You really could have done better. Being that it was a type of sand stone, you should have tried a wire wheel to smooth it out. Also, why leave all the harsh edges on the wood and stone? I do it all the time, I use a spray bottle in one hand grinder in the other, and spray the front of the blade as it enters the cut. Works really well at keeping dust down, I still wear a mask though because I like breathing. As long as you don't soak the body of the grinder you won't get shocked, even if you do resistance is high enough you just get a little tingling.

Listen, Colonel Sanders making an appearance randomly, ALWAYS appreciated. Also, I feel like John and the gang are the personification of "it's more about the journey than the destination." None of us are likely to go out and even attempt this, but I enjoy watching them try something they've never done. It's great!
After seeing the comments looks like nobody is liking it.
Lol, You had to see the comments for that ?
C'mon man, develop some judgement skills of your own instead of relying on the internet hive mind.
@@thunderb00m It's an observation... they never said it was their opinion.
I thought it was just me, but after seeing the comments now I know
@@thunderb00mtake your own advice and develop critical thinking skills. They probably meant they realized it was probably gonna be bad because of how many people thought it looked bad. They never said their actual opinion on how it looked. They simply said they had low expectations.
@@thunderb00mwatch out guys we got a total badass over here😂 You feel like a big man now bud
For getting into a new material that he's never worked with before, it's functional. Seeing it at a sculpture garden would be a different feel for it from seeing it in a country home back yard. Hopefully this is just the beginning of you playing with stone work in your projects.
NGL... I don't even lowkey hate this. I hate this with all of my being.
9:56 that knife is a ZT0566, a discontinued model. Which leads me to believe that John is an avid edc knife collector or at least connoisseur
Sorry to say but this looks very bad. You can do better than this.
GC and Woodworker here, Demo Saws like that are easily my favorite tool to use hands down. So much raw power in your hands, not as noisy and messy as a jackhammer. Might have to try this project sometime
Why make someone a gift if you don't want to put any effort, time or money into it. It looked like crap and you couldn't have cared less about gifting someone it, this just seemed you wanted to generate some money from TH-cam vids so you used a "gift" as a the reason then put no effort money or time into it to be stingy just to make profit from the video. And the result was a poor video and a poor quality bench and unfortunately a poor excuse for a gift
literally so wrong
@@stillfree14 exactly 💯. This was an insult, not a gift. How is this woman supposed to deal with this? And honestly, you don't treat your crew with enough respect to also disrespect their family. Poor form all around. 👎
My granddaughters could have done better than that. This is why I rarely watch this channel
I want to say that I really enjoyed the video and I'm glad you posted it. I think the beach is good for what it is which seems like a more diy result than the polish that your audience is used to. I hope you can mix stone and wood again with what you've learned and get something really cool because I think everyone sees the potential. I think carving the wood where it meets the truck to have a rock like texture and look would really be cool. Maybe some 40 or 60 grit sandpaper on an angle grinder since you couldn't use a cutzall disc. And like a few other comments a diamond cup grinding wheel should really help you get some flat smooth areas.
Looks like every gift a child made for their parents at school.
These comments are wild!!! Dude it looks awesome and the mom has somewhere nice to sit with her family and chill at the pond!!! Also the ducktail kinda resembles a keystone for Pennsylvania
she ask if it was a swing set so you gotta build her a cool ass swing set
We could hear the thought in the back of his head when she said that "shit!" lol
I Love John Malecki Videos 💙✌🏻
Sorry, it just looks like a trampoline that a blind person installed in the wrong direction by the pond.
dying! 😂😂🤣🤣
Diving board?
Diving board*
I like to call it the hobbit diving board
John's shop shades are 🔥🔥🔥
You really could have done better. Being that it was a type of sand stone, you should have tried a wire wheel to smooth it out. Also, why leave all the harsh edges on the wood and stone? It's literally intended for children. That should have been as round as possible. We obviously can't see everything, or the video would be several hours, but this feels rushed and like you just didn't want to
🔥🔥🔥
task failed successfully
Aww adorable puppies
Brother is having a kid, Mom gets a gift?
The logic escapes me.
Brother already got his gift. He did the deed.
@@1pcfredhe gifted me a pair of shop shades that I use at work so my eyes don’t get hurt and I’ll be able to see my beautiful twins when they get here haha
11:22 is still the best video on TH-cam all these years later!!!
you need to lower the guide on the bandsaw until it almost touches the wood. then you wont get as much deflection in the blade.
John, you should hook up with Marmota Works and do a project challenge!! You guys are both on top level skill.
I know everyone says it looks like garbage but cutting rock sucks, it would be real hard to make myself redo it 😂 you’d be better off to re-start completely and why let that one go to waste, I don’t think it looks that bad, wait and see how the slab holds up outside before going too far 🤷🏼♂️ I’d be happy with it
This was great. It looks great.
Did someone comment on the water mixed with the grinder yet? 😂
I was waiting for the 'Bang!'
tingle?! Lol.
@@jparky1972 yeah guess 110 doesn't sting like 230 does 😅
I like it. Looks good, and timeless.
Im not sure why everyone seems to hate it but that's a bench if be proud to sit on
Things Joe Mama didn't say in private
I like it. It pays homage to the old property, and it's somewhere for people to sit and make more memories.
That was a shitty imitation of the original .
The dovetail section is cool but overall that thing is ugly. It looks like something you quit halfway through.
Because he did.
The king👑 of youtube is back and made another good video
They're beatin' your ass in the comments, dude.
Irony is he's getting cooked so bad he probably doesn't need & won't see this comment. Lol
I don't do any woodworking, but this is still my favorite TH-cam channel. Thinking of starting though
The lack of Joe Mama's joke in the comment section is disappointing, and my day is ruined.
Great... Now I need a stone pile... Thanks Malecki!
Comments look rough bro, just make the swingset.
A great bench to enjoy for years to come!
3:58 not John the nose picker 😂
Professional woodworker, amateur booger miner! Just don't tickle it, go deep for the gold nugget.
22:16 “thing we can do now is smash the rock, Joe said it would look best” is where that sentence should have ended. Missed the brief on this one fellas in the nicest way possible as I normally love your creations
You need to check the script on your shop shades way below par on this one john. Please fix it
Nice project. It’s fun to try new things
Fun video, but that bench... the worst project. Go for the swing set better, grandma asked for it!
It was a perfect fit to the yard and perfect hight for her it was perfect in all ways the change up at the end made it look better in my opinion and if the stones were foundation stones for the old family barn you just brought it back to be the foundation of her family memories and that sir is perfect 👍
WHAT??? DEWALT MAKES A HANDHELD JACKHAMMER? I don't need it, that's too much destructive power for me, and I like to destroy things. SO... that's dangerous.
Whelp, time for me to start budgeting for yet another tool I have little use for.
I think it was just a rotary hammer drill with the chisel bit, I think their smaller modern one is only like $200 too the one in the video is probably like 700 - 800 dollar area, wen has a 12 amp corded for like $80 I was eyeballing a while back as well.
i think it looks awesome. Grerat job
Personally i think this doesn't live up to the quality that I am used to from John. I think with a little more time it could have been perfect. Good on ya for trying tho. I couldn't do it!
Jheez, the comments are pretty harsh. I dont think it looks bad at all (plus its relatively easy for one person to move around). I'd be happy with that in my garden. Thanks for the content guys!
This one is a fail 🤮 😢
John and the crew having way too much fun cutting that stone. Can we get more wood working with stone projects?
One of the few finish products that was just not it… definitely should have just grabbed another rock since just that one side was an issue. Totally understand just getting this finished for the videos sake but yea sucks it went to someones mom as a present looking like that
Just binge watched 3 years worth of you tube to get to the newest ones and I have to say that it's not the worst
When are you going to finish it....
