These ultra expensive guitars lose all their cool factor when we all know they will only ever end up on some rich lawyer assholes wall ! Nah, not cool. To my generation there is nothing less cool than paying 10s of 1000s for a guitar. Just no...
The saddest bit about it for me is you know they’ll never be played and loved like they should be. Instead just stored away for collecting purposes.
the funniest thing is that there are people who actually believe there is a never ending supply of 70 yr old guitars that were never played and have just shown up

Are you fu*king kidding me with that comment? Have you been to Norm's? Have you watched the videos with Nick? He is the most knowledgeable, respectful, unassuming person in the store. He is an invaluable part of Norm's team...INVALUABLE. They just unpacked a truckload of museum pieces, but they ain't in church listening to one preacher. They are all geeking out over these finds.
He also can play at a level very few guitarists on the planet can play. His own personal musical history and connection to the industry would shake you right out of your self-appointed judgemental chair.

I would do a radiocarbon dating on it, must be worth more than a brand new 2021 F-150 truck

Your looking absolutely fabulous Norm, and the guitars are looking almost as good for their age as you do, what a great bunch of vintage instruments,always love stopping by and taking a trip down memory lane.
A friend of mine received an Epiphone Pro guitar with matching Pro Amp for his birthday many years ago.His Grandfather,who was a regional sales rep for Gibson/Epiphone,gave it to him.He still has the set and the guitar and amp are in mint condition.
99% percent of these guitars 🎸 better show up on guitar of the day.

I have a 1964 Firebird III thats in very good shape. It has a lipstick neck pickup which Gibson says is probably a factory pickup. They said they would have to see it to be sure its a factory pickup. If it is a factory pickup, it's one of very few that got out of the factory with this pickup.

Dang! Norm’s got all the cool guitars! OK-the deal with the Epiphone Professional is that it’s got all the amp controls built into the guitar. The reverb and tremolo controls on the guitar just work with the actual circuits in the amp, and it needs a special cord to work. The jack on the guitar’s top just takes the signal from the pickup through the volume and tone controls, for use with a different amp. I always wondered why they didn’t use two pickups on those-I guess they thought the Tonexpressor switches (that’s what they called them!) would have enough tone variations. The same bank of switches was used on the Epiphone Al Caiola models.

It’s not the prototype. The prototype guitars are owned by the company, Jeff Harley, & Buddy Guy.

Hay Norm that rosewood tele is a 90s fender USA custom shop......
Where does he find this stuff? A 1951 Tele with literally zero wear on it. It seems odd to me that someone who virtually never played it, went to the trouble of having the neck pick up rewired!

It's a bolt on neck piece of ash wood with strings on it. My boy friend bought one exactly like this for $400. Could be this one?

Great find that first telecaster, but it was never used what it was made for - create music. Whoever will buy it will probably stick it in his safe and secure keep it for decades, so the curse of guitar that is never played would continue. Museum piece, nothing more.
The color picture of the 'original owners' of the Telecaster doesn't seem correct. They bought it in the fifties? The picture ,clothes & hair don't look fifties. And if it's a modern picture, they're too young to have bought it in the fifties.
i hate owning something i can't scratch. there are plenty of great guitars under 2000
that you can actually play without the fear. i got a really nice tele , scratched a tiny bit but , is really clean. , 73 for 1200.
if you shop around you can catch a guy that's got to sell. that's how i lost a 56 lp custom.
i still cry about that and it's been 30 years.

Not since the last time I was broke. And after Agnessi got done with me I wasn't much flusher. I missed dealing directly with cousin Norman. Long time ago at the old store. Norm's good people, but he really isn't interested in lefty guitars unless he has a particular buyer in mind.
When people tell me they want to start playing guitar and their left-handed, I try to convince them to learn right-handed, or lefty on a right-handed guitar. The reason is because you might find one or two lefty guitars even on Guitar Center’s enormous Wall of Guitars. Play lefty and you’re just limiting your own access to instruments you can play, and will be in for constant disappointment.
I’m full on left handed which means I use my left hand a lot . I can’t even play a right handed guitar
@@jamesthe-doctor8981 true I’ve seen may be 1 to 2 lefty guitars which is rare to see 1 when I play 1 people just look at me funny . I remember once a guitar center employee saying to me I get no love . If I wanted to buy a lefty guitar I’d have to order one specially made which can take weeks . I’ve seen videos of Norms Rare Guitars I’ve seen left handed guitars in the background.

Most of these guitars are up on Reverb and way, way OVERPRICED! Norm really.... $25K for that quirky, sunburst Gibson '64 ES-335 w/ varitone circuit and goof-hider pickup mounting rings? OMG! ..... $23K for the fugly Gibson '64 walnut ES-345 w/ wacko tremolo tailpiece? What is the world coming to?
