      When you compare him to Bill Frisell, Henry Kaiser, Terje Rypdal, Eivind Aarset, etc. I would be interested in any players younger than him that have his level of mastery across genres?

      @@hoagyguitarmichael Ahh I get it. I came in off the street literally 10 minutes after finding out about Pirog from a guitarworld article .
      IDK but it seems the bar has been raised for the younger musicians as far as competency in different genres.Probably partly because guys like Bill or Fuze or Hedges existed in the first place.
      Whatever corksniffing used to go on in jazz (or any other learned )circles pretty much has died out.It isn't rebelling anymore.
      Still, I always enjoyed the Laswells or Zorns from the outside looking in ,so I don't have a solid grasp about collective movement .Maybe its impact was made and its getting to be more and more esthetic? I have to think there are a lot of younger guys out there who have the chops but not the want or are not in a situation to use em and just don't feel the need to chase it or just have not been around long enough to branch out yet.
