matter the process. Love this.
Love it! Thank you for including the difficulties. I do hope you didn't get injured! I think it's great how you recycle things from year to year. That hoop is just beautiful. You made me laugh when you said that you could be finished but you weren't going to stop just yet 😂. Great video!
It turned out BEAUTIFUL and STUNNING! Thank you for persevering through your project and keeping it real! Ok sorry, I did laugh... a couple of times. I’m glad Mr. Much More Patience came to help you.
This is how most of my projects go. Glad you shared it with us. It’s comforting to know a gardener of your caliber also struggles to make a vision in your head come to fruition.
Oh my god Erin I almost peed myself laughing!! That’s me in the garden doing everything myself all the time! Best unplanned comedy! Thank you for not editing the most relatable stuff out! 🙋🏻♀️🤷🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️🤣👏👏
Priceless video! I'm laying here sick as a dog & laughing my @ off! Thanks for all the outtakes. Oh yeah I love the finished product. Hope you didn't get hurt in the process!
omg love it, we have a steep slope I built a planter at the bottom at street level and was just telling hubby we needed to build an arch with lights down there, and then I wake to see this, this morning! love it
I'm not making fun of you but I'm sooooo glad to see that even the best have "klutzy" moments...(so glad you're OK!!) I once had my neighbor laughing hysterically trying to saw a limb of a tree. I'm 5'0" tall and the limb was about 6-1/2 feet up... I really must have looked like such a dork jumping up and down trying to cut the limb!!!
Just a tip for more inexpensive foraging: in my area we have a local recycle center that lets us forage. My husband and I got enough pine, cypress and blue spruce branches to make a bunch of wreaths. Now I'll have to go back for more to attempt this beautiful ring display. LOL!
You made me laugh out loud and I can SO relate. Thanks for being real with us. And I'm also feeling grateful that I've never had a video recording of my many garden bloopers! loved the final look including the lighting of your winter planter.
Went in to check, and yay a new video from The Impatient Gardener! You have the BEST sense of humour-thank you for sharing the reality of trying new things and adjusting when you need to. Life ain’t perfect :)
“Decorate!”, they said. “It will be fun!”, they said. One head injury and two Aleve later, you have a fantastic piece of art. Your planter is gorgeous and the lights are amazing. Well done, you!
I love how you showed us your messes and successes. I wasn’t sure if it was worth it UNTIL I saw the lights on….it’s beautiful.
O M G ~ Not funny that you dinged your head, but so funny that you shared your not so perfect attempt at decorating. Feels like our house, as this is usually how my bright ideas go!
Keep being awesome!
Love your videos, just wish there were more of them!
Beware the garden ring of death. Brought to you by "The Impaled Gardener". Luv it
You had me laughing all the way through! Thank you for letting the rest of us know we aren’t the only ones who have bloopers. It is absolutely 😍 stunning 😍!
I really like how those round lights look like big white berries in the daylight. ❤️🎄❤️
The tip for cutting the cable tie bag in the middle? Thank you. I have dumped out the whole bag countless times. Your display is beautiful- worth the near-death experience.
It’s a game changer!
Seriously, so happy you weren't injured but watching this caused my morning coffee to spray through my nose!! You are so funny..the one liners and dry delivery are hilarious. The planter is gorgeous and you ultimately achieved your goal. Thank you for sharing❤🎅
"I kinda wanna keep it simple." 😂This whole video was so much fun...lots of laughs! Beautiful job, Erin.
Just before it came down I was just thinking ”girl, I would get some help with that one” glad that you are ok.
I hated to laugh at your struggles with the hoop but I can really relate. You take it all in stride and that's the reality of creative gardening.👍❤🙏🤪
The final result is stunning. Who said gardening is easy?! A+ for determination! Hopefully the injuries sustained are not long lasting!!! Beautiful job as always!
I had to stop at 4:46 an THANK YOU 🙏 such a simple yet brilliant idea! Just make a hole in the middle of the bag, how did I not think it before?
Oh Erin! You made my morning! My husband came into the office to see what I was laughing at. I’m glad you weren’t hurt ❤️😂
Me too! My hubby was like what are you watching! Lol!
"We'll see what happens." Yep, we saw. Thanks for sharing, bloopers and all! I love seeing real life that I can relate to.
“Plant tutu”. You always me smile.

This is the comic relief I needed this week 🤣😂. Everything turned out beautifully.
I laughed so hard at Attempts 1 & 2 that I almost did a 'spit take' with my morning tea. Thank you so much for giving us such interesting (and amusing) videos,
I can feel your pain on the hoop! It was like watching something I would have done! The planter came out beautiful!
This was so good!! I wish I could “like” it multiple times. The finished product is beautiful.
Thanks for keeping the video real! Actually it reminded me - of me! I love your videos, and your wine chats increase my fondness (and I’m sure most of your viewers) for you. Merry Christmas from a northern South Dakota girl, now living in Nebraska (zone 5):
Dang girl I felt that ring! I’m glad you made it out alive. The end result is stunning❣️
This came out gorgeous! The Magnolia leaves made all the difference! SO glad you didn't give yourself a concussion!!
I frequently use two sayings that seem appropriate to this video as well. "Give it a go, how hard can it be?" and " it seemed like a good idea at the time". Seriously, loved your perseverance and the result. Thank you for sharing your process, warts and all. Hope your head is fine!

You inspired me! I used hoops from decrepit whiskey barrel and the lights you suggested. My urns are gorgeous!

That is soooo me. Trying to figure the loop. I agree use the foam if you have it. You could spray those twigs red. It is beautiful. So enjoyed this.
I'm so glad you got help, I was worried you had really hurt your head. The container is beautiful. Thanks for the videos.
Beautiful. Your hard work has paid off. You can look back and say that you survived all that 2020 had to offer including the ring of Fire.
The lights at the base of the willow branches worked well! 🔥 👏 👏 🔥
