I’m very fond of Stipula, as you already know. I own nine choice Stipulas. I never bought the Ventidue mainly because of its too many shiny chrome metal parts. I will admit that Stipula seems to have notorious QC issues according to many users who comment on YT and pen forums. I haven’t been too unlucky with my Stipula purchases excepting issues with two of the nine pens I’ve bought so far.
I like the Ventidue’s piston-filling feature with the large ink window. It actually feels solid and durable in hand. And it writes well enough at an affordable price. The Etruria is just far nicer, in both design aesthetics, appearance and performance.
The Ventidue is reminiscent of the newer Stipula Addagio, which I also don’t fancy at all for much of the same reasons. And the Addagio is not even a piston filler. Among the more affordable, mid-priced steel nib Stipulas, I like my Gladiator, Suprema Voyeur much more.
Blake, please consider reviewing that Stipula DaVinci capless pen sometime. I adore mine. Keen to hear of your evaluation of your pen.

Hi Sajjad, thank you for your comment. Stipula makes some great looking pens. I haven't had the best QC on 2/3 Stipulas I've had so far but I do love my DaVinci pen. I will do a review sometime this year.

22 is the atomic number of Titanium. Stipula Ventidue (22 in Italian) were given that name because of the titanium nib used in them. I have one of those pens, and it looks pretty much like the one you have.

This one has a steel nib but I do know Stipula was one of the few brands offering a titanium nib 20 or so years ago. I remember they had the Model T.

I like the ink window portion, but I agree the design is a bit gaudy. Stubs are my favourite but that skipping would drive me crazy. That is great deal, however.

Thanks for the comment. I really only had skipping issues after the fast writing. In normal use it wasn't a problem. I also wasn't using the most lubricated ink.

Stipula’s gold nib stubs (0.9 and 1.1) are very sweet and satisfying writers. Even the steel V-flex is a surprisingly consistent and pleasurable writer. Stipula is somehow very under-rated and overlooked - presumably because they’ve hardly ever marketed their pens too aggressively. And their QC issues that typically plague almost all the Italian brands to varying extents. Aurora remains the least prone to QC issues out of the box. But Stipula’s Etruria, Florentia and a few others are very beautiful and worthy of any connoisseur’s collection.

🙋‍♂Hi Blake! I have nothing good to say about Stipula and will leave it at that. Thank you for sharing your thoughts. Kudos from NYC.🗽

I am not finding the QC to be very good on 2/3 of my pens. If you like the way a Stipula looks and the price is good it might be worth the gamble.

Are you going to keep the pen or sell it?

About an hour ago I went to clean the pen and I couldn't turn the piston knob. I am not sure what happened but it's going back to Amazon I'm afraid.

No. Not straw. That, sir, is a laurel leaf...

That is what I originally thought but I couldn't find details on it from Stipula.

I have never liked Stipula as a company, their pens look nice but they have tons of issues (flow and hardstart are common) and they are built so that they can't really be serviced without sending them to the factory, they are absolutely, postitively not worth the retail price they ask.

I agree with you on the price. If they dropped it by about half I think they would be more popular as most of them are quite nice pens.

There might be a reason it was such a bargain!

Yes, I just found out about an hour ago. The piston knob wont turn. So not sure what the issue is but it's going back.

The piston on those pens is extremely stiff and almost feels like it's stuck when trying to turn it. You might want to use a little harder or you can remove the nib and put a small amount of lubricant in front of the piston plunger.@@BlakesBroadcast

1922 was the year of Mussolini’s March on Rome. Just saying.

That's the only explanation I've gotten so far, but I hope that isn't it.

@@BlakesBroadcast Well, could be just looking to the future--like the Lamy 2000. It would seem a little odd to celebrate the March--although Italy does have a right wing government at the moment.
