braindead loser you missed the point. A consistent yet big threatening weapon. Like Federer’s serve and forehand, or Nadal’s forehand. Nishikori has good groundstrokes, but are either of them able to make players carefully play around them.
@braindead loser naw serve definitely isn't a problem here... Murray, Nadal and Djokovic do not posses top 10 serves on the tour yet they've had so much more success than players with amazing serves (Raonic, Zverev, Anderson, Isner, etc). This has been the era of the returner unless you have enough firepower to hit through players like Del Potro or have enough guile to out maneuver them like Federer.. Technically speaking Kei doesn't lack anything, he just needs a good slam draw..
@braindead loser come on man, you ain't using facts...look at the ATP website, Nishikori has at least equal or better 1st serve %, 1st serve win %, 2nd serve win % and break points saved every year compared to Novak, Andy and Rafa.. If you look at all the defensive stats, break points won, 2nd serve return win %, deciding sets won, etc they all correlate to the top ranked players... Federer is the only one that bucks this trend... Nishikori needs a good draw like what Murray got with his Wimbledon runs, or Federer's first Wimbledon draw or Rafa's first French Open draw...etc..even the greats need a little cushioning to start their dominance.
