@@championredd I tried playing mk1 online and mind you I have great pc config but it just feels rusty when playing even with highest graphics and consistent 60 fps. Patches are just like band aids this point just so it could look appealing. I play Baraka and it just feels that every move is so draggy. Still love playing mkx online at this point.
The coping is pretty crazy here. Awareness? MK has had the biggest marketing push for any fighting game on every MK since MKX. MK1 is just a bad MK, that's all. People don't want to spend thousands of hours getting good at a bad game that nobody plays because it's a bad game.
@@cpfantastic5576it has 600 entrants compared to 5200 also sf6 came out months before mk1 so it hasn’t even been a year yet year 2 there probably won’t be a pro scene after that
I competed in MK11 at EVO 2019. Made it all the way to Grr before I lost. I got to sit in the front row with him, Hayatei, TekkenMaster, and more. 2nd Best moment of my life. I got married the day before! :)
I'm tired of the "its banned in Asia" argument" EVO is in America, MK is an American game, even though MK is banned in Asia it still sold more than all of the other games and yet it still couldn't even crack 1k entries at EVO. When are people going to stop lying to themselves and just admit that the reason why MK1 is not doing well in the competitive scene is because its just not a good game.
Mk1 is not a good game. We play it cause it’s the newest mk game we got right now. To many nerfs, to many bugs, online still buggy, lack of content. And the competitive scene sucks cause everyone plays meta and there’s no variety.
So true 😂I only play it cause it was new n all but it's redundant, lack luster ,hopefully tekeda saves it for a month ,I can only play mk1 if am drinking 🍸 😂
Tweedy, bringing up the point of MK being banned in Asia is disingenuous. Evo released the data on the entrants. Of the 10k people entering EVO 90% of them are from America, if you took out competition thats not from the US all those other games still dwarf Mk in entrants, again. EVO released this data. Should’ve done more research
You also keep talking about crossover entrants when evo also released this data, without crossover entrants those other games still have way more than MK.
And the fact that MK is the best selling fighting game even without having access to Asian players. Why aren’t people staying to play the game lol, it’s not interesting enough.
mk1 has a low player base. mk11 almost has as many people playing it currently than mk1. the game did not resonate with fans/casuals. seems like only the competitive players and content creators are keeping this game afloat
@@dec2567 it has 7000 active players online who play for more then a hour that’s a dead game lol it’s year 1 for comparison sf6 sometimes has 20k plus on steam alone online playing ranked
The game is in this position because creators like you trying to tell us mk1 is a good game when clearly it is not. The game could be in a better place but like this video there is no war in ba sing se
The cameo system is gimmicky and takes away from the game in total. It makes it stale because everyone uses the same ones, and balancing is shitty because of it.
@@vega6880 Bro, WTF are you talking about? It's not that deep, lmfao! What themes is it opposing? Are you saying MK characters have never teamed up to fight together? I hate MK players so much. Literal casuals. This is why MK is a joke in the FGC
@@Kitsune986 yeah MK is not an assist game that’s what I was getting at. Adding it in to cram more dlc characters was a bad move lol I guess you just didn’t get I was trying to say that.
I honestly can’t see why anyone would find this surprising. Who wants to play or watch a game based on endless spam loops? More people play MK11 on PC.
Man mortal Kombat doesn’t even allow comments on their Kombat Kast streams, how the hell is this game’s community gonna grow competitively if the studio doesn’t even want you talking about it 😂
Because most of the community doesn't act mature, they act like babies complaining and whining for fixes. The fans are the ones killing the game, SO UNGRATEFUL, NO CHEER to the devs
@Aben_SkyLord ...you said it yourself, yes, the community is complaining and whining for a fix, because they gave us a broken game. Why wouldn't the community complain? Look how many issues and glitches we seem to get every "update".
Not surprising when devs get threats to their lives because they don’t have a certain character in the game.. People complain about MK mostly because they’re bad at it, biggest babies in the world.. Go into kasuals and try find someone who will play 10 matches without leaving, ain’t happening, one loss and they’re gone.. No one is willing to lose, no one is willing to learn, the majority of MK players across ALL games can’t even hit confirm ffs.
I could be wrong but I imagine EVO is 95%+ NA players. MK being banned in Asia shouldnt make any difference to the attendance at a tournament in the US.
Yeah but I feel like Asians take fighting games Way more serious so them flying to another country to compete isn't that far fetched, I thought the same thing tho bro; Because MK does feel like a NA/SA and a bit of EU fighter, Where Tekken and SF are dominated by a lot of Asian culture
@@angel2x813 assuming you’re actually getting character variety, I think the game is incredible to watch as it is now. The aesthetic, the animations, the combos, the creativity, it’s amazing. There’s still work to do on balancing certain things, but especially buffing a lot of things, but that’s primarily for the sake of making the player experience better. Not to mention more content and basic features that have been missing. But the actual gameplay on screen is beautiful outside of pre patch peacemaker. Faysal’s Kitana at final kombat for example was pure ART.
I think is the kameo system’s fault, it encourages gimmicks and sets a terrible standard to what fighting games should be, people watching someone do the most unsafe shit just to be saved by Kano knifes must be like wtf is this
I agree, I don't mind Johnny being strong I don't mind peacemaker being strong ,just bring up all the other characters and cameos up atleast to compete with that meta 🤦🏽♂️
@@irvingp6859I agree with this, reptile, havik and others being buffed hard would add so much more variety to a game that’s getting so stale. Scorpion is so boring to play and really needs some love. Many of the characters are just as strong if you really deep it. The top pros weigh a big influence on what the meta is as if their word is law. But realistically some characters just needs higher maintenance. A lot of people are just lazy to figure things out.
"Players from this other games are entering it." I just keep hearing this statement without any substantial data to support it. You're assuming that significant players who play GGS also play Undernight or Grand, which is just not true. If you look over the chart on the site, you'll see that the highest cross-over rate between anime games (GGS and Grandblue) is only 20%. It's NOT all the same people. LOOK at the chart. That means there's 80% of people--at most--where there's no crossover. It's not ALL the same people. SF6 and T8 has the highest crossover rate, but it's still less than 40%. You repeatedly mention that it's all the same players for those games. Big bro, the data just doesn't back that up.
The problem is a lot of the criticisms are bias or click bait. Constructive criticism is great, but constantly shitting on a game just because just makes the game look bad and might make WB support it even less.
I also think that after all the obvious things like marketing and money there's also one important thing that really holds MK back competitively. It's character's legacy. When you play and even watch T or SF - you see a lot of staff you've been seeing for years - moves, appearance, even costumes. Whe you play every new MK - it's always ground zero. And not just moves and mechanics - even character's background changes with all this multiverse crap. It's hard to be passionate about Kitana when there's a new one every fcking game. So for most players there's no reason to be a character specialist. And it affects the competitive character variety a lot.
That's why I say people today wouldn't survive on the first Injustice it took real skill and regardless if you played the same character the game felt exciting because of different play styles and different tech
No one wants to watch johnny mirrors for the whole tournament mk1 is a dead game and its at the bottom for a reason they put in the least amount of love they are the most greedy company rn in the fgc scene stop making excuses and just pray we get injustice 3
It’s these streamers and TH-camrs like you who keep talking positive about a badly designed game really is. NRS needs constructive criticism from MK11, but of course we know how that ended up. Now we are in a even worst position with MK1 because of it. The whole argument with Mk being banned from asia is bs. EVO is held in America. I’m sure 90-95% of players are American and even under night in birth stil performed better!!! Stop glazing NRS for absolutely nothing. Stop listening to these TH-camrs and streamers who are saying positive things about the game when really it’s just not a MK game in the first place
As I said in other social accounts today: I'm not surprised. Anyone that follows NRS knows after a year of release, the numbers decline. I'd be more shocked if the numbers were more because MK 1 year one wasn't good. Can MK1 be better? Yes. At the end of the day, play the game you like everyone & worry less about critics Good upload today Bird. Well said
Exactly someone with some common sense. Mk sells well but was never the big game of the fgc, and numbers go down after a year. It happen with mk9-mk1 nothing new here.
@@kye4216 It's just that MK attracts a huge number of casual players because of the gore and how big the ip is but they couldn't retain them because of the lack of PVE content (I prefer that they focus on balance patches or online content but that usually doesn't make the numbers
Final kombat was so unfortunately atrocious. NRS allowed such a horrible meta age the worst time possible. Ninja on Liu for example would’ve made the tournament so much more entertaining. I absolutely love leagues like R1ps arena because they always stream high level matches with so much character variety. Grr at LCQ with Geras is another memorable run that was so much fun to watch. NRS has a lot of work to do to get he game i a better state and get more support and investment in pro komp.
Something happened between injustice 2 and mk11 where everything got so tier whorey. In injustice 2 u had sonic cooking with characters like cold and canary, white boi winning a major with scarecrow, honeybee and biohazard with flash and bane, hayatei with Robin. I feel like mk11 and mk1 were so much more tier whorey. Not sure if it's something to do with the games themselves or some switch with the mindset of the community.
NRS does that as a form of promotion they add stupid characters to make the people who suck at the game and the people who hate using skill buy the game, dlc, costumes , etc cause all the people who play those types of characters are the people who’ll spend money
Mortal Kombat being banned is Asia is a 90s thing. I live in Asia, and I know other players from other countries in the Asia region who have been playing Mortal Kombat since the PS2 Era, that includes myself who have been playing MK from Deadly Alliance all the way to MK1
It’s easy 300 Johnnys vs 300 Peacemakers and maybe 45 random characters that won’t make it past qualis because why buff bad characters when you can keep nerfing the same character that won’t affect them whatsoever. They are treating this like Ubisoft treats rainbow 6 and just nerfing literally everything to the ground and when they buff characters they revert it back a patch or two later.
I gotta disagree tweedy I don’t think the anime games have as much overlap in players as you think. I’ve played all three and none are similar besides being anime, if I were to go to a tourney for them I’d probably do one of them not two or all three. It’s like thinking mk and street fighter will have overlap cuz there 2D. But as you know they are very different
U said mk wins TH-cam . That’s because it’s a casual game the more hardcore fans who care about tournaments and pro play watch twitch . That’s the most important part for a scene a lot of the numbers are inflated to because a lot of its omg they added peacemaker from the show omg they added homelander from the tv show . They fry out the characters for a month and leave
That's honestly just part of the marketing and WB knows Jim who played umk3 when he's was 12 might pick up the game if he sees his favourite character from that one show or film. The marketing and sensationalism have eclipsed actually making a good game.
mk11 has had the highest players at EVO with 1500+ players MKX had 1100+ and both launched on April monsth before Evo. MK1 launched after Evo and that had alot to do with the numbers. MK11 has been the best MK game because of the EVO numbers? I dont think so
The game just doesn’t have a good pro scene and it’s nowhere near dead since it still has a high active player count daily even bigger then Tekken 8 currently Tekken has 6,430 active players while MK1 currently to has 6,880.

MK1 isn’t a competitive game I think FK proved that. It’s really unbalanced and not fun to play at the higher level in my opinion. It’s just who can play the top 3 teams better everything that makes a fighting game a fighting game doesn’t really exist in MK1. Peacemaker being nerfed to shit, and Johnny not even really being touched is going to bring it down to even less options at top level.
I think my MK/Connor McGregor analogy is spot on. Who honestly cares about the McGregor comeback? And who knows - he might still be really good! But nobody cares! His brand has ascended the entire sport. And he's made so much money, why would HE even care? And as a UFC fan - I was WAY more excited anout Pereira/Jiri 2 than I was McGregor/Chandler! That's probably how the FGC feels about MK.
My one gripe is the dlc characters. Stop it with thw guest characters, they dont even represent mortal kombat, who the hell is peacemaker for an mk fan ? No one. Its only for casuals to make money and if thats the target they succeded, what can I say...
Not surprised, alot of people don't care to watch mk1 or to play it because of the metas, pair that with the rough start it had it's just not the good attention grabber it could be. Also we gotta be honest having a block button in. 2024 no crossups janky animation and no lobbies and online practice mode still shows that the game is not made for competitive play .
Bro what you mean virtua fighter has a block button n is probably the most difficult fighting game with great competitive aspects and super balanced. Only thing wrong is sega abandoning it for another sonic
I mean so is third strike and that’s higher on the list than mk. Does that make mk better cuz it’s new? Sega dropped the ball inpromotiong but everything I said in that comment is true so idk what point you’re tryna make tbh. Block buttons has non to do with a quality fighter that has competitive aspects and balance
Like fr what kind of a response is that? You dismissed a game with better gameplay cuz it’s old yet here you are talking about mk n it’s block buttons when mk is just trash anyways. So I said vf a great example has a block button then you said it’s old but third strike is literally like 11 years older than vf 5 inital release not even ps4-5 one. So what’s your point? Age? Quality? Or block buttons? Please don’t sidetrack I don’t care I just said block buttons don’t make a game. Am ass game is ass regardless of age or block buttons 🤷🏻♀
I mean the big three games on there have massive publisher support and well stablished circuits. They are always at tournaments making big annoucements, they support their games for a long time. MK has shity comunication and low amount of cash on the competiteve scene. Pro player make more money being content creators. so obviously entrants are going down.
They really need to communicate more! I have mixed feelings about Boon: it depends on whether he teases info that’s HYPE or irrelevant 😂 I know he says WB holds him back and I totally get him not wanting to get in trouble with his bosses 😵😂 But we’ll see IF MK gets more support this time: they were rumored to want more KPs to add Ermac, Takeda, Reptile and the cyborgs in 11 but Covid stopped production. That shouldn’t be an issue this time 😵💫

@TweedyMK mk as a whole will never reach its peak again because NRS never truly listens. Sf6 beats it by miles it has variety nk1 does not. It's not a fun game.
Bro, if my son tells me he wants to be like "Sonicfox" I swear I would instantly cut him any source of media and gave him 100 books to read. Please god forbid me of that situation...
Imma be honest This doesn't matter. The competitive scene doesn't either it takes far more effort, and audience to fund this scene anyways. This isn't a measurement of the games livelihood as competive scenes dont do the heavy lifting for the livelihood of ANY game. Is low tournament interest sad? But This is just hate Farming atp. You can look at games like Ki,Umvc3, DBZF , Skullgirls the game, and its competitive scene are kept alive by their fanbase inside or outside evo.
The character variety in SF 6 has just recently improved with the new patch. Im not sure how much character variety in tournament affects the games popularity with casuals. if I start up SF 6 right now, 80% of my matches will be against Akuma.
Depends what level your at in high rankks master I played like 8 Akins’s 4 bisons 1 manon 5 zangiefs and like 10 ryus because the game is refined for the most part and balanced it’s a true competitive fighting game . With lobbies and online practice mode .
Shotos will always be popular with casuals because if we're being honest they're basic enough to just carry. Bison is popular now because he's new but I've already noticed a drop off compared to Akuma. In the pro scene there's way more character diversity, AKIs reaching top 8, Manons too, Lily winning major tournaments etc.
Johnny is so boring 😂 same old, same old. Peacemaker is boring even by guest character standards imo. They got nerfed though and the meta might change.
MK is the fighting game series I started with, even though I think MK1 is a massive disappointment I still care about the series a lot and seeing what NRS are doing with it is just disgusting to me. Not even the monetisation, I can stomach that but just the inclusion of terrible guest characters over actual MK characters, Kameos, terrible net code etc Like honestly give this series to someone else at this point.
Ok I checked EVO 2023 had 449 entrants for MK11 Ultimate which means there are 196 more entrants this year in comparison to last year. This information isn’t enough to still make a claim that the entry for MK is better or worse without more information. I’m just very curious what additional information you are using to form this opinion?
The one thing NRS won’t do, is make a new fighting game. Like we got injustice but they’re only for MK and Injustice. I feel like if they at NRS make a new 3rd fighting game that’s not gorey it’ll be allowed in other places like Asia for example. New characters new story, new everything, get WB to promote it and boom, you get a New following and fan-base of something new. We’ve had MK for Years now but I think the gore and brutality of it all wouldn’t allow it to do as well as we should so hope it could be. In short, have NRS start new and get better numbers idk Because NRS is kinda the joke of the FG scene, if they make a new fighting game that’s nothing like Injustice or MK, it could potentially do numbers idk
Nah aint no coming back from this the simple fact a game from 20 years ago (SF3rd strike) doin better than Mk1 says more than enough, put em ina coffin😂
I think you're right. I love degenerate shit in fighting games but sometimes a mechanic or system can make a game degenerate in a way that's not fun, especially for new/casual players. I think this is one of the reasons DNF Duel disintegrated. The game was just degenerate is a way that was not fun for most people. MK 1 is looking like it's about to turn into DNF Duel if they don't address the gameplay in a major way and add some amazing dlc.
The game is just not fun to play. Not fulfilling at all. Yes, it's better than MK11 (I hated that game), but not by that much. Honestly, the only reason its better imo is because of better combo potential but that's not saying much. And you can argue that MK11 did other things besides gameplay wayyyy better. It feels like only a handful of characters actually have a fully realized and useful kit. Hence why you see the same top tiers in touneys. This also applies to the kameos as there are only a few that are consistently used. I love assist/tag fighters so I was really excited when they first announced kameos but the system has been a huge let down. It feels so half baked. Like Ed Boon is on record saying they wanted to "open the game up" some more but it doesnt really feel that way. The Kameo system is half baked. Most characters feel like they're missing more actually useful normal/buttons. It's like they're scared of making another MKX like game with crazy shit that they shit their pants if they think one move is too useful/op. The neutral game is not fun. Poking is strong as hell. The game is keep away heavy but not to the extent of Injustice 2. They're scared to give characters useful mid strings. And they nerf any damage as soon as its figured out. All they've done is nerf nerf nerf instead of buffing and making other characters actually fun to play. Sigh. I really wanted to like this game. I'll come back for Takeda since he was my main in MKX but I'm already preparing myself to be disappointed. And ultimately everything I mentioned above adds to the reason this game hasn't been successful competitively - it's not fun to watch. Unless they make HUGE gameplay mechanics overhauls, I do not see myself coming back permanently. It sucks that it'll probably be another 4 years minimum until the next NRS game, which might not even be a fighting game! Such a disappointment.
The answer is simple and it’s the fact that MK1 lost its legacy casual audience. None of what tweedy talks about explains why MK1’s first year numbers are half of MKX or MK11. With MK11 being arguably a worse game imo. Here are some reasons: 1.) Changing MK into an assist fighter is a fundamental change a lot of people were turned off by and people used to the formula couldn’t adjust. 2.) The game released in an unfinished buggy state, and is still arguably unfinished. The netcode on release was awful. legacy features like server browsers and rooms are also completely missing and people didn’t stick around. 3.) The DLC roll out has been painfully slow. Too slow to keep the interest of the casual audience that did make the adjustments. 4.) Balance. The games balance has been broken since day one. With every patch a new character becomes so OP we only ever see them played. This makes for boring tournament viewing and online gameplay.
I firmly believe MK1 is a decent game. Here’s where the problems lie in my opinion. There’s a lot of casual players who wouldn’t even dare play a ranked match , making the comp scene very small. The back and forth of nerfs and buffs discourage some comp players from competing The game is not allowed in Asia EVO is 300 days post MK1 release. Say what you want but the winner of the latest MK1 pro tourney just won himself $70k. And the regional tourney winners(online) went home with 5k each time In fairness I think it’s doing alright At the end of the day watch you enjoy and play what you enjoy. If this is job then you gotta do what you gotta do. If it’s not and you don’t compete clearly it doesn’t really matter how you view these. Those who go and compete will always do so at a high level regardless of how many entrants there are.
Heres the thing about under night, its always been community driven, the developers dont say much as much as the top players promote the game themselves, go into any pros stream and they are actively always encouraging others to try it, do lesson streams to help people learn, play with anyone who wants to play, and it helps boost the games popularity. MK pros seem to most often then not, stick to themselves, or bash the game. Why would anyone want to play a game even the pros have some disdain for? Wb could help but whats stopping the community from helping itself. Ive been playing uni since ST and they are by far the most welcoming ive ever seen.
Bro, when you say Asia you are talking about the entire continent. MK is not banned in Asia. I believe MK is banned in Japan, mainland China and South Korea.
@@kye4216 not really, MK9 was still placing near or at the bottom of registration ranks and was considered unpopular competitively, just like MK12 is today
@@saintxeno777 thats not their point?? The point was that a game as beloved as MK9 was not popular at all in any competitive spaces lol. MK in general as a franchise is not taken seriously in most competitive spaces because lets cut the shit here, MK since the very first game has been a broken franchise in terms of balancing lmao even during MK9 we had shit like the jax infinite, Cyrax, Kabal, Kenshi, Freddy, Sonya.
Only 10% of people who attend EVO are from outside of the US so stop with the BS excuse about travelling. It's time that people accept that MK1 just isn't good. The NRS community itself is insecure and has isolated itself from the rest of the FGC. During MKX we had people from SF, Tekken and other games commentating and playing the game. Neither NRS nor the community really cares about growing the competitive side of their game. It's time you guys stop blaming everyone else and take some responsibility for your scene.
Yeah this just isn't that surprising. Like Tweedy said if you look at the numbers from past games it's pretty comparable. MKX 2015 had 1.1 K entrants, IJ2 in 2017 had 800 entrants or so, and MK11 in 2019 had 1.5 K entrants. The numbers just die off from there and it's mostly the people who stick with NRS games and don't compete in other games. Plus a lot of people forget that out of all the games MK is the only game that is banned in Asia and other countries. That being said, year one of MK1 was such a shit release. That coupled with the competitive meta is probably why the numbers are unusually low for the first year of the game's release. I love the game, it's really fun and I still play it but WB is so greedy and they may or may not be the prime reason for the decline in quality of NRS games. I'm staying positive tho, the patch last week was a small step in the right direction and the Takeda patch will bring some hype back and hopefully buff a lot of characters/kameos to spice things up and put more life and expression in the game.
Hey, Tekken player here. Thanks for the video! Two things: I hope y'all get the kompetitive scene in a healthy place and best wishes for NRS listening to your komplaints and getting better character balance for you. Tekken 8 had *really* rough balance on launch, and gameplay was not pretty, but Bandai-Namco listened and made things a lot more sane in the first few patches. Best wishes, sincerely. Secondly: I think there's a social/political thing going on with not taking shots at the KOF scene for not coming out -- KOF is so Latino, y'know? American FGC folks aren't going to make fun of folks from Mexico or Brazil (etc) for not traveling to US tournaments. But MK players (for better or worse) feel like more fair game because we (SF/Tekken players) grew up with you.
Game it’s fun but when u get an Omni man lao for example dude don’t do anything just backing waiting for lao hat bro u just want to stop playing so casual like myself how can we go and compete or take ur serous? When shit like that also not to mention the top 5 over powering the rest of the cast
I dropped the game but next time you fight that bro use sub zero kameo, every time you see Lao put down the hat, activate sub zero shield. They will either be too scared to do anything or try their dumb strat which is no longer hard to block since you’re protected
You would think that maybe the tournament rules could be changed to create a stir in viewership. This may sound really dumb, but hear me out. What if there are rules that winners and losers of matches MUST change characters? I believe there needs to be more at stake and more interesting variety. This is just a rough draft of ideas. I know this would take too much time, too. BUT, I think there needs to be some sort of change to keep things interesting. Any thoughts?
*My comment is Long AF. Don't flame me. 😂* So, I'm 36. Ive been playing MK my entire life and have been active in the FGC going to locals and tournaments since 2003. FGs are my favorite genre and I play everything. SF, Tekken, MK, Anime. You name it. However, MK has been my favorite IP. With that said, here are my takes on MK1 as a whole. To preface, I love the game. It's the most fun I've had PERSONALLY since MK9. However, I can say that this is not the MK game that should have been released after MK11. MK11, even though it's the best selling MK game to date, was not received well at all; and the team absolutely knows that. Their competitive fan base loves speed, combos, gore, and chaos. This is what makes MK hype; to play and to view. MK1, unfortunately, doesn't hit all the marks for many competitive players and hardcore MK fans. MK1, while fun, seems like a spin off to the series. The story did not revamp the timeline as we thought and instead it was a continuation of MK11 where both timelines became cannon. Many characters underwent MAJOR changes that may have put some fans off. Imagine if Scorpion is your favorite character and you absolutely love the story of Hanzo Hisashi only to find out he doesn't exist as scorpion in MK1 and instead it's Kaui Liang. You're probably like, wtf? 😂. Also, the game is a tag team fighter. There is a reason why you have Marvel players and Street Fighter players. Yea, some players play both titles; but you cannot believe that a tag fighter would be everyone's cup of tea. NRS actively divided their core competitive scene with this decision. Overall, even though MK1 is a fun game at its core, IMO. This is absolutely not the MK game that should have been released as the next title in the series. This reminds me of the release from MK Armageddon to MK VS DC; fans were like WTF. Lol. It just doesn't make sense as a main installment in the franchise. It tries to do too much, while not doing much of anything at all. I honestly think MK13 is going to be a fan service title. 100%. It's going to be like MK9/MKX 2.0 if WB allows enough development time.
I went ALL I when MK1 dropped. It was fun at 1st. Then Bison dropped and I picked up SFVI again. Now I play them both back to back. And I have to be honest as an MK fan boy. SF is just a better game. More fun to play and watch. It moves faster the engine is smoother. MK1 is becoming less and less fun. The fatal blow animations slow the game down so much. Waiting for fatalities to end drags the game. The normals in MK1 are too poke centric. Mayne bring the RUN option back to Mk to speed it up.
I put 4000 hours in Mk11 which lead me on to Mk1 and I paid 110$ for a half ass game. Since launch people swore Mk1 was better than Mk11. When literally from top to bottom Mk11 is a more enjoyabe and balanced game than Mk1.

The thing is, no one wants to play Johnny or these broken characters that are the meta right now, its sucked the fun from the game
Johnny is so boring 😂 same old, same old. Peacemaker is boring even by guest character standards imo. They got nerfed though and the meta might change.
If that 4 man tag fighter pops off later this year it's over for MK1.
Mk1 is cooked
MK is the fighting game series I started with, even though I think MK1 is a massive disappointment I still care about the series a lot and seeing what NRS are doing with it is just disgusting to me. Not even the monetisation, I can stomach that but just the inclusion of terrible guest characters over actual MK characters, Kameos, terrible net code etc
Like honestly give this series to someone else at this point.
tweedy do you have any idea if sonic is playing this year?
What are the big 3s prize pools?
EVO prize money suck
Mk1 trash... that simple
In short, have NRS start new and get better numbers idk
Because NRS is kinda the joke of the FG scene, if they make a new fighting game that’s nothing like Injustice or MK, it could potentially do numbers idk
I think the sudden change to a cameo system is very weird when Marvel v Capcom did that 20 years ago. Also I don't think MK is bigger on Twitch.
MK is nonexistent on twitch
"Somebody's momma playing Johnny" followed by the sarcastic "I want that to be me!" had me dying bro
Nah aint no coming back from this the simple fact a game from 20 years ago (SF3rd strike) doin better than Mk1 says more than enough, put em ina coffin😂
Cameos did kill MK1 and also no balances in charecters.

Trust me, I know, lol. MK1 is trash. Especially with how they handle assists

The cameo shit ruined the game in my opinion 💁🏾♂️
I think you're right. I love degenerate shit in fighting games but sometimes a mechanic or system can make a game degenerate in a way that's not fun, especially for new/casual players. I think this is one of the reasons DNF Duel disintegrated. The game was just degenerate is a way that was not fun for most people. MK 1 is looking like it's about to turn into DNF Duel if they don't address the gameplay in a major way and add some amazing dlc.
Just say you guys don't like assists games, lol
@@Kitsune986 I said what I wanted to say.
Should have been a game mode tbh (optional)
@@Kitsune986mk1 has never been an assist game until mk1.
KOFXV is my favorite game on that list but the one with the lowest numbers. I dont play a game because it is popular, I play it because I like it
The game is just not fun to play.
Here are some reasons:
1.) Changing MK into an assist fighter is a fundamental change a lot of people were turned off by and people used to the formula couldn’t adjust.
The back and forth of nerfs and buffs discourage some comp players from competing
The game is not allowed in Asia
EVO is 300 days post MK1 release.
Say what you want but the winner
of the latest MK1 pro tourney just won himself $70k. And the regional tourney winners(online) went home with 5k each time
In fairness I think it’s doing alright
At the end of the day watch you enjoy and play what you enjoy. If this is job then you gotta do what you gotta do. If it’s not and you don’t compete clearly it doesn’t really matter how you view these. Those who go and compete will always do so at a high level regardless of how many entrants there are.
70 k that’s cool the capcom cup winner won a million dollars and 2nd place got 300k
under nights numbers arent bad ... and they need to take official numbers on people who enterered multiple games not guestimates
Well I’m terms of fighting games those countries represent 99% of the player base.
If 645 entrants means MK12 is dead then MK9 was dead on arrival since it never broke 500 on any tournaments
Different context. 500 back then was way more than 500 now.
@@kye4216 not really, MK9 was still placing near or at the bottom of registration ranks and was considered unpopular competitively, just like MK12 is today
So u mean it gained 145 players since mk9 wow that says a lot
@@saintxeno777 thats not their point?? The point was that a game as beloved as MK9 was not popular at all in any competitive spaces lol. MK in general as a franchise is not taken seriously in most competitive spaces because lets cut the shit here, MK since the very first game has been a broken franchise in terms of balancing lmao even during MK9 we had shit like the jax infinite, Cyrax, Kabal, Kenshi, Freddy, Sonya.
@@saintxeno777 "I like pancakes" So you hate waffles?
MK is not bigger in streams
WB, NRS and the puppet Ed Boon don't care about EVO, the game or the playerbase. They are just happy with their Woke game and microtransactions.
MK1 just isn't as entertaining to watch or play compared to the previous Mortal Kombat games.
Its fun casually but competitively its just meh.
*My comment is Long AF. Don't flame me. 😂*
So, I'm 36.
Now that MVC2 is coming things might get even more competitive. People are gonna want to play the new game also
I hope they make mkx the throwback game next year so y’all can see the game is the problem
I put 4000 hours in Mk11 which lead me on to Mk1 and I paid 110$ for a half ass game. Since launch people swore Mk1 was better than Mk11. When literally from top to bottom Mk11 is a more enjoyabe and balanced game than Mk1. I dropped Mk1 since Christmas because patch after patch there is always a busted meta hat forces everyone to play it and even for a comp player it not fun
Literally why can’t every character get mega buffed, make everyone viable it really CANT be that difficult if they can nerf people into the ground super easily
Mk competitive scene has never really been too big. That being said mk9 and mkx evo were hype
I think many pro players trash MK1 so much that WB was like “you know what i won’t support yall”
The prize pool for mk tournaments are too low. Top 8 at CEO were earning like $22. A joke
Im glad i didn’t pay $1.3k for a flight and hotel and ticket because this the only game i cared about tbh
Kof XV: We demand a recount
First MK game I actually don't like. I tried so hard, love the franchise but kameos (pardon my french) are fucking terrible. First time I'm going to ignore it exists, play MKX and MK11 and wait for the next installment. And hope they'll hit it out of the park with it.
