I just wanna become an expert in marketing simply because i love marketing. So could i try for a mkt PhD program in biz school？

So, what if I apply for both the master and Ph.D. programs for the same university? Will that not gonna sound a bit awkward to the board of admission?

My bachelor's degree is English Literature. However I do have an MBA. Can I apply for a PhD in Finance?
