It's the watch I will get when I retire. A reminder of our family holiday in the mid-70s flying Pan Am around the world for 3 months. I was about 10. Plan to repeat the same 3 month holiday when I retire. Australia > Hawaii > LA > Colorado > NY > UK> EU > Singapore > Australia

My mom worked for TWA and I always traveled with her. Always saw captains wearing Rolex. Went to a dealer to buy one and told I’d have to wait unless I built a purchase history by buying other watches. After the 2nd dealer basically said the same thing, I went and bought a longines Zulu time. Has the history with aviation without the terrible attitude of Rolex thinking they are better and not letting you buy what you want.

The GMT Master II in the classic red and blue, with a jubilee bracelet has long been on my bucket list for fine watches. Both as a lover of watches, and as a lover of aviation and history. I don’t know if I’ll ever achieve owning one, as prices have skyrocketed since its inception so long ago, but it’s always on my mind.
What is really impressive with this Rolex model, every pilot or astronaut of the 1969 Appolo 11 mission wore a GMT Master model under their respective suits, so Omega had a watch in space and Rolex had 3. Today these GMT Master II models are a sentimental value or for design, and there is no need to cross the stratosphere to wear such beauty.
It took me 18 months to find a perfect 16710 Pepsi with lug holes and solid end links. I smile every time looking at the time. That was 14 years ago and the smile is bright

I was told directly by my AD that despite having bought jewellery and a sub date from them I couldn’t even be put on “the list” for a BLRO, I’d need to buy some other pieces first.
Walk into a Rolex boutique to buy a new 2024 Rolex, they say it's unavailable. Walk into a parallel importer store and....lo and behold! There sold a new 2024 Rolex, with double or triple the price. Thank you Rolex! You have succeeded to make your watch the most unattainable watch in your own boutique 🤔
I’m so glad you made a new gmt that only Saudi princes and billionaires sons can buy. You guys need to add to each watch release “free 15 year wait on the watch”
Hahaha, until another 1 year the waiting list exceeded 3 years because of over-demand many people do not want to acquire a Rolex by Amour pour l’horlogerie Genevoise, but to make an added value on the resale of the models acquired, which has truly destabilized the second-hand market, creating excessive spikes multiplying the prices of watches by 3, or even by 4, the fault is once again not the fault of Rolex, but only that of the human who greedy for money really does anything...!! Today Rolex manages to produce more with the construction of several factories that should satisfy everyone and thus smooth out this parallel excessive market of the occasion!!

Also, the new version is very nice, but the one we really want is the Coke version, not to mention a blueberry (1675) with the red GMT hand and the all-blue bezel. We are not your "customers", we are your collectors. Is it too much to ask?
I prefer this new version over the pepsi. People thought pepsi was going to rotate out hoping for a price hike. My AD has a safe full of pepsi for this reason. Joke's on them.
