    Thank you for this video. It was easy to follow your instructions and it completely resolved my problem (it's been about 6 weeks since the procedure, and all is good). Thanks again!

    Great video as it helped me greatly. I used Liqui Moly's AC System Cleaner to do the same job. Your video helped me locate the evaporator which allowed me to do the job with confidence. The product works great, as the nasty smell in coming from my AC is no longer.

      Is the evaporator in the front or back of the hole? In which direction should i apply the spray?

    • @RockyMtnRider
      @RockyMtnRider 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@robertsteiner7813 For me it was up and to the left. If you reach up into the hole and to the left you'll feel the metal ripples of the evaporator. The spray nozzle I used had 360 degree spray. I just guided it up after feeling where it was, moved it in and out and spun in around......

    Good video about a good product that I have used twice, now. Last summer, my 4-yr-old 2015 Hyundai Elantra started to develop the “wet gym socks” smell after a pretty wet Ohio Springtime. I followed the directions, removed the blower motor, and it all worked well. The moldy smell was gone for the remainder of the year and throughout the winter. Come this Spring, however, the smell started to come back and got gradually worse. So today, about a year after the first cleaning, I retreated using Lima Cleaner again. It did the job, but let’s face it... mold tends to return in damp areas like an AC evaporator. In my case, I think I WILL follow the manufacturer’s recommendation and clean the evaporator again... perhaps in March or April, then in October.
    I have a tip for any other Elantra (maybe other Hyundai, too?) owners... I’m not as flexible as I was 20 or 30 years ago, and getting my blower out wasn’t terrible, but being twisted upside-down under my dash was less than easy. But in my car, there is a resistor for the blower motor that inserts directly into that exact duct between the blower and the evaporator. Only 2 Phillips screws, it’s considerably smaller and lighter than the blower motor, and a bit easier and quicker to take out. So- one electrical clip and 2 screws later, I had a clear opening of about 3 square inches right into the exact same place I accessed by taking out the blower. Last year I had to run the Klima Cleaner’s tube past that resistor anyhow, so this technique was a bit easier. I put the resistor back when finished, and voilá... all done. -Waited the rest of the 20 minutes, and everything worked fine.

    Thanks for this. I have to do it on my MK7 R. It sucks when you have a nice new car and before the first 10,000 miles the air smells like manure in your face. 👎🏻 You said it blows it out at first and then it's good, but mine continues to smell for like 5 minutes. 🤢🤮

    I’ve seen people taking off the cabin filter cover, removing filter and feeding the tube down from there. I might try that and let you know if I’m able to get back to the evaporator. Thanks for the video. Tired of smelling someone else gym socks.

      ya any way would work, but you want to get it into those fins mainly.

    Hi,
    I have a focus TDDI, i'm going tol use your Technic also. But will also send some foam via drain pipe, and also through the vents, i used a camera and found the top of the evaporator. I believe ti will work out nicely. Meaning via blower motor, air vents (central) and also by using the drain pipe.

    Hey there, thanks for the guide. I tried but I couldn't remove the blower motor on my mk7 GTI (RHD). Then I realized it's slightly more complicated than the LHD blower motor as it involves removing passenger side footwell vent and some hard to reach screw/bolts.
    Either way, I proceeded without removing the blower motor, just stuck the tube in between the fan and hope for the best. If it's not working, i'm gonna redo it and i'm gonna do it right by removing everything :)

      ah good luck! some people just shoot it up thru the blower motor, but i don't like that method. i like to get those fins i think i showed in the video.

      DUDE it actually fixed my metallic smell on startup, which must have been related to the A/C first blow thru the evaporator.

    thanks for your video! sure to fix my sharan (same as golf 6 design ac) and my fd 's tiguan (golf7 ac) with your video.
    i have seen a lot of people just spray the foam into the blower and let the air push the foam into the circulation system. Would this work? or it risk breaking the blower?
