  • Italian entrepreneurs Luca Amaduzzi and Agostino Stilli found navigating London’s busy streets difficult when they’d first moved to the capital, the pair had invented WingLights and are seeking an investment of £45,000 in return for a 5% equity stake.
    An international sensation, Dragon's Den features entrepreneurs pitching for investment in the Den from our Dragons, five venture capitalists willing to invest their own money in exchange for equity.

    One of the thing I like about Dragons Den over Shark Tank, is that the Dragons allow every dragon to give their input/offers for the entrepreneurs to hear and decide. Every once in a while the sharks will make an offer and box the guests into a corner("accept now or I'm out"). Laurie Grenier has cost maaaany guest offers from sharks because she would give them the idea that her offer was better(when it wasnt) or just go out completely.

    I would probs think the indicator is a light especially because it's something you don't see often. I would say either have the light on the bikers helmet or on the back of the bike. And the indicators maybe need to be slightly longer just to make sure they are visible from the handle bars

    Sarah is right, bicycles do have lots of flashing lights on them, but not orange and I think if I saw that I would know right away it's an indicator. • @mp6732
    @mp6732 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    this is genius, Sarah missed the whole thing by focusing solely on her specific case. Think about how ppl drive right now, even when we turn our signals we check our blind spots and rear before switching lanes or turning, this is exactly the same whilst aggregating to that safety net.

    In the early 1960's my brother had a similar set of flashing indicators on his bike. The problem was that in inclement weather especially fog and mist only the flashing light could be seen by a driver. As the flashers located in the ends of the handlebars were too close together the following driver could not determine which direction the cyclist was going to turn. After a few near misses my brother scrapped these dangerous devices.

    I’ve got one of these. Looks nice but to indicate you have to tap the light which causes instability. Shame because I wanted to like them. Plus being at the front does block visibility from behind. Ended up with a smart helmet which has flashing arrows. Much more visible.

      It's a good idea and something that bikers will obviously be interested in buying but I think the concerns brought up were actually really good ones. It's a neat accessory but you can't actually see it many times when it's on, and Sarah is right, bikes have loads of lights and if you're not a biker, it's super easy to not know that orange means it's a signal. I wonder how many people wearing this have gotten hit

    Gloves that have a flashing amber LED strip across the back so traffic can clearly see your hand signal. Little on/off button sits in the crease of the thumb and 1st knuckle so you can turn it on and off as needed without taking your hand off the handlebars.

  • @Trillock-hy1cf
    @Trillock-hy1cf 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    This is not new, as back in about 1956 I bought an indicator thingy to mount under the saddle, which was a box with two left/right arrows that lit up orange when I used a switch on my handle bars, to save sticking my arm out when turning......not too bad in daylight, but at night more visible I thought.
    I was ignored by drivers behind me, and got beeped at a lot when turning, so I took it off and chucked in the bin.
    It seemed a good idea at the time to have some modern (useless) tech. on my push bike........lol
    The same for these gadgets. because surely it depends on the length of your handle bars, or drop handlebars on 'racing' bikes, because if a bit short, the pedalist would hide them from view?
    Perhaps if they were on the end of 5-6" extensions from the end of the handlebars, that might make them a bit more visible.
    But then if you have to stick your arm out anyway to indicate left/right, what's the point of these 'flashers'?

As someone who rides a bike every day, I would love real indicators on bikes , quite often when you turn left it`s tough to indicate with my arm because I`m scared to fall. but than they gonna have to be the same for everyone so cars behind me really know what`s going on. on bikes

    I rarely see a cyclist using hand signals in the way taught me back in the 50s. with your arm straight out from the shoulder. But I wonder if the turn signal lights are visible with riders wearing big flappy coats in winter, plus the bags they all seam to carry.
    The one good point is they make the bike visible from the side during a turn, if the set up could be made to work with an additional set behind the rider then their onto a winner.

    I had something similar years ago that fit just below the seat and was actual arrows, they fazed out pretty quick because it was a gimmick. No one really used them and for a driver of a car, they don't really have the time to look all around trying to see if there are signals. Nothing will ever beat the hand signals that no one ever uses anymore. Bike riders almost dare you to hit them expecting you to adjust your 3000 pound car to their 70 pound bike.
